The cop who signed off on this ticket is obviously not doing his job. This should at least be fraud, if not something more serious. Of course, there's no chance of the thug with a badge getting any sort of charges laid against him. There is no justice in the US.
Not fraud. Perjury. The cop is basically swearing that he witnessed the accused committing the act of speeding, and it is quite obvious that he did not. He lied to the court, in a round about way.
I'd argue you're both wrong. It's armed extortion. What happens if you don't pay? You might soon find yourself at the end of a barrel with a power hungry cop at the other end. At a minimum they should charge the cop/contractor that issued the ticket 100 times the face value of the ticket and send it to the defendant in such a nuisance case. I received a $40 ticket recently. Even if I win, I lose. The garage where you have to park is $15 minimum, may be more now. Just in time I'm way over that $40. However if I could get 100 times that $40, it would be worth it to most people. Of course the government wouldn't want that. They'd be losing money. Thought it was all about safety. Of course not.
Do you have specific evidence of wide ranging conspiracy in the climatological community that had almost every researcher a conspirator or not? If not, than just say so and then do the proper thing and deal with data and not with rhetorical games designed for your own choir.
You asked if researchers are capable of deceiving us for grants. The answer is yes. We're not talking little money, we're talking trillions and trillions over the world. I gave those examples because you can't dispute them and they should be troubling to you. Nobody wants to be made the fool. East Anglia e-mails showed us they are conspiring, only a fool would deny it. Complete with using non statisticians for statistics that determine what is happening. That's like using a Captain Crunch thermometer for scientific measurement. It may be right, we're not sure. Crappy science and you should know it, admit it. google "east anglia global warming hoax". Take your pick of sources since I know whatever one I cite you won't like. Plenty out there. Sorry if that's not the case, like I said I've been around this block before and it's a bad neighborhood. That's because if you don't agree with people who believe in MMGW, your a heretic. Get tar, feathers ready. Cast anything that shows it's a hoax or questions MMGW aside. There's plenty out there. All you need to do is look. More and more real scientists around the world are questioning it. It's a matter of time before it's shown to be the fraud it is. Just like the Ozone bit that Dupont put out there in the 1990s so they could sell their new stuff. I still run into people who believe that one. Most scientists stopped believing in it when NASA went to the south pole to measure the ozone hole, and it wasn't there. A very good friend of mine was on that team. Interesting trip though.
As for the data - yes, deal with it. The MMGW crowd has changed their models many times over the years because it was failing to predict the future. Especially for the backwards problem. I.e. the 1930s was the hottest decade in the 1900s for example, after Mr. Hansen fixed his "y2K bug", which I think was a load of crap. I honestly think he knew darn well he was wrong. Now they have a problem with CO2 levels for today. According to the last model that I examined, which may not be their current bullshi...er rather model, we should be much warmer given the concentration of CO2. Of course, if it's a symptom and not the cause - as it is, it falls apart. There is also the continual disaster - it's GW blame game. Sandy for example is not the worst. Hog Island was wiped out in 1893. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hog_Island_(New_York) . Listen to the BS from the MMGW crowd - Sandy was the worst ever and it's all our fault. What a load of manure. Hurricanes are natural, been happening for thousands of years. Nothing strange about Sandy, in fact it's strange we don't have more like Sandy to be honest with you.
Sorry guy. You probably really don't deserve this and it's probably way beyond you. Like I said, I've been around this block a few times. I'm a bit bitter. Perfectly good facts out there and they are being ignored so a very select few people can make billions. Nice gig if you can get it. Take something that nature is doing and convince people it's their fault.
Think that's something? A "woman's right to an abortion", which isn't a right at all is based on privacy believe it or not. The Constitution, the US Bill or rights (1st 10 amendments) are all online. I often challenge people to show me where in any of those documents it says a woman has a right to an abortion. It's not there.
I think we should have it available and legal - do the steps to make it a law and be done with it. They shouldn't say it's privacy. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roe_v._Wade
Do you actually believe scientists are going t join together in a vast cabal to deceive people about AGW for research grants?
Academic deception for money? Not speculation. It's fact. There is a lot of good research done, however it seems that is almost the exception now. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/health/8360667/Millions-of-surgery-patients-at-risk-in-drug-research-fraud-scandal.html http://www.socialnomics.net/2012/06/07/the-10-biggest-research-scandals-in-academic-history/ Well I could go on and on and on. Even in personal experience when I was an academic in the 1980s. Worse, a lot of these "studies" make their way into Congress and sometimes laws are passed on completely made up data and results (aka bullshit). Then they have to go back later and fix the law, if the guy that introduced the bill is man enough to admit they were deceived. A good example of this is the decision around recycling nuclear waste. Jimmy Carter passed a policy to not do it based on shoddy scientific studies saying that nobody else in the world would do it if we didn't do it. Of course the rest of the world isn't that stupid. Yet we are still stuck with this idea even though Reagan reversed it in the first month of his Presidency - so why don't we do it (while the rest of the world does)? They don't want to admit they were wrong. Same thing with economic models even though proof that it's wrong is abundant throughout the world. Greece for example - where the US is headed.
Brass tacks - it's a fact that things have been warming up. We know Venecians were trying to keep the Adriatic out in the 1300s. The sea was rising all the way back then well before we were industrialized. We also know we're coming out of a little ice age. Indeed, as the ice melts in Greenland they are finding the settlements that were there until about 500 years ago. http://www.archaeology.org/online/features/greenland/
I know, don't confuse things with facts. I often hate to say anything because this is close to being a religion. A non believer - might as well be before the Spanish Inquisition. To be clear, things are warming up. Man is almost certainly not responsible.
I use it all the time. Works great. When there's a problem, it seems it's a doozey though. Once you get past it, you're golden again. Not as bad as dealing with a POS like outlook.
I own a number of GM vehicles from 2000, 2001. Most of them have onstar. Worked great until around 2008. Then I got a notice to bring the car in so they could deactivate/remove them. For about $200 I could have replaced it with the new version of onstar that doesn't use the old analog lines. The great thing is using onstar they were able to remotely diagnose the car for any problems and even upgrade the software. I decided to not upgrade to the new system since the old cars aren't being updated at all any more.
But we CAN get the budget under control without riots. If only the politicians would have the courage to risk it.
But they can't. The Dem's have sold Obama as Santa Claus. Free gasoline, free cell phones, free health care, free education. Just tax the rich they said. I've actually heard people say Obama will fill their gas tank. Quite a trick, eh?
One thing is for sure, the health care as they have it in law right now isn't sustainable mathematically. Neither is Social Security. Neither is the deficit. You'd need a big economic engine to support that and we don't have it. Obama is tightening regulation - meaning more paperwork. It's as if he wants things to fail to be honest.
Where's inflation? It's defying logic, for a long time. You can put it off but when it hits it will be worse the longer you wait. We've put it off for a long time. Keynesian economics - put it off for the next generation. THE most unethical economist that probably ever lived.
To get our budget under control you're looking at what Greece is going through. That's riots, buildings on fire, etc as these entitled people are denied their entitlement and they discover their promises was a bunch of lies. I have a feeling all this will come out and when it does it won't be pretty. Just try to stay away from it and stay alive and out of jail. I have a feeling there will be a lot of opportunity to get screwed coming up.
The green back may become worthless. No more gasoline for anyone because there is nothing to pay for it. No food. No electric, and no Internet! I'd be fine, however many people would be like zombies without the internet. Unfortunately as we go down we take other nations that depend on the dollar for reserve currency.
Read though this.. I bet I'll get you to laugh. Nothing like life.
Let's take you back to grade school. Congress is the one that does the budget, not the President. He can either approve or veto it. The ONLY reason we nearly balanced the budget under Clinton was with the Republican controlled Congress. If you look at the debt clock site, adjusted for inflation, it's definitive. Clinton fought it kicking and screaming, shutting down the government for weeks until he capitulated. We had welfare reform, they shut down a bunch of useless agencies and so on. I worked in the agency that was attached to the Interstate Commerce Commision. Their last action at that point was TEN years before their demise. Literally did NOTHING for a decade. Republicans do work and work well. You're confused by the outright lies from the left. It's not surprising, it starts in the schools. Look here - http://www.brillig.com/debt_clock/faq.html, scroll about half way down where it's adjusted. Still pitiful. If we only continued with a Republican congress into the 2000s.
If you don't hear that stuff on the left, you're not listening. Just look at Obama's "the rights war on women.". What a load of crap. "Romney will take away your 'right' to an abortion." Really? The President can overturn a Supreme Court decision? Of course not. That's not even being considered. They said the same thing about Reagan, nothing happened. So now you, I, everyone has to pay for women to have free contraception. Does this mean Obama has a war on Men? Where's my contraception? How absurd, how absurd on the womans side. What a load of rottin goods and people bought it. Then "the rich" stuff. All kinds of race baiting. The left called Mr. Steele a Nigger. Called Herman Cane a Nigger too. Just google it. Joe Biden and his chains bit. It's all out there if you're listening.
Conservatives are also not homophobic. Just because you don't want a very small minority to redefine marriage - something that is a religious entity for THOUSANDS of years the world over and was codified into law for separation purposes, that doesn't make you a homophobe. Conservative - yes because you are preserving what worked. How dare gay people try to shove that down the rest of the worlds throats. Call it something else, make it legally the same thing and have a nice day. If I were asked, I'd make it what it is - screwed. Then you can go to a screwing. They were screwed. A few years later they'll even agree they were screwed. Especially when they go to court to undo it. I'd extend it though. I'd make it such that a daugher and her mother or other relatives can get screwed too. That way they too can take advantage of the laws for being married. Happens more than I thought.
We also have learned from history that any nation that doesn't secure its boarders will fall. We have laws on immigration. Why not enforce them? Why say this is somehow racist when hispanic isn't even a race. It's an ethnicity. They are white. People that I know that are naturalized are really upset about it. Much more than I am. One guy is from Bangladesh. I asked about their illegal alien policy. He said it was simple. If he went into India or they come into Bangladesh - you're shot. If you survive you're shot again. Only America bends over and says - let me look away. Here's some money too. Now let me help you some too. As some sothern states showed us, they could be gone by the end of December. Just pass laws like they did. They left in droves. Our job problem would likely get a big boost, hospitals will be a lot more solvent, things will improve dramatically.
This is not to say that I'm happy with the GOP. Right now they're our best bet. That's sad. We need a big overhaul. Both parties are just bad. Right now we're screwed. It will take a lot to fix what's wrong, especially since Obama is running up the debt more and faster than anyone. Before the election he had already run it up more than all the previous presidents combined. Where's the benefit? We should be swimming in stuff. He squandered it. We will be Greece. It's just a matter of time.
What happened Steve? That boat isn't nearly cool enough looking to be something you came up with. Not often someone artistic in one area can translate into another area like ship building. I would have started with something like Ellison's Ronin. Cross with a Aegis cruiser. Doesn't matter, we'll remember you for the company and that hot chick in red shorts in the 1984 commercial.
Take guys like Jefferson, Lincoln, Carnegie, Edison. Jefferson every today would put probably our best people to shame Jefferson had such a command of the language. As I have interviewed people over the past 3 decades I certainly thought they were better in the past. Some today are dumber than a box of rocks, yet they got good grades.
Offhand I suspect the testing is being dumbed down. Just like school is.
I'm not sure where to even start. Honestly, I have to ask - are you smoking something? How do you get from what I wrote to the dark ages, plague, Columbus, Machiavellian... and even Darwin? Is there some other story or something that I never wrote showing up? You may disagree, however don't do the typical liberal thing of bringing someone elses baggage. Putting words I never said into my mouth. That's not nice and could end up badly for you in certain company.
Briefly: Read More guns, less crime. You'll understand why we need to arm people. It makes society much safer. Along that logic we need to execute people - publicly. Again, we need to be sure we have the right person. Not an eye witness. I want really good proof or a confession that we're sure wasn't coerced. I'd prefer that we didn't need to do that. However some things like patting a young child on the butt to tell them not to do something is necessary. Some people really do need to see a real execution. If that's not for you, don't come. You see it in the paper, look at something else.
BTW - Darwin and lemmings, you do know that was a load of crap, right? Lemmings don't run off cliffs.
If the transmitter isn't exactly matched with the antenna, it will cause a standing wave. Sometimes noted as a SWR or Standing Wave Ratio. If it's too high it's going to wear on the electronics, eventually killing them. Back in the old days with CB type radios it was very simple to fix. Wave was I think 10' if I remember right. So the closer you got it to exactly 10', the better. Some radios would allow you to do it with a meter. With these routers you're in the millimeter range - good luck getting that right. I have an old WTG54 and it still works well. The Netgear I bought didn't last a month. They're cheap enough, just buy a new one.
No, you mean that evolution didn't happen to be the cause of the origin of life. The mathematics of the statements of how selection works aren't going to disappear any more than the mathematics of Newtonian mechanics are.
You lost me or perhaps the current incarnation of evolution has lost you. They have updated it a number of times since just 1970 as their "fact" evolves, or is it created.
That goes more to my point. Did natural selection have anything to do with why a given species is here today? Could be that changes resulted in something bad and it died out of course. Climate could have been a big factor as well. Understand that if things heat up you won't see it in the ice record because it's too warm to record. Climate "scientists" overlook that, changes their models in a way they don't like. Other things can happen as well. Things colliding with earth. Why we have gold scattered over Alaska for example. There are many ways things die out. Dinos for example - evolution? Of course not. Evolution had nothing to do with their demise. Many other things could happen or not happen to bring things along. Adaptation for example is a new extention to classic evolution. That's because evolution was crap as originally defined. It was originally defined in the atheist agenda. No doubt about that.
So I hope you understand why evolution has absolutely nothing to do with Newtonian mechanics. That's definitive (at least in the way I think you mean it). There is nothing definitive about evolution. Most if not all evolution scientists will admit that it isn't fact - but it's the best scientific theory we have. That's because you can't prove God either, at least right now. Science probably knows around 25% of what is out there (being generous). Who is to say that in that 75% of what isn't know they will find God? Science has already shown that things in the Bible either could have happened or did happen. Once thought to be so out there it was clearly made up. It could also be that we are some kids Science Fair experiment. A simulation. They are trying to figure that out too. So I'm not so quick to say that creationalism is crap. It may not be totally right, like Capitalism isn't perfect. However like Capitalism it may be the best that we can do so far. Maybe evolution is right. I'm not convinced either way. In the mean time religion often a good way to keep us from killing each other (your neighbors are just like you, we can be friendly and get along). That's a very tall order too. If we had natural selection in a civilized society, things would be a lot different around here. When you go that way, people often call you a monster. They (evolution crowd) want it both ways.... if you follow my thought here. Maybe I've totally lost you by now.
So I'd be interested to see how he responds, if he responds at all to this comment that I made. I expect he won't respond. If he does, great. Maybe I'll learn something. If not, that's fine too. Either way it isn't going to change my life. There will always be people who don't agree with me. There always is one in a crowd. That's fine.
If they teach something in school, they should teach both and any other theories. Not each religion, a union of them in a synopsis would be fine. Until one is fact, let's not get so excited. Seems we are all upset about being accused of being a fool or stupid.
You wrote the God delusion. As if God doesn't exist because we can't prove it in a measureable way in the physical world. Since nobody has seen evolution in action, please explain why the God Delusion is any different than your own delusion that natural selection/whatever you are comfortable with is fact. It's just a theory too. It could turn out that so called evolution doesn't exist at all. It could very well be something else that changes an organism into something else. Cosmic ray, bad radiation covering from ozone, many other things.
Let the law work. That's what it's for. How dare anonymous think that they have some right or obligation to do what they did. Suppose they have the wrong guy? This very thing has happened before and is why we have the law in the first place. Suppose this fellow they think did it gets whacked, then they find out he wasn't even the guy? That has happened before too.
Learn from the past, don't repeat bad parts of it.
This is irrational thinking. Executing him won't bring her back. Locking him up will prevent him from committing further crimes. You're engaging in a version of the sunk cost fallacy.
Not doing executions is irrational thinking. Not doing the execution in public is irrational thinking. Have a day for executions like they used to. Construct the gallows say at the Washington Monument in DC. Hang him, hang him high! The message gets out. Now it's out of the way where nobody but a very select few can see. Repeat with the next cold blooded murderer that we know for sure really is a murderer. It works. Look at Baltimore city (doesn't have Death penalty) and Baltimore country (has DP). It's amazing the difference that political line makes. Less crime and murder in the country. Yet crazy people say it's not a deterrent. Can't explain that line either.
Arm people too. Issue carry permits. Bring respect back.
For some strange reason, nicotine addiction is viewed in society as acceptable. If someone would stop working every few hours and go out for a drink they would be called an alcoholic and fired quickly. Yet when others take 'smoke breaks' with the same frequency noone seems to care. It's not a problem when you smoke every now and then (at least it's not my problem), but if you can't survive without nicotine for 8 hours that's a serious addiction.
We care but we can't do anything about it. It's really something when a dude goes out, comes back and he's putting off so much stuff that I can smell it in MY urine!
I have an allergy to the base in some perfumes -- my nose runs constantly, my eyes tear up, it's very unpleasant. Should we ban perfume? I'm on board!
How about this: We err on the side of freedom. Let businesses decide to allow or not allow smoking, peanuts, or perfume. We consider any policy that discriminates against workers for engaging in legal activity (smoking, eating peanuts, wearing perfume) outside of work to be unlawful.
Be glad you don't work where I do. Cleaning lady sometimes wears enough perfume that she could cover a shit wagon. Can smell her down the hall. They actually told her to knock it off. Wife wondered what she was trying to cover.... Ugh.
Why send that message via text anyway? How impersonal. He should have called her, swooned her and then enjoyed her lovely hot encounter. I'd never consider sending my wife a text for that.
They did this in a University setting, that is a leftist type setting. They discriminate more than anyone else I've found. You know, free speech - for them, and so on. I've worked for a number of companies and I could see the pay and experience, up until the late 1980s. Then I was simply to high up to see that information anymore. I found that women were actually paid more than men for the same education and experience with respect to a given - non subjective job. I didn't see much of a performance difference. Salary is often very interesting. Take Oprah and her hair dresser. Why should Oprah make hundreds of millions more? That hair dresser is probably just as talented as Oprah is.
On a world scale, yes, yes he is. The US view of "center" is just fucked off to the right by a lot.
There are sites out there that offer a political test. You can see where you sit. When I take it I'm right in the middle, almost dead center. Obama on the other hand would be far left. Just to the right of a guy like Stalin or Marx perhaps. The rest of the world has been sold a bill of goods for years. They have clearly suffered a great deal for it. Look at France, Spain, Greece, Cuba, etc.. The US Capitalism isn't perfect, however it's the best humanity has come up with so far.
The cop who signed off on this ticket is obviously not doing his job. This should at least be fraud, if not something more serious. Of course, there's no chance of the thug with a badge getting any sort of charges laid against him. There is no justice in the US.

Just curious - can you show me scientific proof that CO2 causes warming? Could it be a symptom and not the cause?

I've also met some very strong evolution people who changed after a near death experience. A recent article of a Doctor that shows his experience can be found here - http://www.thedailybeast.com/newsweek/2012/10/07/proof-of-heaven-a-doctor-s-experience-with-the-afterlife.html . Read it carefully. You may be too smart for your own good Mr. Dawkins.
Bad thing about anti-lock brakes is that people are depending on them more and driving more aggressively. I hope the same thing doesn't happen here.
Ugh.
He's a product manager. They're a dime a dozen and I've seen plenty.
