Doh! Right... what was I thinking (brain cells going already). That's going back a ways - so long that I completely forgot about the WindowShade roll-up. I do remember missing that when I jumped to OS X beta.
I wish there was a CMD-TAB-like function that would let you cycle through your minimized windows - might help make the minimize functionality more usable for anyone who packs their dock as full as I do.:)
Hmmm... I'm running a stock install of 10.5.1 and the title-bar double-click window-shade functionality works just fine... at least in Safari and Finder, so presumably most everywhere.
I hear ya, and frankly, I could actually care less about the karma here as I think my real-life karma will far outweigh my/. karma.
Maybe my point was more an observation that the rating system is perhaps futile, if not a waste of time. It gives/. an air of a closed, elitist old boys club, when really, it's just a bunch of geeks pissing away their cubicle time.;) Far be it from me to oppose that idea though - I got rid of my cubicle job long ago.:)
(yes, I'm grossly generalizing here and being the masochist that I am, still trying to be funny, for which I'm sure my fake karma will suffer)
Well, since none of the moderators know me, I can't imagine that's it unless they're all being brats, and since when did IQ have anything to do with social skills? Since my IQ is about 145, shouldn't even my stupid comments have wide appeal considering all of the geeks on here?:)
Yeah, just look at my account... I've tried to make a couple admittedly feeble attempts at humor with good intent (there is a funny mod option, is there not?), only to be modded down (soul crushing as it was). So I just don't post, even when I have something useful to offer.
I'm guessing I'll get hammered on this one also, and no, that's not bait, I'm just trying to point out this inherent flaw in community policing/rating/censorship?. Oh yeah, and free speech is good - see, that was totally on topic!;)
...As wives around the world rejoice with hope that the Turn-off-the-game-and-take-out-the-damn-trash-you- lazy-piece-of-shit-bot will finally be coming out soon.;)
This is not deliberately meant as flame-bait, but honestly, I've never seen so many people whining about how they just despise this company (they can't write WIndows software, they're arrogant, they don't "just work") and how they are so upset that they can't run an iPhone on their 64-bit WIn box. Why would you possibly want to own an iPhone if Apple is so horrible? Why even waste the keystrokes bitching about it? Weren't you over all the iPhone hype before it even came out, or are you secretly jealous that you didn't stand in line to get one?
I'm digging MY iPhone - it runs great on my partially 64-bit Mac OS and I'm thrilled that I've not been forced to run XP for any of my music or communications gadgets. (okay, that last part was probably flame-bait - haha).
"Get Now!" or "Get it Now!" ? - Or is it the actual process of clicking a button to skip an otherwise lengthier ordering/bidding/auction process that the patent locks out? "Buy Now" is so ubiquitous on the net - seems like this would be a hard one to enforce. I use an "E-Bid" function on my site for optional bids instead of the normal "Add" (to cart) button. Could "Add" or "Add to Cart" be considered skipping the bidding process, or does this only apply to the exact words "Buy Now"? I wonder if I can patent the "Play" process for all media players.;)
My "intuition" after listening to a few of these is that it's an interesting experiment, but please, please people... don't use this music in a production that the general public might ever have to listen to. Create your own ringtone. Listen to your creations in your own home. Listen with headphones on your mp3 player. But DON'T put this drivel in a media production or game. Yuk!
I hear installation is a relatively painless process except for soldering the charge indicator LED's to the, umm, fuel source.
Music Licensing for Podcasts

Other than the brief note about being careful about music copyrights, I'm wondering if the author delves into where Podcasters can obtain licensed production music that has the appropriate usage rights for Podcasting, which seems to fall somewhere between multimedia and broadcast.
I'm hoping to capitalize on the craze soon when I restructure the pricing on my site, but this is so new that I have no idea if people are willing to actually license music for their Podcasts - maybe the larger ones with corporate sponsors, but I really want to cater to the small guys, including giving away free music now and then with a CC license.
Any thoughts? Do you think people will pay for Podcasting music like they do for say a Flash animation, etc.?
Actually,.Mac now has an option to purchase additional space.
The stock $99 service (including all the other.Mac goodies) includes 250MB and 3GB of transfers/month. The iDisk storage upgrade gives you 1GB and 10GB of transfers/month for an additional $49.95/year.
I certainly wouldn't order.Mac just for the iDisk storage, but it's handy to have this functionality linked to the other.Mac properties, such as the integrated backup utility, web bookmarks, calendar sharing and address book, etc.
No, I don't work for Apple but I don't mind if this makes the stock go up more.;)
[Dateline: So Yesterday - Boyland, CA] Scientists at CalTech are now saying that the 7.0 off the Northern California coast was caused by the collective 2.0's that happened throughout the state, in the pants of those hearing the Michael Jackson verdict.
Interesting idea Kitzilla. The only problem here is that a lot of commercial music (i.e. most) won't work as background music under a voice-over - at least not without sounding like a$$. I'm personally hoping that this podcasting craze brings more awareness to legal production music downloading, which is getting cheaper and cheaper (plug: see my site http://www.primaryelements.com/ for details ). I plan on reducing my prices soon so that any old shmoe can afford a few tunes for their production without dangerously reducing their RedBull or pR0n budget. Perhaps a special discount for anti-bushie podcasts.;)
The 10.3.9 licensing problem has been fixed now... check the snerd site. I updated both apps today and everything is happy again. These guys are really on it.
Hey Saha, my "day-job" employer just started using the Snerdware apps a while ago. They work really good. There are still a few limitations, such as AddressX only importing a small subset of Exchange contact data (doesn't pull in the mailing address, etc.), but all the good stuff is in there and we run a database with all the contact info if anyone ever needs it. The only odd problem seems to be that GroupCal comes "unhooked" sometimes. It could just be my install, or perhaps it loses the connection when iCal is updated, but otherwise it works great. You do have to subscribe to each pub calendar that you want, which can be a pain if you need to re-install. Otherwise, Snerdware has saved our OSX users from the scourge of Exchange.
I can only imaging what hell LaserCats will cause with these 300 terawatt devices...

I developed a way to transfer data from Excel to FileMaker, it's called typing. Can I have a check also?

...that just got a little love letter from Ameritrade.
"Dear Valued Client..."
They don't mention anything about the data on the missing tape, 1 of 4 that hasn't been recovered, being encrypted OR compressed.
They advised that I put a security alert on my credit agency accounts - what fun!
