I was actually thinking of something more like a color Blackberry but those Archos things look interesting. We do a lot with Final Cut Pro, so MPEG-4 isn't an issue. Hmmm. She's gonna want one, god alone knows for what. I can see some applications for this at presentations.
Sigh.
I may regret this, but I'm going to forward that link to my work address. Maybe we can bill it to AV's overhead budget instead of "mine".
I have an Executive Producer upstairs who is Dead Set on getting a wireless device she can watch movies on - so she can see rough cuts while on location. And she'll authorize whatever the gadget will cost.
Of course, in the consumer market the parent poster is probably right.
~/Documents/Microsoft User Data includes the Saved Attachments folder - which has copies of everything you've ever opened from within Entourage. Backing this folder up may or may not waste space. You technically only need ~/Documents/Microsoft User Data/Office X Identities/Main Identity for all your stuff. But storage media is cheaper than losing changes made to a document that were then saved back into the Saved Attachments folder. YMMV.
Incidentally, I usually alias Saved Attachments to the users preferred download location. This makes finding things easier, especially archives expanded from within Entourage.
Since the OJ tangent has already been explored I'd like to summarize: The LAPD got caught framing a guilty man. The jury returned the appropriate verdict for what they saw in court.
It's a tough situation. Mr. Crew did manage to beat a company who can "blacken the sky with lawyers", but $3k/hr is well past silly. A meeting of the legal team could cost my annual salary in an afternoon.
The bitter irony of all this is that the suit Mr. Crew was involved in was for overcharging customers in the first place. I'm going to have to write a nasty note to "my" attorney general. The California settlement really does let MS off much too lightly.
They're a pretty bad rip-off of the IBM campaign. Which has been brilliant. The IBM spots don't make specific promises, but they do have a keen insight to convey. Anybody else really, really, really need a "Business Reality Detector" ?
We do get the bosses' kids from time to time, but we use Macs:-)
The original MK movie was a fun remake of Enter the Dragon, not surprising as the movie was reported/rumored to originally be a Brandon Lee vehicle. Even without him it managed to be an entertaining kung fu flick. And I love that soundtrack - George Clinton and 808 State are a powerful combination. Christopher Walken as Raiden ? C'mon, that's entertaining in its own right.
I'd like to see a modernized version of Rebellion and a new X-Wing game set during the Clone Wars. Make 'em fully modern graphically and apply another few years worth of advancement into the single-player game. Maybe add a dynamic campaign. I've played some pickup missions in flight sims using a dynamic multiplayer campaign - that would rock. But I'm dreaming.
I have this sneaking suspicion the the MMORPG space combat isn't built on X-Wing v Tie Fighter or anything like a space combat sim.
And all that MOO3 proved was that games that aren't fun don't sell very well. Word of mouth on this title is just a notch or two below Daikatana levels. Maybe it should be OINK3, I dunno. Maybe for $5... yes, I'll admit to bagging a game that I haven't played - I had to, it was a good line.
Naaah, that'd actually be a cool movie. I am, of course, hoping the parent's Martha Stewart joke is speculation. If they do a Martha movie I hope they get Ana Gasteyer to play Martha:_)
Try this cover of Brain Damage. Bet you never thought you'd hear a fast, Bluegrass cover of a Floyd track, hmmm ? The Lizards are brilliant, I recommend both albums on iTMS highly, especially for The 1984 Blues.
I have a "Rarities" smart playlist. It's set to Play Count 6 with live updating enabled. When I feel like hearing stuff I don't usually listen to I switch to that playlist. When stuff gets played enough, it drops off of the rarities list but will still be in my main list. It's very nice.
I use Trance Control for most of my battle music. They've got albums and MP3s available (free reg and putting up with Flash required) on their website. It's mostly fast and melodic - some ambient some hardcore.
I checked out Tiesto on iTMS and I think you'll find Trance Control to be better for combat.
The EFF doesn't sue for damages resulting from violation of the GPL. They threaten to sue for copyright infringements (and possibly make a criminal complaint as well). Cisco was faced with the choice between paying a fine of $150,000 per copy and facing criminal charges or releasing some source code (one of the Linksys products iirc). Cisco settled, released and (probably) paid the EFF's costs.
In my dorm room about 10 seconds away from a quick WHOIS lookup and a phone call. C&S' ISP was fairly nonchalant about their phone ringing off the hook. Nonchalant in the 'oh hi, yes you aren't the only pissed off Usenetter we've talked to today' sense not the 'so what ?' sense.
'They' did. It's called EVE Online. You pilot a spaceship, run missions, hunt mobs (PvE) and there's LOTS of PvP. The gameplay is good, the client is well-polished (now) and the graphics are first-rate. But if you don't want to join a corporation you're pretty much sidelined and anyone who did join one can own you in combat.
If I were into PvP and clans I'd still be playing. EVE is, in my opinion, no good for the casual solo player. For those that like that sort of thing it can't be beat.
I tried that address during the broadcast - I sent him my spam folder (a dozen or so, cleaned it out earlier that day). For some reason his account was over quota...
I'm posting from my PC too - it has the bigger monitor. And until there are Insanely Great flight-sims on the Mac, my fastest machine and videocard will be running Windows. At least it's an AMD CPU. And has Cygwin installed...
I feel kinda bad about it, but I have an addiction to feed.
Seriously, try the IL-2 demo if you have a PC handy.

Thanks. I think.
Good link ! Pity I'm out of mod points. I just forwarded it to a friend working on his MBA (he's one of the few I'd trust to wield the Martin Act).

I still check out wired once or twice a year, just to see if they've moved themselves to the "Tired" column.

A Deseret Eagle ? When did the Mormons get into the arms business ?

Agreed. We've been waiting for a really good DMCA test case. One where it's being used against a newspaper is propbably the best possible test case.
No, that's a Rogue Squadron game. I mean the flight-sim-in-space games: X-Wing, Tie Fighter, etc.

Good news:
:_)
""Aeon Flux" is currently casting."
Bad News:
Hollywood is making "Stranger in a Strange Land"
Interesting prospect:
Paramount is working on a film called Paranoia.
Naaah, that'd actually be a cool movie. I am, of course, hoping the parent's Martha Stewart joke is speculation. If they do a Martha movie I hope they get Ana Gasteyer to play Martha
So they've dropped the misfeature in more recent versions ?
Whaaaaa ?????
I want a source on this, preferably two.

Naaaah

Hmmm. WINE. A thought...
