Very, very, very few people will believe that raping a child is acceptable.

That may be true, but people's definition of rape very greatly. People's definition of a child vary greatly. Isn't a bar-mitzvahs at age 13? Isn't that the Jewish right of passage to adult hood? Biologically doesn't a girl become a woman when she has her first period? Legally isn't the age 18, but with exceptions by state? You can marry a 16 year old in Georgia with parental consent. Doesn't statutory rape take into consideration the age of the offender?

In a culture where the girls/women are married off at 13 does not view it as offensive; in this case you are acting like those offended by a cartoon. You have a very strict view of what constitutes a child and are applying it to all cases; where all cultures don't hold that strict view of what it means to be a child. Hell even two generations ago in the US women got married as young as 13.

Why does everyone pretend it doesn't happen, and further why do people pretend we don't enjoy it. As long as the ads are tasteful (and in googles case wouldn't they be text ads anyway?) So what is the big deal?

2obvious4u writes "Here on Slashdot we like to discuss copyright, MPAA, RIAA, torrents and all the little details that go along with false scarcity and what that means to the digital economy. Well what happens when that false scarcity starts happening to physical goods? I bring this up for discussion because I've spent the last couple of days looking at getting a MakerBot CNC 3D printer and while looking at it I found the RepRap 3D printer which is almost fully self replicating. You can then go to thingverse and download real world, usable, physical objects including the RepRap 3D printer. So now just like with music and movies we can share physical objects with each other and all we need to print it is the digital design and enough plastic or other materials to create the object. If you haven't seen this tech and how much it has grown in the last two years, you are really missing out. These things even decorate cupcakes!"

Basically we are at the point where we can take a raw material input stream and print whatever objects we want. The next step would be to be able to make things out of exotic materials.

When someone is offended it is because they choose to be offended. If the offended party chose not to be offended then there would be no issue. When teaching my children about swearing I have tried my best to teach them that the words are not bad/evil, but that the intent behind the words is. I don't care if they say fuck, shit, damn, any of that as long as they realize the intent behind it. I've also had to teach them about the appropriate use. Mixed company for example or at school were it is against the rules. In those cases the use of those words is inappropriate because the party that chooses to be offended by such language has the authority to enact punishment.

From the TFA - This is what I was looking for yesterday when I checked the wikipage:

Malapropism means to use a word in place of another word that makes the same sound, but doesn’t deliver an appropriate meaning, for example, odorous for odious, comprehended for apprehended and auspicious for suspicious and benefactors for malefactors. All these are Malapropos of each other. Now the second word portmanteau means to merge two words with each other in such a way that the sounds of the two words become merged as well as their meanings. In this case malamanteau is a portmanteau of portmanteau and Malapropism, whereas malamanteau is also a Malapropos of portmanteau. The meaning of the new word is still to be created properly.

It hasn't been "We the people" since about 1865. The imperial federal government decided that states could no longer rule themselves and took over. Since then the imperial federal government has been at war with "We the people". They started taking our money in 1913 with the addition of the 16th amendment. Then they tried to subdue us by removing our booze in 1920 with the 18th amendment. This failed but then they succeeded later in 1972 when Richard Nixon started the war on the people. Then in 2001, Bush gave us the Patriot act. Finally in 2010 they completed the assault on "We the people" by making it so that if you were to rebel or even think about it and propagandize about it they would revoke your American citizenship and strip you of all civil liberties including your Miranda right and label you a combatant and keep you imprisoned indefinitely. That being the "terrorist expatriation act".

So no, the government hasn't been "us" for a long time. That and the fact that all the Supreme Court Justices are from NYC and attended either Harvard or Yale should tell you something about the ruling elite in this country.

So I'm going to get back to work so I can pay my taxes which pay for two foreign wars I don't believe in, an auto company I think should have gone under, the mortgages of half the people in this country and the police force that makes it so I can't even smoke a joint on the weekends without fear of being put in jail. Oh and if I miss report my taxes they'll also put me in jail. Oh and if during my commute I get into the music on the radio and don't watch my speed I'll end up in court as well. Luckily when I get home I can watch TV and play video games; well censored TV with no expletives because my government doesn't think its appropriate. Oh and nothing with skin, because the human body is so offensive. Oh and no salt or sugar either.
