  1. Re:Some PC titles have good music too on Twelve Game Music Tracks Worth Keeping · · Score: 1

The Interstate '76 soundtrack is online at http://www.interstate76.com/download/i76audio.htm.

  2. Re:Sick and tired on MS Requiring More Expensive Vista if Running Mac · · Score: 1

You do know that every time someone starts this whole 'lower UID' business, someone with a four-or-fewer-digit UID who never posts except to flaunt his UID will come in and rain on your parade, right?

  3. Re:And another thing... on Saga of Ryzom, Free and Open Source Software? · · Score: 1

The solo content in EVE is overwhelmingly boring. What makes EVE worth playing for me is the PVP side of things. Unlike WoW, dying actually has consequences, and it's the higher stakes that make it so enjoyable.

  4. Why? on How Would You Usurp the Web Browser? · · Score: 3, Insightful

I think a better question would be: Why Would you Usurp the Web Browser?

  5. Photoshop on Left Sided Windows Scrollbars? · · Score: 1

I'm left-handed, but mouse with my right and always have. I guess it seemed at the time that it was more trouble to move the mouse than it was worth. Fast forward twelve years, and I play all sorts of games, can hold my own in most FPS games, all while mousing right-handed. The thing that gets me, though, despite the ease at which I can do everything else on the computer, is that I can't for the life of me do anything worthwhile in Photoshop or any other graphics program for that matter. That's the only time my left-hand dominance comes through.

  6. Send him the Wii version... on Jack Thompson Files Take-Two, Rockstar Lawsuit · · Score: 1

So he can't test it out until after the release date!

  7. Re: Major Security Hole Found In Rails on Major Security Hole Found In Rails · · Score: 1

    Sounds a lot like Amtrak...

  8. Re:I need to get more sleep on One Man's Spam Is Another Man's Art · · Score: 2, Informative

I thought that too, and then remembered that it's come true already... the album covers for Metallica's Load and Reload albums are blood and sperm between plates of glass.

  9. PC Gamer on The State Of U.S. Videogame Magazines · · Score: 2, Interesting

I used to get PC Gamer (US), from about 1996 through 2002. I remember one issue, somewhere around '99, was 444 pages! Even taking into account that gaming mags are half advertising, that's still a lot of content. PC Gamer these days is barely a pamphlet compared to its heyday. Also, the magazine's quality has gone downhill each time the management/ownership has changed, and IMHO, isn't worth reading anymore.

  10. Re:Discrimination on Site Says 'Go Away!'; Federal Court Says No · · Score: 1

IIRC, The Boy Scouts were allowed by the courts to ban gays from being scout leaders. The court's opinion was that the BSA is a private organization and is allowed to restrict membership on whatever criteria they choose.

  11. Terraforming on One Small Breath For Man · · Score: 1

Does the moon have enough gravity to hold in an atmosphere, or would there have to be some collection apparatus linked to this device in order to be of any use?

  12. Re:Stunning new black enclosure? on Apple Unveils New Macbook · · Score: 1

Using apps like Photoshop or Dreamweaver or most IDE's for that matter that have toolbars to the side is vastly better on a widescreen, because you still get a decent amount of horizontal space for your edit pane.

  13. Re:13.3" at 1280x800 ??? on Apple Unveils New Macbook · · Score: 1

My 14.1" laptop has a 1280x768 resolution, and I wish it were 1440x900. 1280x800 would be just about right on a 13.3".

  14. Re:But how can anyone learn to use mainframes? on Mainframe Programming to Make a Comeback? · · Score: 1

I graduated last year from Western Iowa Tech in Sioux City Iowa. The focus of the program was mainframe programming.

  15. Re:Obl. humor troll on Scientists Probe the Use of the Tongue · · Score: 0

    I tagged it cunnilingus.

  16. Re:into Enterprise... on Linux Servers Break out of HPC into Enterprise · · Score: 1

Only if the Enterprise runs IBM servers.

  17. Watts? on Fuel Cells for Laptops Due Next Week · · Score: 1

45 watts is a rather useless metric for duration. It's like saying my car gets 25 miles to the gallon without giving any tank capacity, and expecting you to compute its range from that. Watt-hours, or more properly, joules produced from a full fuel cell would be much more useful.

  18. Interstate '76 on Review - Full Auto · · Score: 1

This concept has been done before - and better - in Interstate '76. Fun game, great story, and groovy funk soundtrack. Very unfortunate that the sequel, Interstate '82, sucked.

  19. Re:Raised eyebrows on Possible Breakthrough for AIDS Cure · · Score: 1

You just blinded my mind's eye...

That's just a defense mechanism. The mental damage that would be caused had your mind's eye not gone blind would be devastating.

  20. exposives... on Tagging Devices To Aid In Car Chases · · Score: 1

Replace the electronics onboard with some C4. Much more fun.

  21. Fair Use on Newspaper Lobbyists Take Aim at Google News · · Score: 5, Insightful

I'd call it fair use, advertising for the news sources even, but of course I'm probably biased because Google News is just so damn convienent.

  22. Re:As a North Dakotan on Is Ethanol the Answer to the Energy Dilemma? · · Score: 1

Of course, I wouldn't expect a 1993 Mercury Topaz to last much longer anyway...

  23. GRUB on Red Hat, Linux and Intel iMacs · · Score: 1

Port grub to EFI and you're all set.

  24. Solution on The Backhoe, The Internet's Natural Enemy · · Score: 3, Interesting

A possible solution would be to embed RFID tags every 3 feet or so inside the conduit, allowing for easier location. Code embedded in tag would give owner, pipe or line type, and depth.

  25. Mod the stories on On the Matter of Slashdot Story Selection · · Score: 1

Allow users to use mod points to moderate the stories. Keep a seperate karma system for submissions. Submitters with low/bad submission karma don't start off with a vanity link. The link would also get removed if the story gets modded down sufficiently. This would reward users for good submissions yet still allow these 'problem users' to post stories to Slashdot without their personal link whoring becoming an issue.
