    Yes, TFA is sparse on the details, but if this is the attack, it is detected by several anti-virus packages.

    That rootkit is very stealthy. It might most easily be detected by watching your httpd server logs for random javascript files being served. Some details here.

    Note: I don't know that the above is the exploit described in TFA. I believe this subject was discussed earlier on slashdot. It was in The Reg as well.

    This has come full circle - back before internet connectivity was so wide spread, there were a few ftp via email gateways. (Yes, there were other networks alongside the internet.) You'd send your ftp commands and get email back (a few days later or the next week) with the uuencoded result.

    Now you have email viruses delivered via FTP. Cool.

    The astrologists have already shown themselves to be gullible and trusting - perhaps you can exploit that for your own ends. I guess this is more an ethical problem.

    Or perhaps just hypothetical. I'm not sure that scientists attract hot astrologists.

    Well, I was thinking more along the lines that these airports have so little trust in the pilots that they expect to have to use this information when the planes crash, but yes - you're on the right track. Victim ID is the primary reason for these sorts of biometrics. However, they are going about it wrong. DNA sampling would be better, and likely quicker.

    Perhaps, but what is scary is that the minority opinion - of almost half of the judges - did indicate that the law was overly broad and may be construed to hamper (e.g.) religious speech.

    I am probably more offended by the religious and political spam that I've recieved than by the commercial spam. The shear bulk of the commercial make it the umm "winner" by force of arms.

    3 of 7 of your judges need a clue.

    This is a new study of the same thing. I think the 2002 study is referenced in the current study as:

    Khan A, Leventhal R, Khan S. 2002. Severity of depression and response to antidepressants and placebo: an analysis of the Food and Drug Administration database. J Clin Psychopharmacol. 22:4045.

    If you're thinking "why a new study?", you have to remember that the 2002 one didn't seem to have much effect either.

    Mmmmm. Placebo. The true wonder drug of the 20th century.

    No one says that. But fish and humans have a common ancestor, which was not a fish nor was it a human.

    Okay, the most recent piscine/human common ancestor wasn't human (nor even mammal), but I don't see how you can rule that it wasn't a fish. If you're saying that it wasn't a modern fish, that might make some sense, but still, it could very well be something which would be classified as a fish.
