I will be RedHat, I have installed more-or-less all main distros (incl. suse10 and ubuntu6/7beta) always came back to Redhat/Fedora, coz its the best overall outhere.
while i agree with your mom's case, looking similar wont entice your mom to try Linux either, it wont.
See Apple & Macs for instance, nobody cared about them until one day they come in pink, purple, blue and orange. then people start talking how sexy they were, then some started trying. if not the success of imacs, Apple would have no $$$ to develop and market ipods. and would have been eaten alive late 90s.
If we create a completely foreign system, then it is that much harder to get [Windows] people to use, promote and contribute to linux. Otherwise we are left with a select few and linux stays in the basement.
Come on now, I'd (and I bet most others too) rather be interested in a product that looks unlike Windows, that looks exotic, that looks exciting, that looks new and futuristic. Windows is yesteryears product, even worst, its yester century's.
RHEL should have a free version. And what about CentOS? you might say, I am sure RedHat can get (needs and deserves) a better karma, and a better name recognition by distributing RHEL for free, instead of CentOS doing that for them.
I would like to see that Fedora is axed or merged back into RedHat EL, rename it something like RedHat EL Beta or RHEL Express or.., at least it will give new users (kids that are being attracted to Ubuntu) a name recognition right away.
Currently it's confusing, when people speak about Fedora they rarely (if ever) mention RedHat, the next guy who hears Fedora conversation for the 1st time would think of it as just another distro, and would go with distros which currently has more buzz. and that NOT good for Redhat.
I think I'm not alone on this, I would like to see that Fedora merged back into RedHat EL, rename it something like RedHat EL Beta, at least it will give new users (kids that Ubuntu is attracting now) a name recognition right away.

I'm a sysadmin for a midsize company, I use samba exclusively for the past 6-7 years 4 servers for about 200 users, its easy to manage and never had problems with it.
Is Microsoft suddenly going to undermine their user base by making their search engine integrated into Vista? I don't think so, Tim. People aren't total morons. They know how to type google.com into their search bars when they want to use a real search engine.
I think displays should be miniaturized and made to fit into an eyeglass and get video signals wirelesly from a pc that is as small as a credit card which fits into my wallet.
like we didn't enough of one!
"possibly habitable" ?
20 light years away, wake up man!
we would need to beam ourselves there, still it would take 20 years.
and dont tell me about bending and stuff...

That's all I have to say about that
Forrest Gump
Drawings (such as circles) does not display smoothly on screen in Open Office, I guess its something to do with anti-aliasing.

The Romans Conquered the Greeks
And the the Turks conquered both, here, and here.
"Microsoft is not a security company. Security is important, but it's just a little part of Microsoft," Gee, that's new.

i wander if you ever been? or have you ever read anything about the country you loudly speak against? have you?
As noted in other posts, you can't criticize the Turkish government unless you want to be arrested. that's a nonesense statement right there.
come to think about it, its actually scary.

I am a sysadmin, come, tell me about it.
This deal is going to backfire on Novell, this, no doubt will cost them dearly sooner or later, but I guess thats for another Novell CEO to deal with.

450 Billion people? gee...
lucky me, I got RHAT @ $3.1 :))
I think it's got space move up to $30's within the next 2 years, provided that RHEL subscriptions continue to grow & earn.
