No, it's generally not, although you will usually get a product of some sort quickly. It's best to think of it as 'disposable software', which I suppose os fine in a few rare situations.
I mostly agree with a ban on cellphone driving, mostly because when I see erratic driving, the person is on a cellphone... however, it does seem unfair to punish those who can drive while talking without a loss in attention or skill. I'd rather see the bad driving punished more harshly, regardless of the cause.
In this case even the fans would have to stretch to defend the new policy. It's a fairly obvious dick move by Apple in the same spirit as the "Go screw yourself Apple" quote in the summary. This is a "Go screw yourself Adobe", and other frameworks are most likely collateral damage.
I was exempted from a few first semester classes in college after initial testing, which was nice as it game me a bit more time to spend on other classes. I think the real benefit though is that people who didn't plan on taking any higher education still got a good introduction to more advanced math and science than they would otherwise. It could help a lot of them in later endeavours and in some cases even give them an extra push towards going to college.
We had 4 and 5 year paths through high school in Ontario up until fairly recently and I think it worked quite well. The 5th year in the advanced path had lots of science and math courses (physics, chemistry, calculus, functions and relations, algebra) as well as the usual English, history, etc. I'm still not sure why it was cancelled, the class sizes were always big enough (20-30).
You can try it out without any harm. It's... interesting. It is actually quite usable and does give a lot of features that will be quite nice for people that use multiple desktops. I tend to use a single desktop and gnome-do to provide quick access, so I find it gets in the way a bit. There's a few things I don't like about it that I can't change, like the panel at the top of the screen. I prefer it at the side instead, as my netbook and laptops both have decent horizontal resolution but crappy vertical. Perhaps they'll fix that.
I haven't tried 2.3, but I'm sure it will be minimal incremental improvement over the previous version. Nice to see that they're trying new things... as long as they leave the damn window controls where they belong.
Perhaps the major game studios should get together a build a console. It's actually surprising it hasn't happened.. as a group, they certainly have the money these days. I'm not sure it would be a good thing...
I wish people would stop saying this. Linux, in the form of Ubuntu and other distros, is as easy to use as Windows in most cases, and even easier in some cases.
Interesting... I was exactly the same, including it being the push to do it for other sites as well. They may be on to something here. The ads on Slashdot are not too intrusive eitehr, and I get a kick out of the fact that there's Microsoft advertisements.
Now if only I could get some mod points. It's been over a year since I had any....
Libraries will lend you these 'books' for little or no money.
We've asked you politely to stop posting here Mr. Balmer.

Basically, if you only know the stuff that's been made into movies, then you don't know Dick.

How about this ... they have an approval process, so use that to disallow sub-standard applications regardless of the language that they're written in.
Much like Chuck Norris ... it's not hunting, as that implies the possibility of failure. James Gosling goes job *killing*.
This kills framework other than Flash, although I think they're most likely collateral damage.

For IBM software seems to be a way to sell expensive consulting services. Don't buy it, it just encourages them.
I think they're hoping that the people don't notice that the opposite can be true as well.
It sucks that you're right. Theora is the 'right' choice, but it's looking like it's too late.
I should have been more specific in the parent post ... I was referring to Gnome Shell.
In 2.3 yes, in 3.0, no, or not last time I checked.
Not in 3.0 from what I've seen. Likewise with the sidebar ... it's currently locked in position as well.

... after a year? I've been assuming it's a bug.

I think all of this (the window button, the search engine, the colours) is to grab some media attention.
No, activley drop his sites and make him beg.

Finally something that sounds like it's actually patentable.
