609 dollars these days huh? Well you can get it cheaper through online and retail stores.... Seems like a bargain to for the power it provides... I don't mind paying for some quality software.. Adobe Photoshop being one of them... Half-Life being the other i can think of off the top of my head.. And if you use it every day like i do for my photography... its more than worth the hassle of paying for it.
For the Mac, I use photoshop and gifconverter(amizing shareware program) and i need nothing else.. will be nice to see how well gimp will do, maybe apple will bundle it?!?;)
I own a mac... I use linux... Not that impressed with gimp... Why would I want to use GIMP on OX X instead of Photoshop once it runs natively... Photoshop is simply amazing... This is not flamebait.. its a serious question...
What about IM use? How did they or could they measure any use of instant messages between users on the network, would they measure the frequency of contact between different locations? it would be interesting to a see a map of all IM connections over a period of a week or longer, showing how they go to multiple connections.. a time lapse map would be perfect.... just a thought
Well michael i think your partly right in saying that most games get 8.5-9.5 rating but if you'll look deeper for example you'll see thats simply not true..
Take EGM for example.. sure the 10-15 featured games they review get 8.5-10 ratings(how games get a 10 theses days bother me). but they also rate tons of games in the 2.0 -7.0 range in the back of magazine!.. they're just not as prominate. I ready some where that over 70% of the Playstation games that got releases were rated at under 5.0 rating.. pretty sad....
So i guess i won't be playing myst anytime soon, since my cd drive is N: oh well
I think your missing the point.. Gracenote is claimin that "their" intellectual property is not the data, but the means of storage, access, and catalogzation of the user submitted data..
Not that i agree with them.. but thats what they are sayin towards the bottom of the "open letter"
I really can't comprehend why some people are now comlpaining about updates every 2-3 weeks for an OS from a major company.. it would seem like a great blessing, instead of the nuiscance(sp?) that the artile betrays it to be.. Updates are of course not mandatory either, I guess i'd rather get frequent updates than none at all!! any thoughts?

Should all ascii art posted in discussions on slashdot be protected free speech and immune from a negative moderation and recieve autmoatic +5 Moderation:) hehe just a thought!
great, just to let everyone know I'm starting a class action law-suit against the creators of PAC MAN. why you ask? well pac man let me to take drugs, from the early days when i first started playing the game made it perfectly clear to me that eating flashing dots(pills) i would become super strong and could eat(kill) ghosts(my enimies).. Because of this my life has been destroyed by continually eating flashing pills so i can kill ghosts.. i assume there is at least 100 million other people who ahve played pac-man and are entitled to join my class action lawsuit seeking damanges = 46quadrillion dollars...
Huh, well thats cool of them and funny too.... Can we get a live video feed of the lawyer burning? that would be more popular that the tim mcviegh killing(if it is webcase) hehe and we can donate all the money from the lawyer buring to OSS projects:)
If you read the fine print(always fun i know) under the terms, you'll see that the themese you create become property of IBM.... intersting... contest to win money for your favorite OSS and you create a theme for an OSS program and you don't even get to keep rights to it..... nifty eh?

Is that going to www.officeclipy.com (demise of office assistant page) and moving your mouse over the left hand options(info,voting etc etc) makes clippy say little things in a dialog box... including "ALL YOUR BASE ARE BELONG TO US"... kinda scary...
hmmm a dilema.... if censorware software blocks yahoo.. would they then have to block all the sites reachable through a yahoo link? ie.. great portion of all websites.... hehe that would be funnny...

The FCC agreement i beleive says that AOL only needs to open it up once they start offering Broadband(video i believe) type services... This a program and network they created initially for thier customers on their network, and then made it available for non-subscribers to talk to each other as well, Its a great program these days as well, especially the price.. free.. Can someone explain to me with ACTUAL GOOD reasons why they should not block companies who try to hack the protocol to communicate with them should not be blocked? No where does it say the RIGHT TO IM FELLOW AIM USERS SHOULD NOT BE ABRIDGED...... if you don't like it.. use another product or network and get your friends to do the same.. both yahoo and MSN have close to same amount of user base as AIM does these days and AOL customers can use them too.....
