Explain to me how any real 'IT person' (as you put it) wouldn't have their own computer for their sole use?
I don't particularly like the Luna theme, which is why i always install a theme program and skin it as something else. My machine is powerful enough to make and marginal performance reduction invisible.
I like the start menu as well (though at first i hated it), however these days i never use it, due to www.launchy.net, an awesome program that replaces all your tedious docks, start menus and shortcuts.
ok, I've been playing this for a few minutes and heres some of what i've thought:
1) It possible to communicate with your parter, just type what you want to say to them, as a lable, then, if they check their past images to see what their partner labled stuff as, they'll see your response.
2) Google needs to inform players, if their partner navigates away from the page. I've had several times when the other person has completely disapeared, and nothing happens. You eventually just give up and go back to the start. Google should pop up a message saying "Your partner has closed, or navigated away from this page. Do you wish to start anew?"
3) A limited communication system would be really nice. Anyone played Windows Checkers online? You can't chat to each other, but you can send responces like "good move",:),:(, oops, ect ect. It would be awesome if they would include something like this, so you could put stuff like "I can't see anything" "picture too small" "look closer" "are you still there?" "do you want to pass?" "yes" "no" ":)" ":(" "hard" "easy"
ect. You get the idea.
4) The pass system really is broken, heres what i've been doing: I tried Firefox and Opera, Firefox had bugs and Opera didn't work for me at all. So far i've had the best luck using the site, with IE (eww). If you your partner wants to pass, wait about 5 or 10 seconds before clicking pass. If you click too soon, it seems to get crossed wires and then you get the hanging effect.
5) If you can get Firefox to work, get the image zoom plugin.
6) Checking what lables your partner used, gives you a better idea about what they look at, and what they focus on. This makes it slightly easier to get matches.
7) Try and list objects in the picture, text, people (be they man, women, group, couple, ect), machines (car, vehicle), buildings (type, color, part of building), environment (water, trees, outside, inside, night, daytime) ect.
it should be a lot more fun once they get all the bugs ironed out:)
What i was ranting about was the increasing amount of games (EA you bitches) and certain programs (PSP) that put application data and game saves in your documents folder - without even offering you a choice!
This really hackes me off - coupled with the fact i can't turn off Mircosoft's "My Music" or My Ebooks" or other such unused folders. (sure i can hide them, but by default i browse with hidden folders turned on.)
I HATE programs putting their crap in my document folder. Sadly more and more programs are doing this these days, and my documents is getting cluttered with more and more useless junk, which isn't my documents!
They should either keep all config settings in the install, or in/user/application data/program, or just make a folder called "my settings"
Narnia was a major let down, typical of what i call prettied up hollywood crap. Serenity was like molten gold. It makes me cry when stuff like stargate is on its 10th season (lets face it, it used to be good, now it's just boring) where as shows like Firefly only run 15 episodes.
thats baulsh. What about all the thousands and awesome authors out there. Instead of licencing their book and then letting some hack of a screenwriter at it and a random director to condence it to crap, lets let the author have full control and reign over the movie.
i bet we'd have some quality movies then...
If you got a couple hundred people to go down to your local Best Buy, they'd probably call the cops. Even if they didn't, the iron-fisted corporate policies of most retailers would probably preclude getting any kind of deal.
This is sort of what my mother is like.
I find the main problem is that she WONT read menus, she doesnt read error messages, and she doesnt explore what things can do. If anything deviates from what shes used to, or she forgets something, she gets stuck and has to call me.
You know, this is like the only Scrooge episode that i remember, in near perfect clarity.
;D
Strange how 2 others also remembered it
Fast user switchung? I never use it.

um, you seem to be overlooking that
1) Wii is launching with one of the biggest lineups, ever
2) almost every game that has previously been published for a nintendo game system, will be ableible cheaply, for the wii.

my mum was always threatening to turn off the power to the house, to stop me from spending time on the internet.
Thats one of the reasons i moved out
