Dude- why the politics in your post? Karma whoring? Look, we have clicked through to your site: You are a very unnatractive man, and that is likely why you are mad at the world.
Calm down bud- all is not lost! You are unattractive, so what? Do you also have bad breath?
What do American Liberals and Foreign liberals have in common? They both hate America. Individually we are nice people, but collectively... Thats nice, thanks. If you don't like Americans, then stop using our inventions and innnovations as protest. Oh wait, then wouldn't you have to get off the internet, among other things? Americans are rude and unintelligent the European wrote, on his PC, and sent it over the internet, another American invention... Hmmmmmmmm..... I was in Europe (France, where the people are awesome, and it is an amazing country and culture) and they wanted to know what Americans think of the them. I think it pained them to find out that 99.99% of Americans don't care what you think of us.... The truth is, if something happened where America needed help, Frenchmen (all of Europe, and Australia, NZ etc.) would rush to our aid. The opposite is also true- Most Americans would sacrifice their life to save the lives of others in the world. (Like we did in WWII)
Hunters consider hunting by robot and mouse click 'a digrace to the sport,' whereas tracking and killing innocent animals on foot is just fine."
Why the mention of "innocent animals." This is a tech site, not some strange animal "rights" site...
Like it or not- What about saying states with different value systems? A lot of states have ammendments against anything that approximates marriage between two people of the same sex.
Any perhaps an unexpected consequence- How many evangelicals and other conservatives will switch to, if not othert operating systems, then to different non MS browsers etc?
Starting three years from now, if you live or work in the United States, you'll need a federally approved ID card to travel on an airplane, open a bank account, collect Social Security payments, or take advantage of nearly any government service
You need an ID card to do all these things anyway...
If they could promise that this would cut out the fraud, ie illegal aliens draining the hospitals and all the social security number theft going on, I could see the point...
Keep in mind that you will be able to get Drivers Licenses that are for driving only, but they will say such- You won't be able to fly with it or use it for other ID purposes...
If you don't like having to be a citizen/legally here to use federally insured banks, you can always use a credit union.
I think that this is one of those instances where we don't know what will come of this- I for one hate to read media synopsis of Bills- I wish that I had the time/comprehension abilities to read all these bills and see what is really in them.
Business Idea: If someone had a website that was unbiased and gave plain English summaries of every bill in the legislature- I think that would be really popular...
How many of us really know what bills are passing through congress and what is in those bills?
Surveys lately have been showing that people want their TVs left alone, whether from the FCC trying to censor cable TV or the FCC doing this latest thing. The vast majority of Americans don't know, understand, or care about most issues that affect the country- but tell them that they wont be able to see (.)(.) on cinemax, well, then they will start to yell. If you can de the same thing in this situation, id est (i.e.) let peoiple know that this FCC rule is going to take away their Tvs... well then you may have something.
When did checks and balances become Campaign checks and account balances?
Lets's be honest- The two sides, evolutionists and creationists are never going to agree...
What I would like to see- When i was in high school (10 years ago), we were taught that evolution has a lot of holes- not in the sense that it is wrong, but in the sense that we need to get interested and fired up about filling those holes! Do research, learn, maybe get out in the field and dig for the missing parts of the fossil record!
Ignoring science and man's origins dooms us- understanding better where we come from can only help us... Maybe we need a way to bring back function to a certain vestigial organ to double our lifespans... Who knows, thats why we research, experiment and learn.
If science were concrete and immalleable, studying it would be like studying history- science is dynamic and exciting, it is fun and sexy. It is cool, and it is hot. What we know about the world is constantly changing, new horizons are being opened, great thinkers are coming together into new realizations. Let us celebrate science.
Nobody goes out and digs for fossils or seeks the meaning of the universe for the money, they do it because they genuinely love it- we need to cultivate an interest in kids to learn about science and get into it.
The more we can inspire students to get excited about science and want to seek answers, the better off the country will be as a whole, in my opinion.
Maybe I have been watching too much History channel- But I wonder how this stuff would be for creating bunkers, at least the the outer shell- Any type of structure that needs to not crack-
As the parent said about Michigan roads- In Ohio we sure could use roads less succesptible to frost heave- And any time you can make concrete cheaper without lowering strength for roadways, gets an A+ from me- the main readon you see asphalt roads around here is due to cost savings. The Concrete Superhighway!!!
This seems to be similar to the programs Pharmacutical companies have, where they give drug patents they aren't using to non-profit research centers to develop drugs for the poor. Of course, the comparison ends when you consider that poor people likely don't have an overreaching need for facial identification software...
exactly what you said... Cool...however a lot of Admins would love 2 hours to work on a box- usually they have less time- especially when the other fires that need to be put out consist of a sales guy spilling pepsi onto his machine, or a sales guy driving over his notebook......
I will say however, that this is a contest, so of course it isnt going to approximate real conditions- What fun would it be to see a burgler try to break into an average house when no one is home... It is more interesting to set up unlikely, however still plausible deterants to make the contest more interesting.
I could live comfortably on about 25K a year... The problem is, my wife needs me to make 150K+ for her to live comfortably. I should have married an ugly woman with a nice presonality and a big heart, instead I married a pretty woman with big... Spending habits.

Almost on cue, after my original post, I went to fill out a form that I have to fill out for work... I was a Mac guy until 2001 (Now I go both ways, PC and Mac), but this is one of the reasons I use a PC more than a Mac: Directly from the top of the form I had to fill out: The (name removed for anonymity) application works best using Internet Explorer 6 or newer. Some content requires Acrobat Reader and the Flash 5 plugin. Mac users should contact (name removed for anonymity) for a hard copy of the application.
Would you drive a "name a make" car if you couldn't get it on a lot of roads?
What I haven't seen mentioned, is what kind of training/preparation will space tourists have to go through? Keep in mind being launched in a rocket isnt easy on the body... Will they have some kind of health screening for this?
Think about how great this tech will be when combined with facial recognition software- when you can put a pic in and find every pic of that person... I am sure that I am in the background of some of those pics people post on their own websites, and I think it would be a real hoot to traipse down memory lane...

Do you think Gates is upset that google can be used to search for "firefox"?
The truth is, changing out of windows would be like trying to change from gasoline to power cars- all the vehicles out there have internal combustion engines, and the infastructure to fuel them is in place- so even if we have a great alternative (biodiesel, cars that run on boogers... whatever), it would require a wholesale hardware change... The changeover period would be rough....
As much fun as it is to love to hate Microsoft, they are successful- sort of like when you make fun of some guy with a gold chain and a Firebird- sure he is an a--ho--, but he gets all the ladies....
You can laugh- or not admit it- but wouldn't a lot of us pay a significant amount of money for real time sattelite with military tyre resolution... I mean I love google maps, especially for free, but it would be cool to fire up the satellite, and check out teh parking lot to see if the boss's car is still there before you sneak out at 4:45... And we all know that zooming in on certain beaches would go without question... Think about a little window in the corner of your monitor watching your house to see if the milkman is staying too long with your wife.... Endless possibilities...
In the letter he says that the students illegally downloaded files- What are the odds of one of the students accused haiving no illegally downloaded files, and then sueing for slander or libel. You can't just call someone a criminal without a trial... Wouldn't that be great, someone sueing the RIAA Pres, and winning.... I am getting the warm and fuzzies just thinking about it...
Tell me if I am wrong- But didn't the RIAA get convicted of price fixing on CDs, and instead of all of us getting a dollar or two back for each CD we had purchased (yes I know the logistics would be nearly impossible), didn't the RIAA for the settlement give free CDs to libraries and schools, I remember reading that the CDs the RIAA gave the libraries and schools were all the junk that they couldn't get rid of. For example, an urban library recieveing 50 copies of the Wayne's World II soundtrack... And these are the people who want to define theft? Sort of like the people who donate 100 cans of beans that have been expired for a decade, to the food shelter, and then act like they are heroes...
I can tell you from experience, my favorite sites are the ones that have free shipping to you, and easy prepaid returns, equaling no risk. A lot of shoe stores do this- So you can order a couple sizes, try them both on, and the ones that don't fit or you dont like the way they look on you, you can just slap the rturn postage paid sticker on the box, put it on your front stoop, and it is on its way back. The key to retail is to have what no one else has, or have things cheaper than everyone else has, or have the best service. (or any combination of the above)
Okay, I am an anti socialite, and like to shop from home, so I think I am a qualified voice here.
Define impulsive- I buy things I didn't plan on, but usually in addition to what I have been researching, for example a carrying case for what I am buying...
I often abandon my shopping cart when I see exorbitant shipping charges. Other times I get put things in shopping cart just to "bookmark them" while I poke around. The important thing I think, is to have the shopping carts still full when you log back onto the site a week later. Then you can quick pull the buying trigger without refilling the cart.
You must make it easy to shop- I can't count the number of times I leave a site because it is hard to navigate. (I dont want a pretty flash site, I want a quick loading easy to use site...)
In order to succeed online, I thing you must have free shipping- stores can pay for the shipping with the savings from overheard of not having to have a retail outlet.
Can he stay at a hilton?
wait- are you refering to the post attacking GWB's pronounciation and Christians being dumb?
