"In NJ they can even go so far as to deliver papers to your OLD ADDRESS and have the court see that as being served "
While I have heard of that happening, there is no way it is actually seen, legally, as being served. If they send it to your old address, there is no assumption that it will reach you.
While you're mostly correct, there have been some shootings stopped by students. There was one stopped by two students who got their firearms out of their cars when they heard gunfire from the building they were near. The next thing they know is they have a guy running out of the building after shooting one of his law professors. They didn't shoot him, just held him at gunpoint until police arrived.
I can't ever remember the name of the school and it's hard to find since it wasn't widely reported, of course, because you can't ever have a gun being used for good in a story.
Just keep in mind that it isn't always the case. There are some very cheap, very good driving cars out there, especially used. I'm actually looking at 1999-2000 Corvettes right now because I discovered how cheap they are and I turned 29, which somehow dropped my insurance dramatically on such vehicles.
Weren't those monopolies recently outlawed? I know there was some question as to making them retroactive but I'm fairly certain any new contracts are not allowed. I'd say you need to find out when the contract expires.
Agreed. While I haven't installed Ubuntu on a wide variety of machines, I have installed the last three versions on a PIII 500MHz/512MB machine that was my server. The last release, 8.04, actually gave me a noticeable INCREASE in speed over 7.10. It was a simple distro upgrade so all the same functionality was there, it was just a bit quicker.
Actually, I take that back. I have installed it on a good variety of machines. My mom's Dell (Celeron 2.0GHz/256MB), my new server (Dell dual core Pentium/1GB), mother in law's Dell (Core 2 Duo/1GB), my Macbook Pro (2.4GHz C2D/4 GB). The last release, 8.04, has run quicker on all of them.
I'm not arguing with the math done or the resulting numbers. I simply stated that a "physical limit" in terms of numbers must be done at 100% efficiency. Otherwise, it isn't the physical possibility limit but the limit of current efficiency possibility.
If the Atkinson cycle is limited to 40%, it simply isn't the most efficient method of getting energy from combustion. I'm not talking about hitting 80% here. When I say 40% was surpassed, it was only a percent or two and under very controlled conditions.
Wrong. For something to be physically impossible you can't assume an efficiency at any point. You need to use all of the energy in the gasoline to make your calculations. Also, some engines have already broken the 40% barrier.
So you think that if the government takes away guns from law abiding citizens that you can go protest and get them back? Are you insane?
When guns are outlawed you no longer have any force to deal with. When they say you go to jail for protesting you go to jail and can do nothing about it. You're completely ignoring the fact that diplomacy doesn't always work and MUST be backed up by the ability to do something physical.
I don't understand how some people can be so oblivious to this fact.
I understand what you're trying to say, and I'm not going to deny that freedom of speech is important, but I believe that arms are more important. If it weren't for our free speech we wouldn't even be able to discuss the issue.
If they say you no longer have the right to free speech, you can convince them otherwise with arms. If they say you no longer have the right to arms, and take them away, you have no recourse but speech. If they then say you no longer have that right, they throw you in jail and you rot away.
Knowledge IS easier to pass along but it is useless without a goal and to reach certain goals you must have physical tools.
As I said in my first post, it comes down to force at the end of the day. Diplomacy has its place and should always be our first choice but it can't always get the job done.
Wrong. In the end, it comes to force. If you have no arms, they can outlaw what they want. Your freedom of speech is worthless without arms to back it up. The 2nd Amendment is America's 1st freedom.
That's a very weird combo of problems you have. Do you have some odd hardware in your system? I've run into problems with Compiz, but not in a while and not on a graphics card made in the last 3-4 years. If you're having problems with something as simple as the shutdown button something seriously wrong has happened, or been done, to your installation. I'm not pointing fingers but you may have borked something while trying to learn. We've all done it. I would seriously suggest backing up your important data and reinstalling. Starting fresh and knowing WHEN a symptom started is half the battle.
I was in the same boat as you about 5-6 years ago. Be glad that you have a distribution like Ubuntu and the community that comes with it. I started messing with Linux just before Redhat became Fedora, RPM hell and all.
If Ubuntu is crashing there's problem with your system in particular. My server at home is running 8.04, upgraded from 7.10, upgraded from 7.04. It has NEVER crashed.
Speaking of external monitor issues, let's not leave Vista our all by it's lonesome. My Macbook Pro consistently looses it's ability to keep my external monitor on. I have it running through a KVM switch but it wasn't a problem until after the 10.5.2 update. Before that it worked perfectly. Now, I have to reset it by turning off the machine and removing the battery and holding down the power button. It is quite annoying.
I'm not sure about any NEW RWD cars but my wife drives a 1999 Pontiac Trans Am and its spare is a donut. Luckily we haven't ever had to use it. I think most cars come with a full size, or near full size, spare these days.
Of course, anybody who has driven in Oklahoma knows this, if you go over about 40 on any turnpike in the state your car will be demolished by the forces of potholes. Oklahoma = Worst Roads Ever.
You should NEVER put the donut spare on the driven wheels of any car. It's meant for the non-driven wheels only, which the warning label on the spare wheel clearly states.
Actually, the spare donut goes ONLY on the rear tires, regardless of whether that is the driving wheel or not. A donut never goes on the FRONT which the manual for your car clearly states. Putting a donut on the front of a car dramatically raises the danger in driving. They aren't made to deal with steering forces or brake forces that the front tires have to handle.
I'm not specifically speaking of Comcast, because I've never used them and never will. I'm speaking of advertising in general of internet service.
An example is Qwest here in Phoenix. They falsely advertise that they have "the fastest available connection in the the Valley". The Valley being the Valley of the Sun. This is simply not true.
They offer a 20mbps down connection with 1 mbps up. Cox, my provider, has a 20 mbps down/2mbps up connection. This is the connection I have and it runs at or near full speed, sometimes significantly faster, all the time.
Qwest's ad also says the typical "up to" for this speed but they add a very specific guarantee. In the "fast speak" at the end of the ad they say that only 85% of the advertised bandwidth is guaranteed. To me, that means that my connection is guaranteed to be 17mbps/850kbps at all times.
Your point about bulk transfers is true only if you signed up under those conditions. I did not. Companies advertising one thing and delivering another, no matter what their TOS says, is deceptive and shouldn't be tolerated.
Do you fucking work for Comcast? That's exactly what they'll tell him. "Oh, off site backups are considered a business function. You'll have to upgrade to our business service to eliminate the interruptions."
It has nothing to do with what "function" off site backups are. It has to do with raw bandwidth and resource usage.
And forget whether its called 'home' or 'business' that's just marketing and branding. Think of home as 'small' and 'business' as medium and 'enterprise' as large if it makes you feel better. If you are moving 100's of GB per month then you aren't 'small' anymore, get over it.
So they should be able to slow my traffic down because I'm trying to actually use their advertised bandwidth? How is me wanting what I was sold unreasonable?
"She is innocent of the crime until a court of law has proved her guilty"....in a criminal case. This is civil. See OJ.

That would be true if they were pursuing criminal charges. These are civil cases where it really doesn't matter if you're innocent or not.
1. Numbers never lie.
2. You can get a slide rule very easily by shopping online.
http://www.consumeraffairs.com/news04/2007/10/fcc_cable.html That's all I could find quickly but it is the decision I was thinking of. It may only apply to apartments from what that article says.

I currently have 2 Seagate 1TB drives in a RAID1 in my Ubuntu server and they have been fine for the 3-4 months since I got them.
So you think that if the government takes away guns from law abiding citizens that you can go protest and get them back? Are you insane?

Without the arms in the first place you have no way to fight at all. Without the arms you are a subject. Only WITH arms are you a citizen.
