The funny part is that the ad was illustrated with an image from French comic book serie Astérix, without the authorization of the author.
The author complained about the copyright infringement (especially as the authors always refused to associate their characters with politics), and the ad was quickly removed.

It *is* a difference in *perceived* lightning, and it works the way it should work, that is, color constancy is not a flaw. In other words, it is a lightning illusion, so I thought the "no, it's not" wasn't accurate.

Actually both comments are correct, but with a different point of view.

One meant (I think), if the image is a photo of two real spheres lit with coloured lights, the squares are not actually the same color (in a white light), and the pixel value is irrelevant(that was the blue car in the night bit).

I think that's not what the parent meant.

Lightning change through the day, so the actual color of reflecting objects also is changing. But the object didn't physically change and your brain "corrects" color, that is abstracts them (you wouldn't say your blue car to be blue the day and dark gray the night, it's simply blue).

In the illusion at hand, left sphere is interpreted as being lit by a red light, while the red sphere is interpreted as being lit by a blue light.

Of course, "Ceci ne sont pas des sphères", only pixels, so the comparison on interpreted colors fails.
But given two real spheres, lit one by a red light and one by a blue light, and reflecting like in the picture, the colors would be different with these two spheres lit by a same white light.

That's stupid but you can't decide that your work is public domain, That's not stupid, that's logical (ok, sometime something that is logical may seem stupid). Public domain is not a license, but means an expiration of copyright so you don't need a license anymore.
Also publishing with no license means default copyright protection, which means no copy allowed at all. That's also the way GPL works : If you disagree with its terms, or that some clause of the license is ruled abusive, default copyright protection applies, which means no distribution (by anyone other that the author(s) ).

A dozen system files have been updated as part of this undocumented stealth update... and yet not a single antivirus software reported this. Why? 1) Most antivirus software can only detect known viruses. They do not detect viral activity, only a numeric signature. Won't detect stealth updates, if that update doesn't match a signature.

    2) For the few behavioral antivirus software, my guess is that they're monitoring activity under some user accounts, and that they're not able to monitor activity of the "System" accounts and other special accounts.
