Don't get me wrong -- I want to try emusic (but I can't figure out how to see what is available prior to signing up) but face it, there are many people out there who will find that emusic doesn't have the kind of music (namely, the artists they like) they want to hear.
Until emusic fixes this, they will not go fully mainstream.
> emusic cant 'fix' this unless they get in bed with the corrupt labels & become equally corrupt themseleves.
"Attempted" crimes PERIOD are bullshit. Attempted murder, attempted burglary, etc, etc. Don't charge 'em unless they actuall get in and the person's dead or the stuff's stolen.
So you welcome a burglary or robbery attempt against you and would not want the criminal to get arrested and charged for trying to steal from you? Perhaps you would you prefer to be the victim of an attempted rape or attempted murder instead.
I am glad that works for you, but I'll stick with defending my person and property.
That said, I have to agree with you that the parent post was a moronic troll. Identically dressed people behaving politely in a store is not a threat of any type.
Who is Alan Ralsky? The Spam King is, was, and forever shall be Sanford Wallace. With the Duke of Crass being Scott Richter and the Earl of Insanity being Roddy ``Time Traveller'' Todino.
No, because if you are Democrat, you aren't going to vote for a Republican in order to vote against the blacklisted politician. And if you are a Republican, you are not going to vote for a Democrat. Either way you will make some excuse why it is OK to vote for the pro-DRM candidate ("Well, I gotta vote for Fienstien or otherwise the Republicans will win, and we can't let that!").
Could we just stop being pussies and vote Libertarian so we can end this subjugation and subterfuge once and for all?
I will say, that I've never been more disgusted with Dianne Feinstein right now. She's clearly putting the interests of her campaign funders above the interest of the public. I think she brings shame to the Democrats in an election year where the theme of the power of lobbying interests is a central strength for the party.
Dianne Feinstein has never cared about anyone's interests but her own and that of those that fund her. She has been walking all over the Second Amendment her entire career, why should her trampling of the First Amendment come as a surprise to anyone?
That's why you can [supposedly] connect a phone to a jack with no service and dial 911
"...what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard...Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it."
A phone jack with no service will have no dial tone or talk battery, and is incapable of dialing anything, even 911!

where machines are still running win98. USB keys don't exactly work too well on those machines, if they even have USB slots.;)
Live CDs (like Knoppix, etc) do a good job at reading your USB key even in the "developing world" and read-only media does wonders against software-based keyloggers.
People have died because they are stupid and lazy.
I grew up in a rural area. If you needed emergency services, you dialed the corresponding 7 digit number for the service you needed. No one blamed any deaths in the area on a lack of 911 then and to do so now just further reinforces how dumb the majority really is, although I doubt that was ever in question.
AT&T Trimline phones had programmable buttons for Police, Fire, and Medical emergencies. If you needed help you could just press the key with matching picture, and the number you programmed in would be speed-dialed. When we got one of those phones, we could laugh at all the people who had to press 3 buttons to summon emergency services.
If you have switched to VOIP, and can't be bothered to read the warnings, set up 911, or program the correct 7 or 10 digit number into a speed-dial key on your phone, then you probably should die to help get the dumb genes out of the pool.
But I should clarify... If you want to use SPEWS on your own network, then that's fine. I think it's a poor product, but I'm pleased it works for you. If you run servers as a service for other people or on behalf of a company and use SPEWS then you show a complete lack of understanding of the requirements of your users.
Unless you are providing email services for a bunch of neckbeards...
Just because SPEWS doesn't work for you, doesn't mean that it doesn't fit the needs of others. I have no problem with your dislike of SPEWS and I endorse your decision not to use it. I draw issue with your choice to attempt to berate those that find SPEWS meets their needs. You also cross the line when you begin putting your words in SPEWS mouth.
You make some fantastic claims about the responses of SPEWS administrators to challenges. You lie. SPEWS does not participate in Q & A. If you bothered to read the content on their website you would know this. You would also know that the list data is good for both stopping spam and punishing spam hosters.
SPEWS doesn't need accountability. No one is forced to use SPEWS data. The server admins that choose to use SPEWS data are accountable for their own networks. That is the extent of accountability needed to make things operate properly. Try to remember that email is not the only medium left for communication. If your email is refused, use a telephone, or send a letter in the mail.
If protecting your private property against abuse by criminals makes you a jumped up petty control freak, then sign me up.
SPEWS has a marked effect on the spam on my networks, and hasn't caused any problems worse than spam, but there are few problems worse than spam right now.
Seeing as how I pay for my connectivity and all of my network hardware out of my own pockets, I don't see it as your place to determine that I don't deserve my job as administrator of my own networks simply because SPEWS meets my blocking needs and not yours.
I refuse all SMTP from China and Korea, and it works for my needs. That policy would not work as well for my friends with family in Korea! There is no one-size-fits-all solution to spam short removing from the Internet all the spammers and anyone that buys from spammers.
Some of us work in functional caves, and only get to see the outside world a few times a day. My office, the server room, is like this. I'm in here pretty much all day. Sometimes the drive-home weather is a surprise..
Fair enough. Still I must ask why one would rely on a medium as unreliable as email, when a trip to http://www.weather.com/ would work even better?
The kidnapper is dead. It's a little late to be looking for clues!
Ancient pagans fought wars, took slaves and slaughtered civilians and in all that thought the gods were backing them.
That sounds more like the work of the Christians to me. Crusades anyone?
Come to think of it, I think Dubya seems to think that God is on his side. Too bad the muslims feel the same way!
Anyone who thinks that God is on their side is dangerous.
Bite me, spammer.

recording calls to businesses might be good practice.. is that legal?
The second you hear "This call may be recorded..." it is legal to record in the US, in all states.

You are both wrong; there is nothing to fix. Browse for yourself and see!
