If you have even bothered to read the story, you would see that it (and I quote) sits on four legs, much like a small version of the original landers that brought astronauts to the moon.
Well of course. I have always loved Nintendo (Mostly because of my, er, bad relationships with sony and...um...you know). They always make sure their games don;t have those pesky loading screens, and that everything is innovative. They are the only ones to have both digital and analog button states (L and R). They made sure that the buttons register a press right when you put your finger on one. The list goes on. Makes me wonder what their plans for a controller is going to be.
Add RFID tags to all the books, and a reciver every 5-10 feet or along the bookshelfs. Add compatibility to the lookup system, to tell users where the book REALLY is, and not where it was last filed. Doubles as a security system.
LED's wouldn't doo the trick. I would use IR Lasers and detect when a person would be within 3-6 seconds of hiting the door before opening it. Sort of like laser speed meters that the highway partol uses, but smallified. Than use a lens to widen the beam parallel to the slats. Mabye use a small camera IR while you are at it.
I read the first few thousand words of the bible, and it really tells you a lot, and in fact (if you really read between the lines) supports evolution. Skipping to Adam and Eve, god created them like animals, not knowing good and evil, because he did not want them to be in any way like himself. However, not knowing who is evil can be deadly. A serpent said that the tree of knowlage is not deadly to the touch, and convinced Eve to eat from the tree. (Little did he know that that was actually true!) So Eve convinced Adam to eat from the tree of knowlage, and they knew good from evil, and relised that the serpent was evil. God was mad at this, because they were one step closer to eating from the tree of life, which would make them immortal. So he made it so women could not tell men what to do. (and so on...)
But take a look at this: The tree of knowlage was supposed to be DEADLY! So why didn't they die? Evolution. They adaped. If fact, evolution worked SO well, that god had to shorten the lifespan from 1000 years to no more than 120. (At least, thats my take on it)
Now why didn't
MTV nominate Metroid: Prime for its music? Most Nintendo titles have absolutely stunning music, especially Metroid: Prime, to go aling with the brillant artwork and complete attention to detail.

Everyone TOTALLY got it backwards. You are supposed to go to www.sco.com, NOT realm systems!!!
Or Perl/Shell script/python/PHP/ruby/... (in that order)

There goes BZFlag.
It's not totally impossable.
BZFlag is an VERY good (3D) open source multiplayer game that uses openGL. It workd in OS X, Linux, windows, and a few other platforms...
Game programmers could learn somthing by taking a look at the code.
No one has tried googling, for example, physical laptop protection?!?
The first few pages of results are very relevent to both preventing theft and recovering a laptop after it has been stolen.
Fine Print: Yah, i know it links to the google query 'laptop physical protection'. For some reason it provides better results.
freemind is a good peice of mindmapping software I use. It exports HTML, and you can enter your notes in HTML if you start the first line with <html>
