Back in my early internet days (mid 90s), I used to hang out in Undernet (IRC). Our little hacker community used various 1337 speak and we made up alot on the spot too, always trying to out do each other.
We had our various kiddie words we used to amuse ourselves, such as unf, shnee, woop and jizm.
We used to say woop alot, one day someone decided to say woot, I don't know if they read it elsewhere or made it up on the spot, but it caught on.
I always figured it was derived from "woop", but I guess we'll never know (not like it really matters anyway)
$500 nets you a machine that runs OS X, if you haven't been paying attention.
Yes, a machine with 5 year old hardware specs. My 2 year old dell is a 2.66ghz p4 with 1gb of ram, 160gb hd, etc. etc.. Not some machine with hardware from the mid 90's.
I mean the cheapest Mac Mini is $499 for a 1.25GHz with 256MB of ram. 256mb? Thats great if I only want to run the operating system. I would have to upgrade everything on the Mac Mini and it would end up costing $1000 American, and since I live in Canada, it would cost me over $1200. Hardly worth it for those specs.
A few years ago, I bought one of the first cordless Logitech mice, but I grew tired of replacing the batteries every few weeks. I had to buy a battery recharger just to deal with it, ugh what a money sink. Since then, I've stuck to good old corded optical mice.
Unfortunately, Winamp 2.9 was the last good version, and it looks like this plugin only works with Winamp 5.x. I stopped using Winamp years ago when it turned from an mp3 player to an everything under the sun audio video player.
I'm glad there are more and more alternatives to iTunes, it's such a horrid program to use IMO.
While I'm all for having alternatives, may I ask what is wrong with iTunes? Alot of slashdotters seem to hate iTunes? I personally love it. I find it way easier to manage large amounts of mp3s, playlists and my iPod with it.
Media Player Classic is the only player I use. It's open source, and you can play real media and quicktime files in it, along with pretty much everything else.
Media Player Classic will integrate with IE or Firefox if you want, so you can view content from within the webpage (but I hate this feature, so I leave it disabled)
If you use Windows, I strongly recommend you try it out, it's way better then Windows Media Player 9 or 10 with all the DRM crap. The reason it's called Media Player Classic is because it's based off of Windows Media Player 6, the last good release of WMPlayer from Microsoft.
The first link says the RoboMow was first released in 1998. The only problem is it doesn't leave nice rows in the lawn when you do it yourself.

On a side note, doesn't ZDNet have a spell checker?
According to numerous sources (google and tfd.com) organization and organisation are both valid?
On a side note, "centre" is a valid word, but they probably meant "center", unless they are a "centre" that deals with gravity.
I don't see how Mozilla is in the wrong. It is upto the various linux distributions to manage said distribution, not mozilla.
I want Firefox security updates as soon as they are available on my Micro$oft box, why should I have to wait for distribution X to play catchup. It is said distributions job to maintain that distribution, not Mozilla.
Should I, the user, have to wait for important security updates because some distribution wants to repackage them? The answer is no.
Nothing, because the method you mentioned doesn't work, atleast not on my Windows XP Pro SP1 box.
I searched the registry and deleted every "NeverShowExt" key. The.shs extension is still hidden.

And it comes with REVERSI!!!!!
Are they going to search people for cream pies?
I think the Logitech MX900 Bluetooth Optical Mouse is the best, but it's also the most expensive at $150 Canadian.
I love Logitech mice and keyboards, they made damn good peripherals.
I've been using a Logitech Elite Keyboard (Elite keyboard! hehe) for over 2 years now and it's by far my favourite keyboard ever.
As for mouse, I use a Logitech® MX(TM)518 Gaming-Grade(TM) Optical Mouse, since i'm a first-person shooter addict.

Wow. Thanks for bringing that up, I never even knew about that. Has there been a lawsuit? (Disney should get sued up the wazoo)

They've had a robot mower for years now. Look here here or here

I would much rather use Mac OS X then Windows. I wish I was rich so I could buy a dual G5, this would be the next best thing.
