  1. Re:another OS on Experts Say To Switch Browsers In Light of IE Vulnerability · · Score: 1

jokes aside I haven't been THAT peeved with Vista. The interface is awkward, file transfers are dramatically slower than Ubuntu, and downloading a file over the internet invokes a 20 second freeze in Firefox.

So ... this sounds like one real world review by another satisfied customer? Not a very compelling argument to sway consumers to want this product.

Other than that, it seems more stable than XP, and is responsive enough on my recently upgraded desktop. *But* it has been relegated to a game console status though, at least for me.

Sounds more like a waste of money considering the cost of the hardware (CPU, screen, keyboard, etc..) and software (the OS and games) in comparison to just buying a dedicated games console.

Somehow I'm not feeling compelled to give Microsoft products another opportunity to infest my favorite hardware. This just sounds like another consumer contented to settle for a product designed around a marketing scheme and not usability, functionality, or the end user satisfaction. Me thinks your review would be good material for another Mac/PC commercial.

Partly False. They have a header on them so that standalone CD recorders, like the Pioneer PDR-609 [pioneerelectronics.com] can recognize them, those recorders will not record on regular DATA CD-Rs.

This is why we have Linux and CD/DVD recorders in our PCs. We have all the software necessary to rip any media to any format desired.

Evidently M$ still enables this useless feature by default and unwary users are still being duped by it. Microsoft should also be held responsible for damages caused by their products, or at the very least they really should inform their customers how to protect themselves when using their products.

My day job: I am a plumbing & heating contractor. Electrifying copper pipes is easy as long as you don't connect to the service until final. The problem is how to configure a ground for the perpetrator to stand on or touch while grabbing a hold of the loot thus completing the effect of zapping the crap out of the would be thief. This is not fatal but the thief would most likely shit his pants out of the surprise and leave in a hurry. If you board up the new construction and lock it, breaking in is B&E (felony in most places I know of).

In California, if you shoot someone in your house and you don't kill them, they can come back and sue you. So if someone is in your house and you approach them with your shotgun making your self known and your intensions, if they threaten you in any way, feel free to remove their head from the rest of them. This is self defense in every court in the land.

I have also heard of large commercial projects in Las Vegas that have had to chain link off the projects, and hire security guards to keep thieves out.

Myself, I left Sodom and Gomorrah several years ago and moved to Alaska. Citizens here have the right to carry concealed weapons, and most do! There is some crime here but not as bad as the lower 48. Can you imagine some loser attempting to knock off the neighborhood liquor store filled with thirsty patrons packing .44 magnums? Also there is an unwritten rule here, if you wander too close to someone else's property uninvited, you may get shot!

Recalling from my bible study years, a day for God can be 1000 years for man. For prophetic interpretation, typically a "day" means a year. ex: "time, times & half a time" becomes 1260 prophetic days or 1260 actual years. I forget the means this was interpreted but it made sense @ the time.

That being said, it's a mistake to assume that the earth is only 6000 years old according to the bible belt scholars. They attempt to interpret time passage literally. Too many unknowns for this to work. How long was Adam & Eve alive before they were made to be mortal? How long was the earth here before man was made to be man? How many other prototypes may have been involved on the earth and how long were they here. Clearly there were other creatures roaming the earth before the man experiment began.

Admittedly, I am still a believer in God, but I also believe in science. Who's to say which one is the correct story for sure, or a combination of both? I just can't wrap my head around a possibility of my ancestors swinging from trees by their tails and throwing their feces @ one another.

But then again after watching the political circus we just had, there was plenty of feces throwing going on, so maybe not all of us have yet evolved.
