    I've also been considering a quantum scheduler...

    Otherwise known as the Heisenberg Uncertainty Scheduler.

    The main problem with this is you can know which process is scheduled or which will be next, but not both. In fact, the act of scheduling would probably alter the scheduler itself.

    Like Cows (or, I think, hooved animals in general). See either this week's episode of Mythbusters, or this paper, Principles of Cow Comfort, Animal Handling, and Movement:

    Cows can see color; however they have dichromatic vision which means they see only a limited spectrum of colors. This makes a cow more sensitive to seeing sudden movement, but means they do not like situations with a high contrast of light and dark.

    This is a limitation of the CableCard itself. Version 1.0 is one-way (downstream) only. Version 2 (coming soon) is suppose to be bi-directional and allow VOD, PPV and Guide usage.

    The flaw was discovered by security researcher and Trusteer's CTO, Amit Klein.

    The TFA recommends using Trusteer's product to defeat this attack:

    Mutual authentication solutions, such as Trusteer's Rapport, which strongly authenticates the destination website and prevents access to unauthenticated websites, can defeat the attack.
    So, to recap. Vendor discovers a flaw and recommends their product.

    The goal is to reduce the weight ... to about 2 pounds per day.

    With a typical mission stated as 4 days, that's 8 lbs, but your point about making the electronics more efficient is good.
