Here are some statistics that vary violently from Boeing's. (These statistics are for fatal event rate not hull loss, perhaps hull loss is Boeing's strongest category)
That's actually an older phrase that became popular during the 70s and was applied to many situations. I first heard it in regards to a manufacturing plant when automation was becoming feasable. I found some info here
I've been leaving money in my paypal account lately. I get 4.5% money market on the balance, and when I use the paypal cc I get 1.5% cash back. It beats my credit union slightly, and I haven't had a problem in 5 years.
I worry a tad about the horror stories that abound, but haven't had a problem personally.
I don't see the ads, but it is still irritating to click next several times for little payoff.
I think it is more noticable to me than an adful user because I get an empty page with one line of text on it instead of a brightly-colored flashing distraction-fest.

You are in error. Rush was NEVER charged with any such thing. There was never even a hint of 'prescription fraud'.
Well, here is the summary from a fox news article (emphasis mine)
Rush Limbaugh must submit to random drug tests under an agreement filed Monday that will dismiss a prescription fraud charge against the conservative commentator after 18 months if he complies with the terms.
So, you're wrong about that.
Personally, I think the government has no business in our chemical intake. I'm against the investigation against Mr. Limbaugh. I think it's funny and ironic that he was caught in the same machine that he fought to justify, but I'm still against it.
I'd like for our government to respect everybody's privacy. I fight against government growing its power as I can. That doesn't stop me from laughing at someone who gets caught up in something I disapprove of when they have lobbied for it.
It's quite funny that my longest-lived PC was a packard bell pentium 166. Ran for 10 years until I ran out of excuses to keep such an old machine sucking juice.
All I had to do was replace the fan once, and replace the memory when it was new. (grr)
The service sucked, the machines were subpar in general, but this one was like the gremlin that hit a million miles.
It was prosecutors who accused him, not the press. I'm willing to admit the possibility of the prosecutors being biased, but I think the press would report such accusations against any celebrity.
There was some regrettable schadenfreude in the reporting since Limbaugh was such a vocal critic of drug offenders, but again I think that would have happened if it were any antidrug celebrity.
Anyway, the truth is that Limbaugh had a drug problem and he went to a lot of doctors and got a lot of pills. I've seen numerous sports figures get in trouble for the same thing, no political motivation necessary.
Interesting, thanks for the link. I read all the sections about library-building. It seems that library-building was taking place amongst existing betamax users, but was somewhat limited by the cost of cassettes.
I was concerned by your statement that You are not allowed, however, to create a library so you can watch something many times or so you can give recordings to your friends.
but couldn't find anything stating that in the ruling.
It was a strange shift in my thinking when I realized they were making good TV faster than I can watch it.
I can squeeze in about 5 hours a week, and between the Daily Show, Colbert Report, and occasional Adult Swim shows that is 5 hours a week. I also like some sci-fi shows, there are movies, old MST3Ks I've never seen, etc.
I don't want to bump up tv viewing time, so I'm going to have to accept to let things go. Or pile up, which is what is happening now.
I've run into problems that can't be fixed with ACLs, but usually some security policy or registry fiddling fixes things. I always get cranky when I have to mess with these, they hide things in so many places it is always a bitch.
I went to a private school for a year, and there was ZERO privacy. There were drug tests, they monitored our activities outside of school, and from speaking with students from other schools it was a widespread phenomenon.
Workplaces have been doing this as well, even going so far as to fire employees over their web presence, off-work activities, political and religious beliefs.
Private industry has no credibility in protecting our privacy. Why can't we fight against invasion of privacy and erosion of rights without getting sidetracked by a misguided privatization push?

You'll notice I don't have to say "check."

160x100 to get 16 colors?!? That's worse than a vic-20!

EGA, now that's just cool.

That's what you get for breathing fancy bottled air. Regular air not good enough for you? Too lazy to grow gills?
We're charged for usage of our connection, so it is done. It's not per byte, it's sort of a complicated capacity/average use/peak use aggregate.

The difference is that limbaugh was accused of prescription fraud, which is a felony and generally punished by serious jail time.
btw, it's "piqued my curiosity." ;p

The way I understand timeshifting, you can record your show and watch it 10,000 times.

Nobody loses.
Where did these stupid kids get this idea?
It even says so in your frickin' link.
I think it's all bullshit, but that's just an opinion.
It's actually an allegory of The Big Lebowski

Saruman: Karl Hungus

In the olden days you'd only get 24-36 shots per roll of film, and changing a memory card is way less work. Plus, you can do some in-camera deleting.
