1. Flash is a performance hog on platforms that aren't win32. 2. With H264 it will be easier to download youtube content for safekeeping. 3. H264 has hardware acceleration in a lot of portable devices.
I think the register is a great read. Yes some of its articles can be a bit vitriolic at times, or maybe even hastily written, but the opinion columnists are always enjoyable and many of their articles are far more in depth and what you expect when you think "tabloid" or "red top".
Yeah I've got iTunes running about the same. It could have double or treble that amount to be honest and I wouldn't mind. I've got 4 GB of RAM if one of my apps wants to use it to bring me more features that's fine by me.
Sounds like they need to sort themselves out. I get TV about 3 hours after it has finished broadcasting. By using an RSS feed the shows download automatically. Check out the pricing at http://blocknews.net/ if you are interested in paying per GB (it goes as low as $0.09 per GB) if you want pay per month unlimited then http://supernews.com/ is cheapest at $9.99 per month. Both have around 400+ days retention.
It's under my username on every slashdot post I make. You just have to work out how to unobscure it from how slashdot shows it to prevent it being taken by bots.
Lets you have a bunch of audio and subtitle tracks in a single file, meaning your DVD or Blu Ray rips can have subtitling or audio commentaries embedded right in the file.
My reasons for wanting to do so are:
1. Flash is a performance hog on platforms that aren't win32.
2. With H264 it will be easier to download youtube content for safekeeping.
3. H264 has hardware acceleration in a lot of portable devices.
You don't need to be a writer to criticise a writer.
That's just what Taco wants you to think. I've said too much already...
Let's just say you meta-moderate enough you get to moderate right?

Welcome to slashdot.

I'm pretty sure he was being sarcastic with the exception of the last paragraph, which you clearly didn't take the time to read up to.
OSX has all the usual programming language suspects built in, and as for a synaptic clone, try fink or mac ports.

Well they wanted to have feature parity with iTunes.

You should have gone with usenet.
Actually having a single menu bar at the top of the screen is objectively better thanks to Fitt's Law.
Tip-ex of course!

That is utterly false and the rest of your post is frankly offensive.
On Mac at least it's hardly geeky at all. I showed my Dad how to use it and he rips things just fine using the pre-sets.
Tell that to the nethack devteam.
Tribes had vehicles in 1998
Most blu ray rips on usenet have the subtitles in the file, toggle on or off in the player. It's one of the benefits brought on by MKV.
It's a really cool feature, but a little hard to learn to use. Fantastic once you work it though. :)
How do you buy a charity?
