    Well AC, this comment chain was about third party sites hosting modified ISOs claiming them to be legit. Not sites being totally hijacked.

    Well, when downloading Linux or other FOSS stuff you can check the md5 against the "official" md5 on the project site.

    Microsoft were forced to stop producing their virtual machine and now Sun's implementation of the JVM is the most prominent one.

    Anti-trust laws exist to protect the market as a whole, in the 90s and early 00s the laws were used to prevent microsoft from using its dominance in one market (Operating Systems) to unfairly crush other businesses with monopolistic business practices. For example Sun's JVM versus Microsoft's JVM, which was a broken implementation designed solely to disrupt Sun and leveraged through Microsoft Windows autoupdate, something Sun could simply not compete with.

    In the last three generations of consoles (a period of around 13 years) there have only been 3 mario platformers. (64, sunshine, galaxy). And you think galaxy isn't a big step up from 64, then I don't know what to say.

    The problem is the word "console".

    The majority of non-Japanese innovation comes from PC games.

    Now that I think about it, outside of Nintendo, the Japanese games industry doesn't really innovate at all. Dragon Quest 17 anyone?

    The main problem is that the App Store is the only source of iPhone apps, whereas I might buy a Belkin router from a different store, be browsing amazon and decide to post a review of it.

    It's articles that really do pc gaming a disservice. All you need to get pc gaming at reasonable resolutions is a decent mid range card like a 9600 or 9800. I have an 8800 GTS 512 and even on the absolute newest games I still achieve great framerates on good looking settings.
