For another interesting comparison, check netcraft for digg and compare it with slashdot Slashdot way outclasses them, natably in ranking as the 47th most visited site. (I swear, half of the top ten are google)
Also, for uptime people,/. last rebooted 102 days ago while for digg it is only 40 days ago.
If we slashdot digg in a holy war, will it be a diggdotting? A slashdigging? Diggslashing? Will any server survive if we post stories at the same time? Will our heroes prevail?
Well, for most people who could care less about OSS, iWork is pretty nice. If they could just get a good spreadsheet it would be amazing. From personal experience and my friend's, Pages is nice and polished and keynote has always been respected, and IMHO outclasses office at what it does. We want an Apple Office!
I would like to be known as firing the first shots in a new holy war that will blow away vi vs emacs or linux vs windows or any other holy war. Death to Digg!!! Eat flaming death you unwashed huns!

Machinery does not always work when dust gets in it, or at least not as well. That, combined with the facts that lower gravity allows more dust to be suspended in air and that most of the moon's surface is covered in dust means it will be a much bigger problem. Also, they will often be working with much more intricate machinery, so the problem is compunded. A good Earth example is the battles in North Africa in WW2. Dust in tanks and guns proved to be a nightmare for both sides. A gun is relatively simple machinery, especially the bolt action or semiautomatic rifles of that time, but they still jam and otherwise misbehave. (I know, a gun is a poor example, it requires constant attention, care, and cleaning)
Litigation cost a lot for both sides buddy, even if it is a group lawsuit. Also, harassing people makes you the bad guy too. Don't be a loser, you're just encouraging them. As a side note, my primary problem with DRM is that it is there because the RIAA/MPAA thinks that people would pirate it without it. This is treating your customers as criminals! That doesn't sit well with me, so I've stopped buying CDs. I never bought many anyways, and I'm not demanding others not to, but I'm just doing my part.
Thanks for clearing that up. I guess you're right, maybe they could modify some other protocol or client. It's always a shame to see something with legitimate purposes getting shut down for illegal use. If they could only get ith trough their fat greedy skulls that p2p/filesharing is 100% legal, it's sharing copyrighted works that isn't. Haven't they ever heard of USENET? Torrent is good for it's purposes, but i guess you would need more users for it to be practical really.
It won't be immediately after release, but it shouldn't be too long till TES IV: Oblivion is released, and if I buy a 360 that will be why (I'm a PC gamer at heart, but consoles do 'just work') That won't be on PS3 IIRC. Also, MS seems downright agreeable when you look at Sony presently.
But can they not use BitTorrent over Internet2? If not, porting would be a worthwhile and rewarding task. They could aslo fix the UI up - it's absolutely hideous, or at least outlandish on Windows, but native looking on OS X and Linux
Interestingly enough, the kernel is one of the open sourced parts of OS X. Darwin is entirely open source and it forms the base system of OS X. Anything required to run the computer is open source, or has an open source Darwin equivalent.
Even if it was that simple, it is incredibly tough to create applications that can harness that power, especially since they work mostly from the ground up with no high level stuff to help them along. Can you imagine allocating memory and threads across 65,536 processors and who know how many gigabytes (terabytes?) of RAM? If so, can I have your autograph?
...then it's easy. You just have to know how improbable it is, probably. The tricky part is watching out for the lynch mob of respectable physicists afterwards.
My first thought as well. Interestingly enough, most falling injuries sustained by cats are from short distances when they don't have their time to throw their weight around and right themselves. I always thought that butter, jelly, or whatever you put on your toast for breakfast would throw the weight balance of it slightly, but enough to cause it to favor falling face first. I guess not =/ ::Still thinking that episode out::
I read that and it made a lot of sense. I always wondered why billion, with the bi wasn't two millions (multiplied that is, so a million squared). That made a lot of sense. Sigh. Too bad in American English it's deprecated to the point that we have to look up definitions. I haven't even heard older people use that terminology, my parents haven't even heard it before.
I'm foreseeing some latency problems, and the bandwidth can't be too good, but at least you never drop a connection until your neighbor decides to go hunting.

Wooo! He made a windows slash. I think that qualifies as blaspheme. We've got a mole boys!

Or for LISPers: (or (* 2 B) (not (* 2 B)))

Brings new meaning to talking out of your ass.
No, real men know that - Aw hell, can I have some Karma too!?
