This looks like another one of those companies that announces they "will" have a part that does "something" nobody else does and that it "will" be available someday. When a two year old start up company makes an announcement like this, it usually means they are just looking for some fast capitalization to rip someone off. There recently was another start up that was going after Intel's business.
This is an insult to everyone who has honestly earned this award in the past (excluding Algore). This make the award worth less than the toilet paper I used this morning. I wouldn't even hire anyone with this award now.
If they didn't grossly overcharge for the product, most people would have no complaints. When you charge $200 for an OS when $50 or $60 is the amount people are happy to pay, you don't have complaints about pricing.
If you prove to the world that you are an idiot and want to eliminate other countries, you don't get nukes. Iran has proven this. Israel just wants to exist as it is and has proven this. A portion of the Muslim world is just too radical!
The repository cannot be the only source of software. In Windows, you know to run setup (the word makes sense) to install. The "user" needed to be reached to make Linux a viable desktop OS are those who do not know what iptables and init.d is. My wife could not install and run the software she wanted to in Linux. She can on Windows and Mac and she has only used a Mac a few times.
"and not subject to getting pwned all the time" This is primarily due to the fact that the pwners aren't targeting such a small number of computers that are not in the hands of the average computer user. if linux was in 40% of the desktop market it would be just as much a target as Windows.
A users are a large pool of people who aren't geeks, nerds, or slashdot readers. Your grandmother is a user, My wife is a user and she cannot install and run the software she wants in Linux because it is too difficult to install and tweak Wine and the software she wants isn't written for Linux. A real desktop OS has to be usable by a large base of users.
I have a netbook that runs Windows 7 just fine. I have a supply of applications that Moblin will not see in years (if at all). Yea, I have to pay for it eventually but I still have the huge base of applications that also run on my desktop. Just a waste of time, this moblin thing.
Then read the odometer. It is already a crime to tamper with it. I don't want the government tracking my position. They have no business doing this. This idea is totally stupid on principle. Just add more cost to the vehicle too.
I believe that the typical iphone customer is a "look at me, I have a cool iphone" idiot. They like to keep up with the Jones' because it is the "cool" thing to do. Most (if not nearly all" have no clue what it can really do. The exception is those that have extra money laying around and the time to jailbreak them.
How about the freedom to simply get stuff done rather than spending 5 hours unsuccessfully trying to get your sound card to work?
Exactly the point. Each of the three OSs described here are for three distinct audiences. They cannot be compared with any reasonable conclusion that would be useful to anyone.
Windows 7 is for the masses.
Snow Leopard is for a limited set of elitists and the technically challenged with lots of money
Linux is for geeks and people with a lot of time on their hands.
I work in the computer industry and do not trust any electronic voting system. The more complex a system (any physical system) the more susceptible it is to attack. Give me good old paper ballots any day.
And we never will. There is one element that we are not given the power of, and that is to breath life into it. Only God (start the flame wars here) can do that.
Keep on trying though, there are other things that you will invent as the result.
This all doesn't matter. He paid for the book on his Kindle2. He was using that for his school work. Amazon deleted it. Amazon is totally wrong and needs to go to court.
Buy a Lenovo or Samsung 12" netbook witht the NANO processor. Full 64 bit (cheaper than Atom in the Lenovo), faster than the atom and the graphics processor kicks The GMA's butt. Running 64 bit Win7 with no problems.
More so than say, government. The government has done more to effect the cultural shift (most often toward destruction) than any one retailer ever could.

Then there was Transmeta Corporation.
The government has no authority from the constitution to do this. When will the U.S.A. wake up and understand this?

This sounds like Warner needs to be sued. Big money lawsuit!

Only government would be this stupid!
No, it is not fixable. Atom sucks at video playback and costs too much.

"Many people from older generations that have not had the time to learn how to use the computer aside from e-mail and online news have no clue."
Then why are these idiots letting their kids use their computer?.........No wait.......

The 12.1" netbook from Lenovo with the Nano processor blows the socks off of the Atom and it's cruddy graphics.
This all doesn't matter. He paid for the book on his Kindle2. He was using that for his school work. Amazon deleted it. Amazon is totally wrong and needs to go to court.
This is why I won't buy a Kindle2.

Google to search, yahoo for mail. This has always worked for me.
