By having those logs they know I am watching and it holds them accountable.

Oh, by the way, they can see my logs as well as my wife so, we can hold each other accountable. Anything less would be totally stupid.

This is real simple issue. You monitor everything they do on the computer. I have been using CyberSitter for a couple of years and every web page, URL, IM, and email goes into the logs that are in my email box everyday. It shows when on and off and I check the login/logout times against the system logs (perl works great to do this automatically). They do not have admin rights (except when I give them certain games to play and then I am in the same room).

The rules are simple: BE A PARENT!

  14. Re:Just forget it on Vista Shell Team now Blogging · · Score: 1

The main problem with Vista is that "there is nothing new invented here". All of the applications in use today cannot be improved by going to 64 bit (accept a small set of engineering & scientific apps). Nobody can name a single benifit of Vista for Internet usage, playing music or watching movies.

We have had 64 bit WinXP for quite a while and there is a void of anything special to run under it, except for a couple of games.

The only people who NEED Vista is M$ to charge more for the end product and increase profits (or just keep them going). It provides no benefit to the consumer at all.

When M$ can invent something new and productive, then it will be good.

This "Apple vs the rest of us" mentality is the kind of snobbery that keeps Apple's share of the industry down (the price helps too).
