Well I am assuming they arent like traditional baggage tags attached by a small band. I am assuming they are part of the suitcases structure. Furthermore, I would also assume that Customs would automatically want to search all luggage without the RFID chip.

  2. Re:And how many here use myspace? on Who Says Money Can't Buy Friends? · · Score: 2, Interesting

I dont know of any good social network site technically. A lot of /.ers like to criticise the status quo as much as possible so myspace is a frequent target. Now it is true, that myspace technically blows goats. And it is also true there are parasites of all sorts out there looking to make money or probe other people on myspace (this is true of the real world as well). But there is also security to keep these people away from you.Basically I use it because all my non-geek/non-nerd friends can use the site relatively easy.
I use the site because I move from country to country a lot. It is the best way for me to remain in a social group (albeit virtually) with my friends from home and the friends I have made elsewhere. All my friends have their pages setup to not accept messages unless the person can enter my friend's real name or email address when prompted. So it its what you are willing to allow people and be a particpant on myspace which reveals a lot about you on the site... and people understand that others are lonely and desperately want to be popular. Its an unfortunate fact which never changes regardless how old we get. Some of us mature out of this and some do not. I would like to think I am one of those who have matured(until I see Natalie Portman has a new film released when i become a stupid stalker man again.... : )) Just my 2p.

  3. Umm.. I have a suspicion its abandoned luggage. on Sydney Airport to Instate RFID Baggage Tags · · Score: 1

If you have ever been through immigration and customs at Kingsford Smith, you will know it is pretty thorough (xray, an entire army of baggage troops to go through your luggage on random searches let alone the sniffer dogs). I am guessing people smuggle things back in, then panic, remove the barcode tag and claim they lost their luggage. I bet this is a security messure to catch the people who bring the luggage into the country.

    Just a thought.

That'd actually be pretty cool. Crash your car and have to call the police, then phone up your Geiko representative to come down and check your car out to see if he'll total it. Then when the ambulance shows up they cart you off to the hospital where the car simulation turns into a medical simulation for 3 *real* weeks. When they discharge you it then turns into an insurance simulation where you have to fight with your insurance company to get your car fixed or written off. Then car buying simulation kicks into effect!

You seem to have the process flow nailed on this one. So, I need to ask, do you still have a license?

Perhaps you are missing something in your sarcasm. Historically they should have known these groups were going to fight. They are not Iraqis until the 40's. Before that they were Sunni, Shia, et al. I dont know of a single Palestinian who considers him/herself Israeli.
Is that the fault of the Americans?
Absolutely. For choosing ignorantly to destabalise the place. Civil war aside, name a war in the last 150 years where the initiatere of the war acheived their intended goal of starting the war? You might be able to name one or 2, but in the scheme of all the wars fought, the chance of success is small historically.
Or are the Iraqi people causing their own suffering?
As mentioned above, they dont see themselves as Iraqi.
The timing says everything. With the potential for his agenda to be advanced now gone, he cuts and runs. A good man would have stayed on to finish the job properly no matter how stressful.

Not sure what others think, but the negative affect this has on us foreign relations will last decades. It will only go away if the US gets back following international law and leading as example. But thats an entire new line of discussion.

Amen on all accounts. My closest friend lives in BCN and suffers the same isolation and work woes as you only slightly varied in that he was sent by his employer to establish a spanish branch. Worse still he has the great misfortune of not having a Catalan partner and finds after 2 years that despite being one of the most remarkable people I know, he is alone most of the time and feels ostracised by the Catalans. He loves the place and them, but is growing bitter about it. As for Israel... I broach this subject constantly when I am back home in Missouri. Criticising Israel in any regard immediately catagorised as anti-semetic. Further, I try to point out that Israel is a racist religious state which is exactly what my US friends fear with Islamic states. Anyhow... keep well.

In my 8 years of experience in this industry, the most useful skills have been communication/interpersonal skills. It's strange, I leave a high paying job behind a bar (i make great money now, but made far more working Thurs, Fri and Sat nights in popular watering holes) where I develeped great communication/interpersonal skills. Problem is, most people I commuunicated during work were drunk and wanted something from me. Now I it is usually me wanting something from someone else all the while wishing I was drunk.
Seriously though, the communication/interpersonal skills are far more valuable. I have seen many people who have no talent or skill in anything technical make it very far while the person with the technical knowledge remains where they are.
PS. My skills learned from the bar make me a great conversationist, but not being a sycophant I am not afraid to say "NO!" to a manager who has no tech skills, but wishes to impress the client regardless the cost. This has made my career static and somewhat digressive.
