No, x-wings are designed that way because someone said: "Hey, I've got a cool idea for the rebel fighter" to George Lucas. Does anyone actually think that any aerodynamic calculations were done on it before hand?
Who cares if a company can't provide nice and shiny desktop application. Just give us a command line tool, if there is a need for a GUI, someone will build one.
GP's incremental steps have more to do with marketing then with technology. The launch organisations (Ariane/Sealaunch/the russians/ the us probably) are more then happy to sell launches to you (or anyone else with $$$). All you would need is a vehicle, which would be about the size of SpaceShipOne, albeit in a different configuration.
O, I couldn't resist this one:
(OK, maybe FedEx could use it, but how many packages need to cross the ocean in thirty minutes or less?) Bombs.
Finland declared it's independence from (Soviet) Russia in 1917. I know some people might be a little bit behind the times, but you're pushing the envelope.
It wouldn't be helpful if a school-OS wasn't available for students to use at home. So I think the source will be distributed. If it comes with a localized version of Pidgin (or other IM software), it might even become a serious Windows rival.
Comparing the current state of America to a Police state is complete and total hyperbole. When discussing on Slashdot one should only use fair, well worded and balanced arguments?
You must be new here.
...just makes you seem like a crazed fanatic, someone completely out of touch with reality. Oops, maybe not.
The two accountants with the longest experience immediately took a weekend break in Switzerland, to do some skiing (and visiting friends in the banking sector).
Here's the weird part though: where does the additional energy come from? The photons won't slow down from bouncing, so why not make a system where they bounce indefinitely, creating unlimited power? Where's the catch? We know that photons can not loose speed. We also know that they loose momentum, since that get transfered to the ship. So, the photons must loose mass, probably because of a red-shift.
From de Raadt's mail:
Some have suggested that the SFLC was formed to avoid
smearing the FSF with dirt whenever the SFLC does something risky.
Cool, the FSF has a 'black-ops' section. I wonder what kind of training they get.
On a more serious note, IIRC the BSD-style licenses have a section that says that copyright notices have to be kept in tact. The GPL states that the receiver of the code should have the freedom to modify it, however they wish. This sounds contradictory to me, could someone with more experience please clarify this.

If you've lived through the hell of having MS-Word crash every five minutes, 24 hours before the deadline of your 50+ page document... you might be a bit biased as well. This is an anecdotal statement, which tries to explain or illustrate, why someone could / would be biased against MS-Word.
You:
You either have a hardware problem, or spreading FUD. You instantly dismiss (based on your own anecdotal statement) the possibility that the errors I claim to have encountered, are related to any possible (or alleged) flaw in my OS at that time or the version of MS-Word I was using. Furthermore, you accuse me of spreading 'Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt'.
Me:

They are all possible reasons why you could have been certain in your last post.
You know this because you've read the source code for every MS-Word version since the dawn of (Unix) time and there are absolutely no bugs in there? You have personally reviewed the source code of all MS-Windows versions, and you can verify that there are no flaws (ie bugs) in the code that would cause the problem I described.
You know this because Billy G. is a close personal friend and he would have told you if this stuff was happening? 'Res ipsa loquitur'
You know this because you're psychic? 'Res ipsa loquitur'
So, in essence I was wondering why you could make such a bold statement in your first response. I haven't devolved to the level of a personal attack, just yet.

Blizzard doesn't allow the sale of items for real money (IIRC).
If you make a living of supplying items in Second Life, you should already be paying taxes (including sales tax).
IMHO, tax laws need not be altered because the goods are 'virtual'. It's the illegal part (or not allowed by contract) which stops the tax dollars from flowing.

Yeah, those full-page ads for Google were really cluttering up the newspapers a couple of years back.
