Let's take it a step further and say the we never have to actually type ".com" anymore. In firefox, just type the high level domain in the address bar and press enter. It does a google "I'm feeling lucky" search which takes me where I intended to go 99.9% of the time. In i.e. type the high level domain in the address bar and press ctrl + enter to add the "http://" and ".com". It's that easy.
What? People still play this horrible game? It's a nightmare form a game design perspective! The winner of the game is decided so early on in play, 80% of the time spent playing the game is virtually pointless because everyone can tell who is going to win (unless he/she makes an incredibly dumb trade or someone cheats).
At least if they're going to upgrade the game aesthetics, why not change the name to "Microsoft: The Game"?

I agree. I have a strong bias towards AMD and nVidia. But besides that, I've always thought it beneficial to have the options of Intel/AMD + nVidia/ATI. I hope this doesn't mean that ATI chips will get married to AMD or visa versa (such as degraded performance with non-partner chips)!
Ah, ok, I see your point. I personally just synchronize my iPod with my whole music library so I don't have to deal with playlists or individual files and such and so forth.
My guess would be that MS won't make it any easier to use their device as platform analagous than apple did. Knowing their marketing tactics as we do, they will likely want to force the user to use a Windows OS and probably only MS software like WIMP or whatever is on the xbox360, to create additional MS product dependencies.
I think the change may come as a virtue of being one of the first, at least widely popular games, to have forever new content. The whole "massively single player" idea that WW is riding on is somewhat revolutionary, you have to admit. Many people love WoW or FFXI or EQ for the aspect of exploring new content. I have had so many friends abandon a MMORPG because they ran out of new content to find, and it got boring as a result.
Spore's advantage is two-fold:
1) As long as there are people playing and have a connection to the internet, there will be infinte new content.
2) (Correct me if I'm wrong) Not being pay-per-month like most modern MMORPGs, and no buying millions of expansion packs to get new content (The Sims).
Well, the point of the videos was a demo . The point was to cover all of the phases of the game in a reasonable amount of time to expose us to all or most of the game elements. I do believe it was mentioned in at least one of the demos that the final game was being very much paraphrased, and that each phase would take a substantially longer time to advance.
As for the card game, WW explains in the E3 demo that a new "cool factor" that they are trying out with the game is the ability to make a tradable card game out of the user-generated content. e.g. You evolve a creater, it get appropriate stats from the parts you pick for it, and a card is generated from that. You can also add to your virtual card collection as you explore the spore universe and discover other peoples creaters?
A blatant marketing tactic? Most likely. But knowing Maxis, they will try to capitalize on the popularity and addictiveness of other game types (card games).
So wait a second. I thought the project known as Windows 'Longhorn' was titled Windows 'Vista'! linky
Why confuse folks by not giving the server project, which has a different, unrelated release date, a different name?:-(
I welcome this as good news as I will be in the market after this summer for constructing an entire gaming rig from scratch on a tight budget (yay summer internships). Not to put in a plug for Wal-Mart, as I loathe feeding the corporate giant as much as the next hippie, but money is tight and I need a rig!
"Why not just order from the internet?!" - Well, because I prefer to be able to return something in person if it is defunct or incompatible, rather than dealing with mailing things back and forth and waiting. A comfort factor really. And now I won't have to pay out the nose for that convenience because I have a feeling Wal-Mart will price their products very competitively.

My University used to go by a dont ask don't tell policy when it came to p2p sharing. But then my University was also a large target for some reason for indictments to hundereds of it's students from teh RIAA. Many lawsuits as the Uni was forced to hand over identities.
Then my Uni decided to sign up for a liscened music sharing program called Ruckus. Students have actually become accustomed to it even though it locks the music into it's own player. I think It's a decent strategy to effectively curb illegal sharing and thus the number of indictments.
But what about those of us who are getting their certifications through Uni? My school offers elective credits for taking a Cisco Academy class leading up to taking CCNA/CCNP exams for a grade.
Earning a 4-year degree and getting certs at the same time = win? Or, am I wasting time and money by paying $125 for each exam, and should be taking some other elective?
>> "So you suggest the Milton defence?"
No, the Chewbacca defense!

"The galaxy is in Orion's belt"
Personally, I'd rather have my family curl up around a good game of Carcassonne :-)

and iTunes/iPod doesn't have this?
My apologies for the attrocious punctuation and spelling errors. Thank you to whoever modded it up anyway.

This isn't an argument! This is just arbitrary contradiction!

Hook, line, and sinker.
