I used to work on a visual (CGI) system for flight simulators in the 80s that used these in the raster line assembler cards. These system were day/night system that weren't quite as good as the 3d graphic cards of today but they were the best in their time.
I am still working on 2.4 to 2.6 kernel issues. Linux and it's authors have no concept of backwards compatiblity. We have to redo everything and our purchased software suffers even more.
They have no food, no safe drinking water, no clean clothes, no medicine when they are sick, but they have the laptop computer which they cannot use for anything of value!
Keep up the good work. You too can have a project doomed to failure.
The real virus righters haven't started their work or release their wares yet. Who would be harmed it they did it before now? That would be self defeating. The real damage seeker will wait until the OS is mainstream and millions of copies were in use and in critical systems use. Then they would unleash their nasty viruses, worms and malware becuase then, it will do the most harm. To them M$ (and it's users) are the enemy. They won't show their hand until it really can become a serious problem.
We will know how broken Vista is when Vista is mainstream and not before.
Look guys (and gals), I work in a mostly Linux shop. It is the only solution for our server farms. The cost of mainenance is high for two reasons: 1. We have to hire both linux and windows IT people. Linux is next to worthless on our desktops and 2. Every time a new version or upgrad comes out (new hardware isn't supported by older versions) too many things become broken requiring troublshooting and fixing the software (a lot of software including purchased licenses). This is aggravating to say the least.
As for commercial applications, Windows is far cheaper to maintain and support and, for a non-profit, considerably cheaper.
The bottom line here is that we humans are in an inventive slump. The uprocessor has nothing new invented in the line of software and the gadget business is in a real slump. Even if the Zune came out, there is nothing really 'new' about it. the PS3 is just a gadget to make the existing lot of games look better. There is nothing new in games, computers (maybe the UMPC, but it isn't going over too big becuase the price is too high) of software.
Everything that can be invented with the current state of technology has been invented. We need a totally new concept in technology itself.
I work in the technology sector. I know what it can do and can't do. I do trust it for a lot of day to day things that I need to do and enjoy doing. It is interesting and fun. Having said that, I don't trust any technology with my votes that is not both totally secure and verifiable. The elctonic voting systems that are in use are neither. Give me the old fashioned paper balot any day.
Wrong on both accounts.
1. Game writers aren't going to be using much of the new features of DX10 becuase of the size of user base that will not go to Vista.
2. I won't buy any manufactured PC with Vista on it. Either give me XP or I will go to someone who will and there will be enough around for quite a while.
Now I still ask the question: Can anyone tell me one good reason why I would even want to consider vista?
I would rather have that single group (btw, they are the ones that created and expanded the internet in the first place) control it than have a committe of blithering idiots that have no clue what freedom really is or how to administer it.
I hear the voice of God everyday when I read His Word.
This is true. Each country can do what they want with thier piece of the infastructure. If you don't have it working, don't whine to us. Besides, there is nothing that the UN can do any better than we do already. They have no authority to enforce anything. All they can do is point fingers tell you your bad. They need to go back to food and medicine and stay out of enforcement. They keep trying but no authority.
If you want your culture destroyed, let the U.N. and French run it!
Ditto. What does HD have to offer that is worth the price? While I don't go to theaters much, I do when I want to see the great HD content. That would be about twice a year. Gee, $600 VS $50. No contest here. Every other movie I watch looks great on my Wega with a standard DVD.
Better times? Less compatibility, more bloat, the virus they call DRM. How is that better? And at a higher price of $$ and time whos is this better? M$ is the standing king of "Nothing New Invented Here". Stay away, if you know what's good for you. Use XP with Symantec AV and Adaware it works just fine and runs EVERYTHING for windows!
Shall we discuss the total amount given to other countries. U.S. is at the top. One other point: Why is it that the U.S. has a problem with too many trying to immigrate? If you live here, you have a better chance of success. If you live elsewhere you have less. The only people who complain are those who have less and don't want to work hard enough to have more or aren't smart enough to know how to work hard. Sorry, but that is the whole truth.
I just bought an SUV with an 8 cylinder, high peformance engine. I am so into alternateve energy sources. I feel real energized!
Global warming is the creation of the anti-capitalists. They just have sour grapes.
The FCC has no business here. This is the Internet not US airwaves. They need to all go home and bake some.

The images on GoogleEarth are grossly out of date. 3 years is a lot of topographic change.
Why would I ever want to run Vista at all? There is nothing new invented here!
Unlike the unstable Win98 and it's variants, XP will outlive Vista because it is so bloated and broken.

Linux zeolots have no concept of reality.

Abuse of technology make technology look bad.
Yes, there are good people here. That is why we voted to continue the war on terror and screw those who oppose said war!

From the "total waste of time" department.

It's a good thing that I do not own an xbox.

Here is another example of government funded "research" that is self justifying just to maintain the government funding.
The expression FUD comes to mind.

This is so hoacky that I am not ever going to use something like this. This sucks rusty wellwater.

Your signature line is false. it should read:
Fascism starts when the activity of the government becomes more important than the rights of the people.
Now you did it! You gave it away. They are just to dumb to figure it out for themselves but, you told them now.
