My approach is to only run Windows as a virtual machine from my Linux host machine. Shutting off internet unless needed, and only installing whatever the one Windows program I need.

Good point. Rather than killikng the engine a 30 second warning could be given. The same should be done for low oil engine kill switches which already exist " yes I'd rather kill my engine and get 2 miles ahead because it will same my life button"
Yup, the Windows phone got Zuned. Shouldn't be a huge surprise, customers are tired of being treated by a cash register by Microsoft, time to be treated like a cash register by Apple and Google instead.
It might seem like a good idea, but personally I hate the idea that a minor glitch in a database somewhere and I'm getting halued off to jail or pay for a fee I don't actually owe. Just for driving down the street.
I think it would be funny to make a film of someone watching a video only available in the US and stepping over the Canadian border and saying whoops, now I'm in violation, then back and forth a few times. Visualize the madness.
It's not easy to spot scraping sites so easy, they can "spin" the content to make it all a little different programmatically.

Same here, Netflix or it doesn't exist in my house.
Wouldn't cost more than a dollar or two to include a CO detector and engine shutoff.
