I agree with you, however if Sony had asked for permission to use the inside of the church then the church would probably have said no. This way they get to keep it in the game I think (I didn't rtfa so don't know if anything changed in the game).

The correct response to this article is meh, who cares, really. Ubuntu are not going directly after enterprise support, are engaging the community, bringing in new users. And it's not like most other projects don't have silly numbering schemes, they just have marketese to hide the numbers. Ubuntu are not like other companies and the 'silly' naming scheme they have gets them mentioned more that most. But then I think that you should be able to use any computer that is in front of you regardless of the actual OS it is using. They are also trying to get mentioned a lot, grow brand recognition. Also IE7 being 7.0.5730.11, is oh so helpful to non-developers.

Use RAID 6, you can lose any 2 disks and still have all the data, means that data is secure whilst the array is rebuilding from a single failed drive. Alright you could lose 3 disks at once but that is much less likely than losing one or two, especially if the failure/rebuild occurs quickly.

  5. Re:How much? on How Much Does a New Internet Cost? · · Score: 1

I don't get this, in the UK (and most of Europe I believe) the major PSTN network (think ma bell) is required to sell ADSL, phone lines, and capacity at wholesale prices to whoever wants it. So as long as you can get a phone line you can choose from upwards of 100 companies to actually supply you with phone and internet service. That's not even counting the cable and wireless solutions which are also available.

But then this was in response to BT having a monopoly and not wanting to duplicate the entire infrastructure. Don't see why america can't have a similar system where different companies provide the infrastructure and another the service, would increase competition and make a cheaper better service for all. Well I suppose this would require legislation and regulation so would be bad in the american psyche.

DVI-I is a DVI-D and a VGA port in one connector, you just need a dongle which are not hard to come by. You can even get USB to PS/2 connectors. You're gonna have to change, because everything is going to change in the end and you'll just end up in twenty years saying PATA is the future.

This has probably been said on here already but microsoft have designed the scale to allow for FUTURE growth in performance, otherwise we'd end up having spinal tap logic (it goes to 11). I don't like Sony machines, they don't come with XP drivers, they still sell a $1450 ($3000) core solo machine with only 1GB RAM w/ Vista, which runs like an absolute dog. So yes they are small and cute but for anyone who wants to do actual work and not just look at the prettiness all day long think about something else, the new 2510p from HP is out in a month or two (if not already) and looks fantastic for half the price you get twice the speed and it's small and I think cute so clearly something to wait for.
