Nothing being talked about on how they're trying to fix anything.
Because, Anoymous Coward, there's nothing to "talk about".
They're not trying to fix anything. They're not trying to deliver healthcare to the American people or fix the tax code. They're not trying to make Americans safer via sensible foreign policy. They're not attempting to boost the American economy or improve education or pretty much anything.
When they actually attempt to fix something with via sound sensible policy, I guarantee the media of all stripes will be all over it.
It is obvious that there is nothing more expensive than something a government is providing "for free"
I realize your argument is ideological, not fact based, but I'll bite.
Your central tenet is not true.
Take health care. I live in Canada, where we have single-payer universal healthcare funded mostly by taxes.
Were I to not pay those taxes and instead have to pay for the insurance myself I would pay much, much more. So yes, the healthcare would be much much more expensive.
Or take University Tuition. Tuition fees are much lower in Canada than the USA, due to taxpayer subsidies. Were one to pay it in full themselves, the cost would be much more expensive.
Let's say temperatures rise by 10 degrees celsius and oceans by 2 meters in the next 100 years, will conditions then be worse than the current conditions on the Moon and Mars?
Depends - If that warming of the earth / flooding and all the other resultant changes have led to world wars, tribalism and human societal collapse then yeah, maybe I would rather be living in a biodome on the moon.
Of all the things that might keep me up at night, it's wondering what world my children may have to deal with when they're my age.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S5 featured in the story - It's still working well. It's 4G LTE, has a removeable battery and microSD card slot and takes great pictures. It's running Android 6.
To alleviate that, we have received a badass white alpha male security officer that totally banged a klingon woman and lived to tell the tale! I wonder if that counts double?
'Fraid not, because Shazad Latif (born Shazad Khaliq Iqbal) is half-Pakistani.
there was less Star Trek in the free episode I saw than in the first five minutes of the average Orville episode.
Not really fair to judge it on the pilot. I remember 30 years ago watching the pilot to TNG and thinking "This is crap." Many season 1 episodes of TNG are unwatchable -
Now that we're into a few episodes, Discovery's got tons of classic Trek - Long, protracted scenes with Klingons talking about honour and war and the Klingon houses, all in the Klingon language (with subtitles). It's got Vulcans going on about their Katra and struggling with the influence of 'illogical' humans on their culture. It's got a starfleet struggling to define themselves as a fleet of 'peace and exploration' or a collection of warships. It's got a Kirk-esque captain who flaunts the rules in favour of 'getting her done' and who is fiercely loyal to his people.
Sure, it's got 2017-era special effects, editing and pace, and frequently dodges canon, but it's a solid entry.
Transporters Star Trek style have the major philosophical problem
Is this canon as to how transporters work? I know various authors / scientists over the years how postulated that this how they would have to work if they actually existed (scan you at the subatomic level, transmit data, rebuild you at subatomic level, confirm hash, destroy original) but has this been stated as fact?
It seems to me the various 'transporter accidents' we've seen over the years (broken transporter in ST:TMP, two Rikers, "Tuvix" et al) as well as Scotty storing himself in the transporter buffer for 75 years (or whatever it was) suggests it doesn't work that way.
Correction, not the doctor, the chief engineer. The doctor, who hasn't had much screen time, is a black male.
Yes, but the black doctor and white chief engineer are gay and in a relationship, so this automatically cancels out any Manly Man While Maleness that the whiny parent snowflake is going on about.
Not up here in America's hat. Here in Canada it's on basic cable on "Space" channel as well as on the Canadian CraveTV streaming service - But not Canadian Netflix.
When I was in Korea a few years back I was intrigued to see everyone on the subway watching OTA broadcast TV on their phones. This wasn't "streaming" video coming in over their data plan - The phones and tablets had antennas that extended from them and they were watching broadcast TV.
Do people genuinely have that much trouble assembling Ikea? My seven-year-old boy just built a bunch of cupboards for his room. All I had to do was some of the final hammering and screw tightening.
Nobody wants to be the friend of such an awful country that engages in social Darwinism
Problem is, as a west-coast-living Canadian I still want to be friends with parts of the USA - Washington, Oregon, California. Massachusetts, Vermont. Colorado. Hawaii & Alaska. So I want some, but not all.
Do you need a $1000+ latest shiny thing from Apple? Absolutely not.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S5. Bought it refurb'ed last year for around $150 CAD. I can visit Facebook, watch Netflix, take pictures, use navigation... Everything.
Friend's parents just bought a brand-new Acer Smartphone from Costco for $150 CAD. Ditto.
While I'd love to buy an electric car, I'd never buy a Tesla - I think they're overpriced and feel vaguely douchebaggy (I'm more of a Chevy Volt / Nissan Leaf kinda guy).
Nevertheless, I'm puzzled by the hate on for Tesla in this thread. It's a free market. If you don't like Tesla's sales / marketing tactics don't buy one. No one is forcing you to buy a Tesla.

How is this "obvious"?
Class actions can change corporate behaviour in a manner which benefits consumers.
Outright prohibiting them benefits no one other than the corporations.
Why do so many people think they can decide what is the "best interests" of other people?
Because they're not morons.
...so yeah, at a base level it's pretty easy to know what's in people's best interests.
Obviously not taking away healthcare from the working class is in their best interest.
Obviously allowing class actions against corporations (the topic of this thread) is in people's best interests.
Obviously not creating a tax cut for the wealthy which drives up the deficit and/or increases taxes for the middle class is in people's best interest.
on and on...

"Old phones?!?!"

Why would I "upcycle" it? (Whatever that means.)
No manly-man snowflake would accept that.
how old he was then?
Fifteen.

'Fraid not, because Shazad Latif (born Shazad Khaliq Iqbal) is half-Pakistani.
HUGE threat to white-manliness.
When they give me two different ways to watch a great new show, then, well, yeah.

Lots of people have sex and then put on something to sleep.

Netflix has it in every other country

but total cost of ownership over the life of the vehicle? same or less.
I have a friend with a Nissan Leaf who was an early adopter.
His wife has a Honda Accord.
His upfront cost to buy the car was about the same, and his cost to operate it are much, much lower.
Fuel costs? Something like $200 per year.
Maintenance / parts? Nada. Although he may need tires soon.
When I was in Korea a few years back I was intrigued to see everyone on the subway watching OTA broadcast TV on their phones. This wasn't "streaming" video coming in over their data plan - The phones and tablets had antennas that extended from them and they were watching broadcast TV.
Ikea's Stuff is Tough To Assemble

Is this really something grownups struggle with?

I would wager pretty good money that most of the far-right renditions of pepe are not digital copies but instead new artwork.
You create 'new artwork' of Mickey Mouse and Disney can still go after you. Same deal here.

> You mean Heil Soros
*George* Soros? _That_ Soros? Are you drunk?
(remember, the rally was to save a historic monument from being erased)
Ah, so that's what those scumbags waving Nazi flags and chanting "Jews will not replace us" were trying to do.
Thanks for clarifying, Anonymous Coward.
Yet everyone of you Trumpeter snowflakes post as Anonymous Cowards...
