well it could happen:-P
people should look into things in more depth before making accusations. It certainly isn't fair to deem all religions the same.

There are people handing religious fliers to everyone like spam...but that doesn't mean other people who are believers should suffer for thier actions.
maybe schools should try it...they find a talented college kid getting locked up in prison his whole life anyway from the RIAA and make him pirate a few hundred million copies of windows for schools.

on/. there have been many OS reviews here's a big generalization of them
microsoft longhorn: bad (buggy etc.)
apple tiger: good
linux: good
but at the end of the day if a person had read all these reviews...do you really think they would buy microsoft windows instead of apple or linux. I believe most would simply because "everyone" will use windows. it really is sad who will prevail despite so many good reviews.
these "new gloabal mapping overlords" are being funded and run by the old european overlords (governments) and yes they got the money out of europeans' pockets
santa's sleigh: speed: about 2 miles per hour faster than warp drive reindeer:12 engine: reindeer powered headlights: nose powered notes: works exceptionally well in snow as well as air

I thought alfred nobel started this prize thingy because he figured out how to control nitroglycerine...great intially for blasting rocks for construction, but later was used for warfare and alfred nobel didn't want to be remembered for that.
I would like to request NSF and SPC so we can hear some video game music
by the way I knew ogg vorbis was open source but I don't think MP3, AIFF, AVI or WMA are open source...so why is the podcasting stuff open source is it like viacom can steal it and air it all it wants or something
to save time we should do exactly what we ask spammers to do...label thier emails spam
the "problem" email should include a special marking like "THISISAPROBLEMEMAILATWORK:" before anything else in the subject...The method has effectively eliminated the time wasted on the outgoing email without problem;^)
anyway maybe they need to make more games that are mostly "macho type shoot em ups" where your mission was to kill, shot and destroy everything and everybody. - under 1980

especially with microsoft entering the market and try to outspend everyone... I think nintendo is worried if it followed microsoft's strategy it might end up like Sega
Nintendo just never got the nerve to sell to the graphics obsessed gamer. It's really a shame because I think they would be so much bigger if they did.
I just think great graphics and gameplay that isn't awful, but does not have to be great will normally sell games to MANY MANY people that and some good marketing.
what exactly is a mp3 player?
say I have a laptop and it can play mp3, but it has 20 gb of harddrive space...and then I upgrade and add a 100gb harddrive would they tax me.
and maybe I could have a laptop without an mp3 player installed.
Will the netherlands end up taxing all computers or just those capable of playing mp3?
By the way this is all the more reason to use ogg vorbis!!!
personally a $500 mac is a few hundred dollars to expensive to buy and so I'm just too cheap to even consider a mac. though i think emacs take too long to boot (remember I care for the lowend) but do have some good UI.
Microsoft might be able to cut a deal here with the chinese government: maybe the black box, microsoft is planning, can be beefed up and not as optional for china...and then they might actually charge some people in china for windows, you just in case the chinese officials don't like someone.
An ignorant person goes into a store hoping to buy a pc for simple web browsing and word processing
He buys the most expensive pc and gets ripped off by being told he needs the uber-expensive $10k PC top-of-the-line for his simple web browsing and word processing needs.
He signs up for AOL because the saleman suckered him into the long contract
He gets home and a friend come over and says "wow, I think this is overkill for web-browsing and word processing"
He then starts to update his computer with the latest software from microsoft that's still very buggy and he thinks "wow this new flashy 64-bit windows OS is great but my PC is so slow"
His friend comes over and says "Oh that's just because windows saves money on hiring beta-testers...by using real users"
He then starts to update his computer with the latest software from AOL and he thinks "wow this new flashy web browser and audio player and IM stuff is so great but my PC is so slow"
His friend comes over and says "Oh that's because AOL doesn't optimize thier software to run fast or anything"
maybe I'm just playing off the sterotype that some AOL users don't know anything about PCs and are taken advantage of
they could field a new beta of winamp...with tons of stability and make it not suck up resources like crazy and you could rehire all the people from before and...oh wait it's like the old winamp before it went flashy
anyway tabbed IM would definitely be welcomed...but can it post on/.?

theory: fanboys sell consoles no matter how brainless they are
yeah I know what you mean...it seems rather convenient PR move 4 days before the infomercial.
