I'm not saying I can't let loose, I can and do that:) I'm just saying, if I can find a gathering with a group of people more like myself, I can actually relax at the thought of the higher chance I'll be able to have a good conversation with someone. Alas, I doubt I'd be able to find what I'm really looking for, which is someone who cares more about what's in my mind than what's on my chest, but...;)
However, I will agree that this particular set of events is awfully structured. Even anime and sci-fi conventions allot some free time for random socializing.
I don't know. I'd much rather chat with intelligent people than the usual idiots I meet. Then again, I find myself attracted to intelligence and wit above anything else, in both types of relationships, platonic and otherwise. At the risk of sounding elitist, I honestly find most people dull. So this type of gathering might be fun.
As opposed to the sun, which is heated to between 11,000 and 27,000,000 degrees F and produces the natural light that has sustained us for millions of years.:) (Or thousands, depending on your idea of how we got here.)
Good idea. I would like to say, though, that so far FF3 is doing pretty well for me. I updated it on one of my machines to test it out. It's a bit faster, which is nice. I haven't encountered any bugs so far, but I am still going to try it out for a while before updating my work or main home PCs.
Not until IE7 becomes more secure. I don't use it 99.9% of the time, so I don't want a giant security hole sitting open that I'm not even gaining any benefit from. The fact that it's part of the OS and can be accessed even if I haven't opened the program myself makes it even worse.
Mod parent up--this is it, right here. That's what I love about Firefox. If I say that I will restart later, it believes me, and doesn't pop up asking 5 minutes later. "It's later now! It's later now!" is the reason I have automatic updates turned off in Windows. But in doing that, a user has to take on the responsibility of updating manually, and if you want to be really responsible, checking out each update before installing it. That's the part that most users don't bother with, it's an all-or-nothing situation that ends badly for the average user.
I like the idea of something with an optical eye, like the Wii-Remote idea people have suggested, except that it's smaller and fits on the end of your finger. You can point your finger to move the cursor around, maybe close to the screen, but not actually touching it (and thus smudging or damaging it).
I have an LCD monitor, in fact, I use the exact same one here at work as I have at home, because I wanted to determine what was causing my problem. After a few hours staring at this screen, my distance vision gets awfully blurry. A visit to the eye doctor told me my vision is fine but my eyes are getting strained, and I got some glasses to help reduce this. But at home, sitting the same distance from the same type of screen for the same amount of time, I have no trouble with the same distance vision. The only variable is the lighting.
I am going to be very upset if I can't get incandescent anymore. Yes, they take more energy, but they are worth it... the bright white, unnatural light gives me a headache and causes my eyes to strain much faster when I am working under it for a long period of time. I never have this problem at home, with my "regular" lighting, only here at work under the fluorescents. I have heard this is at least partially due to the flicker rate. Would the LEDs pose this same problem?
Absolutely. For instance, I just received one from them saying "AMANDA could your Un1t be LARGER??"
I don't have one at all, so obviously it could be larger. They obviously carefully selected me based on my needs. I feel so cared about! Thanks, Google!
I think you're right. I try to write whenever I can, because I have nice penmanship and I take pride in it. However, I have noticed that it's not as precise as it used to be, since I do type so much. I need to make it a point to practice more often, although it's getting to the point where it's more of a skill to have just for it's own sake, since it's hardly ever actually needed anymore. Filling out forms at the DMV, doctor's office, etc are the only times I can think of that you 'have' to write anymore.
Not to mention, nobody thinks about it the other way around. If it was the other way around... suppose he got bored with her, he wanted to move on, he found a new lover and was sleeping with her. His wife still loved him, went mad with jealousy and tried to kill him. He would say she was a crazy bitch, still hung up on him, psycho and needed to let go--all that.
It's early for me, I guess I'm not being as coherent as usual, but the bottom line--he's a cold blooded killer, and nothing could possibly justify what he did.
Absolutely. Thank you for being so straightforward about it. Political correctness gets ridiculous when it says we shouldn't call a murderer a murderer. He is what he is, and I personally hope he gets much more than 15 years.
You're welcome. I agree, it's not like MOST people would be able to keep completely focused with a large, buzzing, potentially stinging insect flying around their face. And your point about the photo with the computer is valid. Just because we know that it's just for display and not ACTUALLY SUPPOSED TO be used that way, doesn't mean that Joe Dumbass out there knows that. I have met some stupid, stupid people in my time.
Anyway, Mr. High and Mighty over here just joined my (small) list of foes. Have a nice day:)

Um. What?
What about geek ladies?

I'm assuming the use of the word "horriblest" was 1) used to be funny, and 2) completely overlooked, since I don't see any +1 Funny mods ;)
Ba-dum ccchhhhhhhing.
I was about to mod this Funny, and then realized maybe Insightful would be better...

Maybe they can do glow-in-the-dark and french tickler, too!
Sad when the mainstream believes that they should have to pay so much for software that itself is second-rate...
I would also like to see if they were high. You know there are 3 different Wingdings font sets now? Whatever they're smoking, I want some. :D

So this is simply a word coined to describe the regular practices of Microsoft...

Yeah, I was about to say "New article. The Zero Ways Microsoft WILL Change after Gates". They're so deep in this now, there's no turning back.
