Apart from 007 I believe. They recently launched the 1007 and all TV review have to call it the "One Thousand and 7" instead of "One Double-O 7". Something to do with "Double-0 7" and James Bond.
They provide scripts as part of the cvs checkout to download the source from cvs (and to update your download), build it and then run Safari with your just built version of WebKit without messing with the system version.
They had contributed back. The OOS people chose a particular license. Apple followed said license and did everything required by it. OSS people got upset as they wanted more. Apple have now gone way over and above what is required and provided this.
The problem with this would be that the XGrid agents would need to be cross-platform. As you can see on Apple's intro page (http://developer.apple.com/hardware/hpc/xgrid_int ro.html) the controller creates these agents. At the moment XCode (which I assume is used to create the agents, or atleast gcc + the SDKs that get installed with XCode) is not able to compile for x86. I don't see Apple changing this any time soon.
But we are short on plumbers in the UK too. It seems to be down to a long term decline in people training in the "trades" due to these skills being looked down on by the growing middle class. They would rather push their children to go to Uni to study for a worthless degree in Media Studies or the like than learn a skill that would actually provide them with a good income (have you seem how much plumbers charge?)
I hope you see this! Mine seems to be installed at/System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versio ns/1.5.0/Commands. I'm not sure what the official method for making this the default is. You could alter the symlink CurrentJDK in/System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versio ns
It says at Apple's Java FAQ the Java 1.5 requires a beta version of Tiger. As that Tiger version is only available to seed key holders it makes sense that the Java Preview is only available to seed key holders too. Once Tiger is officially available (tomorrow) the Preview Release may well be opened up to non-paying developers. Also note that this is Preview Release 7. It's not necessarily of beta quality yet. I imagine release 1 was very alpha!
So in summary: wait till Tiger is officially available to bitch about a lack of software on it!
So Spotlight, CoreImage and CoreData APIs are nothing? Whilst only SpotLight is immediately visible to an end user the underlying API changes will make it much easier to develop for.
No one is forcing you to upgrade. If you don't want it don't buy it. Just don't come whining when some cool new app requires Tiger.
There is a Java 5 (or 1.5 or whatever it's called) preview available to developers if they have the correct level of access. I believe it's only open to Select and Premier developers at the moment.
The new look is mostly the new combined title bar/toolbar look that is available to apps in Tiger. No doubt it is covered by the Tiger HIG, but as Apple are yet to publish the document we don't know yet.
If you ask iTMS support they can de-authorise all the computers from your Account.
I think the parent was probably referring to PithHelmet for add blocking.

I thought it was an intentional mistake!

Pretty cool really.

They are Apple PowerMac G5s not G4s.

The evil version cancels entering Dashboard as soon as you enter it (it opens a web page as well). So you can't close it in Dashboard.
This is more secure because you have to type in your Admin password to install any widget. So the auto-install download will not work.
Widgets in the main system library run just the same as the ones in your personal library. They do not run as root!
If anyone else let the evil version install to see what it did (like me) it's really easy to remove.
Step 1: Remove the folder zaptastic_evil.wdgt from ~/Library/Widgets.
Step 2: Using Activity Monitor to kill any running instance of it (yes Activity Monitor shows each widget as a separate process).
No reboot.

Anything you can do via a GUI can be done in a script using command line mail. Once apon a time people didn't even have GUI mail clients!
OmniGraffle is certainly not free. The Omni group offer a free trial, but it costs ~$80
Java 5 (or 1.5 or Tiger or whatever it's called) is also now available for OSX Tiger http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/java2se50re lease1.html
I hope all those complaining that this was not available before the OSX release are happy now!
It's available now that Tiger is available http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/java2se50re lease1.html
Happy?

And what if bash isn't installed?
