    what is to become of future releases of GNU/Linux distros? is GPLv2 compatible with GPLv3? will this cause problems with distributors of GNU/Linux? will it now be GNU -_- Linux forever separated by incompatible licenses unless the Linux kernel and other GPLv2 products are upgraded to GPLv3?

    i surely hope RMS did not make a mess of things...

    i am no uber geek capable of writing my own OS & apps, but i do manage to get Slackware installed & configured in to a pretty sweet desktop. if this turns out to be a fly in the ointment i guess there always is FreeBSD, PCBSD or DesktopBSD, i tried these BSDs mentioned they are ok & usable, but i really like Slackware and would hate to see this turn Linux in to an un-usable litigious conundrum leaving me with only the BSDs to use, i refuse to use MS-Windows as i don't trust for anything (especially connected to the intertubes)...

    if Microsoft quit distributing to retail shops & OEM PC makers and started their own in-house PC company it wont bother me, (i build my own) and if the OEM makers (Dell, Gateway, HP) started distributing to users a choice of DOS, BSD or Linux that would be just peachy with me...

    i believe RMS's intent is to disable corporate interests such as the Microsoft/Novell deal & other similar deals from exploiting GPLed software, it basically closes a loophole, RMS is free to license his code however he sees fit...

    release the source code to the Safari web browser under the BSD or GPLv2 license and let the developing community contribute and improve it, it cant hurt and in most cases help...

    in light of microsoft's inability to build a secure system & application and users refusal to switch to a more secure system (BSD,Linux) is about the same as refusing to get off the rail-road tracks knowing a freight-train is about to run you over...

    i can understand the troll status of your comment as digital cameras are off topic, but digital cameras are not an issue for Linux as they all work fine in Linux, almost all of them are just FAT32 storage devices as far as Linux is concerned, unless you compiled your own kernel and did not add support for FAT32 or missed something else like USB support, but i am just giving you the shadow of a doubt just incase you are not being a troll and really need help with your digital camera...

    not me personally, i do not purchase cheap electronic gadgets, i never owned a PDA or mp3 player, only one cellphone i owned for several years, i am not saying the USA is totally innocent but i think partisan politics cause a lot of the bad rap, just watch CNN's Headline news in the morning and the Air Traffic Report (all those commercial aircraft in the sky on a daily basis) rush hour traffic on the streets everyday too...

    i own an S-10 chevy pickup with a little four cylinder engine (2.2CU.IN) that only gets driven 2 to 3 days a week locally (semi-retired & work part time)...

    i do recycle my trash, i recycle, tin cans, aluminum cans, plastic, paper, cardboard, when i started recycling = the trash i take to the curb for the sanitation crew to pick up went from a 30 gallon can full down to a five gallon bucket...

    i was referring to ALL pollutants in general, pollution to the water/sea groundwater, air (not just CO-2) and land (pollution on land ends up in water) = (all water, drinking water, streams, rivers, the ocean etc...)

    i do not believe those stats are accurate, i believe China is #1 since they have absolutely no regulation on industrial pollution and no regulations for residences that most of which still burn coal brick for heating and cooking...

    china is a friggin filthy mess, most do not hear about it because if the chinese government's strict control on the media...

    I agree global warming is man made, but to put the blame on the USA is wrong! China is the #1 world leader when it comes to polluting on planet earth. With Russia coming in a close second with India trailing close behind Russia in third place. The E.P.A. would shut down any factory or business so blatantly spewing pollutants at the rate China, Russia & India does...

    yes, that is just what i was thinking, in order to do this acoustic caller ID thing they would have to record the caller's voice and recording people in telephone conversations is illegal unless the caller is notified of the call being recorded...

    the source code to GNU/Linux is completely open and available for free download and GNU/Linux still has much better security than microsoft windows, that does prove that closed source does not make for better security...
