FCC part 15 rules appeared in the late 70's because of the emergence of digital devices spewing TV interference. Note that it has always been and still is the equipment operator's responsibility not to cause interference. The manufacturer just has to test that it meets limits and label the equipment.
I think there's nothing wrong with getting tough on illegally using IP as long as it is extended to include my personal information. I should be able to sue Exxon-Mobil when they "file share" my data with Chase Manhattan or Citigroup. My life is my performance art and all description of it is my copyright. Let's ask the AG what he plans to do about TJX illegally sharing the data of thousands of their customers on the internet.
To reduce the problems caused by the volume of daily patches, they could save them until a particular time and refer to that as "patch minute". I propose that they make this 5:35 pm in each local timezone to catch the IT staff who are trying to sneak out and have a home life.
Except they didn't put it in an announcement to the website visitors, they announced to their stockholders that they planned to make more money.
Anyway, I think everyone visiting the NYT site from now on should do a search for "elephant porn" and we'll see how that affects their advertising budget.
Also, teaching requires a lot more than just knowing the subject. Why do people assume that someone who hasn't taught before can just jump in and start doing it? Especially K-12 requires a lot more than just knowing the subject. Try teaching one CC course on beginning programming or something; at least the students want to be there.
I knew a guy who quit designing ASICs and went into construction full time - kitchen and bathroom remodeling, decks. He's never short of work now and he's happy.
So its another law that makes government a noble class above citizens. Like murdering a postman is a worse crime than murdering a shopkeeper. Congress was not outraged at Gonzales and the Justice Department before they raided a congressman's office, now suddenly he's breaking the law.
I once used an async computer, the PDP-16. If you disconnected a control wire, it would run until it got to that operation. The voltage on the wire would go high (or low, I forget). Since the control circuit was broken, it wouldn't proceed past that point -- a literal breakpoint. Hooking the wire back up allowed control to continue.
Ask any smoker. People trade off risk to their future self for current pleasure all the time. The future self is "less real" then the current self, and people are much more willing to endanger that other person.
You won't be there "yourself" in any case. Are you the same person that existed 20 years ago with the same name? I know that I am very different. You might even think you are the same person, but that's just a trick of biology.
It was, like, last Christmas and we got this cool new wireless card? and we, like, couldn't get it to work on Vista? so I got my Ubuntu Dell out and, like, plugged it in and downloaded the new drivers and recompiled the kernel and switched from Gnome over to fwm because something was, like, wrong with the ARTS driver and then did "echo 1 >/proc/net/wifi/atheros/set-a/port-widgets/regset/ 5bg" and it just worked. I saved Christmas!! -- Ellen
If you have the IBM-compiled perl, you need the IBM compiler. If you only have gcc, you are better off recompiling perl if you want to add cpan modules.
That's pretty much what the Supremes decided. It's not subject to US patent law unless components of the infringing device are made in the US. They decided that making a master here and copying it abroad does not constitute infringement in the US.
The decision is also remarkable because Justice Alito compares Windows to a shrimp deveiner.
Note to editors: you can circle around or center on but you can't "center around".
Here is the secret IBM database. All the kernel calls, error messages, programming information, command line, as well as procedures for managing your system. AIX is better documented than Linux or Windows, as far as I can tell. Solaris used to have a pretty good doc set, but I haven't used it in a while.

hmmm ... Pong 3D
I guess you also didn't read the title of the bill. The bill calls it IP, I called for copyright protection in my post.
Trade secrets are not "between" anyone. Once revealed, they are not secret and no longer protectable. That's why they're called secrets.

What Churchill considered a conservative is very different from the current US neocon.
"Neither creator James Cameron or original star Arnold Schwarzenegger will be involved in the project"
I can predict the future on this one without time travel.

Natural selection doesn't favor traits that help you live much past child-bearing age. Once the cubs are on their own, you are useless to evolution.
I don't think you've thought this through. Children are your only path to immortality.
What good is long life unless all of the diseases of old age are cured? Prostate cancer, alzheimer's, osteoporosis - none of those are much fun.
Linux and Mac users don't.
"Integrated across the Microsoft platform..."
I don't think that means what you think it means.
I needed to get perl/tk installed on AIX once. I feel your pain.

My cat just died, damn you!
theft: taking what does not belong to you.
How hard is that?
