Damn right. It's all about money and power. If either party can gain either of those key resources by piggybacking, they are gonna do it in the blink of an eye. This is also the source of many of the smear campaigns near voting time... "Bob Jones voted for [insert anti-party-line legislation]! He must be a piece of shit!"

The thing that really scares me about the current situation is the fact that anyone that votes against these anti-terrorist bills is going to be booed and heckled. Prepare for some horrible legislation, my friends.

There may be more truth to this than you expect. There's an article in the Dec 2002 Discover concerning the reintroduction of homeosis as a real and potentially useful effect. Unfortunately, they haven't updated their site to the Dec. issue, so I can't give you a link. Expect to hear more about this in the near future... whether the news will support or debunk homeosis, I don't know.

Anyone who thinks they will acquire even an intermediate level of skill (starting from an unskilled base) by reading these books are, IMHO, mistaken.

Might reduce memory latency for the frame buffers of the future.

Except for the games that want to read the color buffer... then you'd have to make the Card->Monitor interface cable have good 2-way bandwidth. Of course, that limitation would probably just force game programmers to figure out a way around it, which would probably use more CPU/GPU time, which would push gaming technology even faster!

Seriously, though... for "business" level video cards (read: Secretaries, Data Entry folk), this could potentially be a cost-saver.

I think this really depends on how much more/less power is needed to change the pixels compared to how much power it takes to display a pixel with other technologies. As for sticking with your CRT for now... it's not like you can go out and buy an iMoD display today... so I'm with ya there ;)

Maybe once a third-party actually does a real comparison between the varying screen technologies, we can make an informed decision about the future of iMoD in the marketplace. Once again, PR's rule the day...

I think the underlying point of this matter is that the GPL is too restrictive for publicly-funded software products. So you are telling me that I can use this software that I paid for with taxes, but I can't use it in a closed-source fashion?

I think too many people are seeing this as giving money to corporations, and I suppose that in a way, it is. However, corporations pay taxes, too... and many small businesses/startups could really use a helping hand by being able to use these products to facilitate making a profit.
