Forget cell phones, we must mandate that everyone carries GPS location transmitters at all times. I think not having a GPS transmitter giving your exact location, 640*480 low-res video screen shots and full audio 24/7 should be an arrestable offence because you must be a terrorist. Crime will be a thing of the past.

I wish that all email clients would block URLS from being displayed in emails when the sender is unknown (not in the users address book). Creating an extra step for the end user to "Display potential virus/malware from unknown website" would probably cut down on spammers income by 90% and with lawsuits like this might make spamming unprofitable.

  6. Re:Better than trigger happy on Aussie Speed Cameras in Doubt Because of MD5 · · Score: 1

My biggest problem with Red light cameras and Photo Radar is that they do seem to be abused by our governments. When they are first brought in, they promose to place them in areas with the highest traffic accidents, but soon after they find there way to the bottom of every hill, and they speeds in which tickets are sent for get lower and lower, and the timing for red light cameras changes so that it is almost impossible to get through without either causing an accident or getting a ticket! Also I remember a case in Vancouver where someone blew through a photo radar location so fast that the picture was burred and the plate couldn't be identified - so when we think about this the people who are REALLY causing a danger by driving 200 KM/H + won't be ticketed by these systems, only those who are going a little over the speed limit. Seems more like revenue generation than traffic saftey.

Seems to me there are three possible sources of the users location: - Manually entered by the user (which will get out of date when they move, travel and take box with them) - GPS. my GPS receiver doesn't work indoors at all - IP address. Since these are constantly changing, not to mention people using Proxies etc. I don't think this would work either. Best solution I can think of would be a small screen and keyboard on the VOIP box stating current location. Everytime the box is unplugged, it will stop working until they enter a correct address. Seems like a total waste though. Maybe a better idea would be including a notepad for local emergency numbers with VOIP service!
