    Not really. I've written many, many programs for various Unix and Unix-like systems over the past 20 years and only rarely have I needed a debugger or memory profiler.

    Furthermore, understanding the "inner workings ...", while beneficial, only really matters when writing programs that interact with said "inner workings".

    In short, one doesn't need an IDE or SDK to develop quality software, just skill and experience -- though the former can be helpful when the latter are lacking.

    Actually, I agree with you completely. What I should have written, to be more clear, is that simple firing is not technically illegal, but against tradition. Obviously, firing in the midst of shenanigans or investigations of such is illegal. I should have taken more time to be clear... Thanks.

    I believe you misunderstand the situation. Almost universally, all federal prosecutors are asked to resign whenever the administration changes - Bush Jr., Clinton, Bush Sr., Regan, etc.. all replaced their prosecutors. Clinton staggered his over a short period of time after taking office to mitigate the transition effects.

    Additionally, prosecutors are (by tradition) almost never, barring exceptional circumstances, replaced mid-term and certainly never for political reasons -- which seems to be reasons of this administration.

    While not technically illegal, these actions by the current administration are distasteful and demonstrate Bush's continuing disrespect for the office of the President of the USA.

    I don't know, I've seen people use their Crackberrys one-handed. With the flat touchscreen and touch gestures (like sliding) shown on the iPhone commercials, I don't know if it will be as usable in one hand, especially without looking at the screen.

    Don't get me wrong, the iPhone looks really cool and I like the flexibility of touchscreens. I'm just saying that there could be a downside. There are already enough monkeys driving and fiddling with their current phones that have buttons they can feel...

    Anyone notice that the iPhone commercial shows the person using two hands, one to hold and one to operate. I wonder how usable all these slidy operations are and if the phone is usable when held in one hand and operated with the thumb -- like I see many people do with their current phones and music players?

    I don't know if I want a device that requires two hands to make it useful...
