Until the JScript and WSH vulnerabilities come along;-)
You can run WSH scripts from withing KiXtart scripts. I prefer KiXtart. It is so much easier to write, read, and understand. And just to keep us all happy, it's written by a Microsoft guy.
It wouldn't surprise me if it wasn't fixed because the fix broke some core functionality. It's not the only security hole discovered in HTML Help, either, as Matthew Ellisonpointed out back in 2002.
You forgot File Extension Hiding. One of the key weapons in the malware-writers' social engineering attacks. It's time File Extension Hiding was turned off. And time that MS released a patch to disable it for all time.
And what happens is that "open-source" crops, previously freely available to all to grow without royalties or patents become privatised, the property of the rich few, the new lords of the global manor.
Welcome to genetically-engineered serfdom, everybody.
No, it is not safe. Remember "we almost lost Detroit" and all the other near-catastrophes, including one that involved a nuclear plant that actually had a basketball covered in duct tape stuffed in a vent.
The one I "liked" Was the incident at Brown's Ferry involving a candle.
Before we get all excited about fusion, we need to consider a few things.
The first fusion plants are likely to be deuterium-tritium reactors, not pure hydrogen-hydrogen fusion. Note the neutron flying off in the bottom left of that diagram. You'll end up with highly irradiated reactors. The University of Wisconsin did some engineering studies of these issues in relation to the UWMAK tokamak design, and came up with some quite sobering conclusions, published in Science in 1975 or 1976. Hydrogen might be abundant, but the materials which need replacing in the reactor on a regular basis might be in much shorter supply.
if we were to scan email's for virii and a virus got through to a client, we would legally be responsible for the damages caused here in Australia
So, compromise, and scan and silently drop those you detect as viruses. Make no claims about ability to deliver ALL emails, and make no claims about virus-scanning.
In my past (failed) experiences of trying to report stories on Slashdot I've discovered that when those stories eventually get posted on Slashdot there is ALWAYS a link to some third party news site. Of course, my stories are hot, breaking news, before the news sites discover the stories:-)
Well, even though there's a version of Snort for Windows, it doesn't have a nice themeable GUI so the Microsoft techies haven't got a clue how to use it;-)
The annoying bit was the link you click to check the status of the MSN / Passport servers led to a site which claimed all was working normally. What's more, EVERY TIME MSN Messenger is down that site claims things are working normally. Maybe if Microsoft monitored its servers instead of just refreshing that screen they'd have discovered earlier that it wasn't working:-)

Nah, Winmodems were a passing fad. Real geeks use DSL or WiFi;-)
The method is so trivial and obvious, it shouldn't be patentable. In the *n*x world, people have been using the "file" command for years and doing things based on its output.

If they open worm-propagating password-protected .zip attachments from unknown sources they'll open anything.

232 alerts in 91 days...
And how often does your antivirus vendor update its patterns?
Therein lies the reason why antivirus software is so ineffective.
Thank god for ClamAV on our email gateway.
So far today, 28% (936 out of 3260) of our incoming emails have had viruses in them.
Scary!

You stinking commie! Our society's all about greed and profligacy, not need!
(Tongue firmly in cheek)

Nor can they go to Windows Update to ensure that their PC is fully patched
Interesting map and info at Radon Map.
Oh, look where the "Junk" button is! ;-)
Julian Field updated MailScanner on Thursday to disarm the latest "OBJECT DATA exploit" code. You'll want the "beta" 4.29.4 version (or later).

Anyone have info on that idea? (Malicious websites giving you the virus by visiting the site?)
Well, Nimda turned all the sites running IIS which it infected into such malicious web sites.
MUFON. Can't be bothered to Google for the zillions of other good UFO references.
Jodrell Bank already has a mini-solar system laid out in the arboretum.
Car parking costs 3, not 5. Blame the government underfunding of the universities for this.
The visitor facilities are under redevelopment at the moment, so it's not that impressive. No planetarium there anymore, alas.

Well, I tried to mail Slashdot editors from my hotmail account ;-)
You think "white van man" (it's the van that's white, not the man) could do this?
Now Novell's our friend, why not use MyRealBox instead of Hotmail?
Well, even though there's a version of Snort for Windows, it doesn't have a nice themeable GUI so the Microsoft techies haven't got a clue how to use it ;-)
Probably the SQL Slammer worm hitting all their SQL servers ;-)
