Thanks. I'd rather back off or pull over than have to deal with another jackass with a lead foot and greased steering column who has decided an extra 10 MPH is really the prefered highway driving tactic.

Naturally I'm advocating the (slightly more expensive even with discount) iBook, what with the reliability and the longevity etc, and increased specs only help.

  10. Re:Yes! Imagine the possibilities.... on Neanderthal Genome to be Sequenced · · Score: 0

I've always thought it was foolish to speculate that modern humans and Neanderthals did not interbreed.

Jared Diamond addresses this in his book "The Third Chimpanzee". He suggests that while Neandarthals and Cromagnons are related species, that doesn't imply they're so closely related that a Cromagnon would want to have sex with a Neandarthal--anymore than a human would feel the urge to have sex with a chimpanzee, despite, again, being such closely related species. A Cromagnon, Diamond speculates, would probably have found the idea as repulsive.

Ronald Wright suggests the opposite in his own book, "A Short History of Progress", but his argument seems to stem from his idea that he is related to Neandarthals due to a ridge at the back of his head. Given the two, I would have to agree with Diamond here.

It's pretty well agreed that keyboard+mouse FPS games, like RTS, function better on the PC, that's fine. But consoles handle many other styles quite well: racing, puzzle, sports, hack'n'slash, rhythm, role-playing, and fighting come to mind immediately, and I'm sure there are many more. I think the response to this sort of thing so far has been: "You already have Katamari Damacy--did you want more?" Well, yes please, actually. "New" doesn't constitue gravity guns, instances, squad commands, or new vehicles, believe it or not.
