    It must be, my friends who are totally non techies got infected with real evil spyware called tech support centers and they suggested them running Opera latest version.

    Of course Mozilla is a good software but Opera is more focused at end users who aren't techies. E.g. they still identify as IE to sites by default. If you ask them why, they say they don't want to get support calls from newbies and tell them "strange" things about pressing f12 etc.

    IMHO, Opera should start looking to identify as Netscape 7.x which its closer...

    btw, I really want to believe the story stats but... no way... Hopely, someday it will happen...

    There are Casio handheld LCD TVs for years, they only cost batteries (if you don't use rechargable)...

    TV over GPRS, as I said we have it for years in Turkey but believe its waste of money and bandwidth.

    Sorry, I am not into sports too much.

    But here in Turkey, www.turkcell.com.tr and www.telsim.com.tr gives those services for 2 years at least.

    Turkcell even sends goals (soccer) to their subscribers via MMS.

    Also, for broadcast people, channel 55 is available. Tune in, you get scores as that happens. That one is going on for 5 years.

    I play ww2 online. No craft, no "beaming". Plain old opels and rifles and all ww2 stuff.

    Its REAL strict simulation. You can't run all the time too. Also if you rambo a tank in a city, prepare to be sapped with 2-3 newbies playing you like cat with mouse...

    As ww2 online is definately a tough simulation its interesting that it became that far.

    Now they got deal with SpeedTree and moving to OpenGL totally, a Linux version is not a dream.

    Game uses OpenAL already.

    My story is, I typed "mmog os x" to google, only that showed up with Everquest thingie, I placed my bet on that.

    Real GM etc are all Slashdot users and they post occasionally I have seen so far.

    I think they don't have anything to say to all this spyware BULLSHIT while they did great to opensource community AND (sort of opensource) OSX community. (www.helixcommunity.org)

    Some people just don't get it...

    I watch quicktime content on Realplayer 10 /Mac FULLSCREEN which Apple doesn'T let me without paying $30.

    Why $30 bothers me? Two reasons

    1) I am a G5 Mac owner (imagine the price)
    2) I use licensed OS X, two of them.

    Don't try to teach me what QT pro is, I just want to watch a quicktime movie fullscreen.

    BTW, mplayer etc, aren't native OS X applications so is beyond me.

    I really don't get why Real offers free software to Linux, FreeBSD and Solaris anyway.

    As we know they read slashdot and even submit stories, I'd say "OK opensource team, lets concentrate on Mac and Windows versions, those geeks call us spyware anyway"

    Nevermind, there are tens of thousands of Realplayer content subscriber users using OS X. Like me...

    Real sells content, not player anymore and that business is going fairly well.

    So they can'T say like ms: "oh, you coded better browser than mine, I give up" and end IE coding.

    Hi,

    I am glad as a G5 user that Real sometimes releases LATE but WORKING products for OS X.

    Now go to some site using advanced wmedia scripting and try to watch it in MS IE even.

    Their jukebox never worked on Mac? or NEVER released. They can't race with iTunes on Mac platform, thats why it has never released.

    Stop this über bullshit karma whoring bitching about Real on slashdot.

    Can you try to seek what "multicast" is?

    I did years ago (Real player 2 times?) and I am still amazed how the heck ISPs, Radio stations didn't implement it. Only reason comes to my mind is RIAA/MPAA power.

    Multicast is, you cast stream ONCE, to millions of users. Like a TV station.

    If they gave it free, you probably couldn't watch since it needs Multicast friendly ISPs with pretty configured routers.

    I am in TV business too and "Fame Academy" you reference is what "reality show" must have been.

    It was an amazing show with REAL talents and real teachers etc.

    It was a REAL academy...

    Cutting it short, its NOT "* Idol" which made some Dutch licensers rich.

    I run only Mac G5 here and with os x of course, I don'T like anyone calling others "lusers", especially ones trapped in windows/x86.

    I also think firefox for os x plainly sux since it uses quickdraw from -you know- 1990s, I bought Omniweb instead. They use methods which even Apple didn't dare to use yet.

    So, don't alienate other people. Its also damn easy to code spyware on os x but they don't care yet. Its that easy.

    Lets say, one of the über stuff spyware does is to grab where you are on web? Download ICQ for mac and click send url while Safari is open. See? It works.

    I definitely won'T buy them but I can bet they will be on DVD9 format, dual layer DVD.

    They could use the other side for original stuff costing nothing. Plain stereo and plain 35 mm mastered (not remastered), wouldn't need the 4th layer which makes problem with some players.

    If you have captured all in mpeg 1, you wasted the LD.

    LD needs mpeg 4 or lets say, pretty configured divx to master.

    Its NOT VHS, its near betacam quality...

    I run Intego netbarrier on OS X (yep, shoot me) and man, these days I am on 56k k (shoot again)... :)

    Getting 3 kb/sec and continuous alert sounds, I wondered what the heck happened, checked logs.

    A new stupid lamer virus checking my port 135. I am on OS X right? FreeBSD based? Got firewall? nothing helps. I am effected by STUPID windows and some jerks opening attachments.

    So, I really hope SP2 will work as advertised, at least stopping viruses coding in VISUAL BASIC for Gods sake... I am not making any sarcasm. I hope it works and guess what? Only owning Macs, I watch all stories about SP2 with Yahoo alerts etc.

    but it will be a shame, to implement such user friendly stuff instead of teaching XP convert idiots(!) su command eh?
