How many drugs do people need to take to function 'normally?' I am no Scientologist, but I think that drugs are not the instant solution for every emotional or physical problem we face.
Bush had the power to do spy on people legally, but for whatever reason, he did it illegally.
How are you supposed to trust ANYTHING the Bush Administration does after they admit to starting a war based on false pretenses? They defended the invasion of Iraq SO HARD that they would demonize their opponents and always would deny any wrongdoing was done, until it came out that it was all a lie. It is shameful.
It is unfortunate to say, but this Bush Administration is one of the most corrupt in history. Look at the Abramoff lobbying scandals, FEMA's failure with Katrina, the huge deficit and debt, the no-bid contracts for rebuilding Iraq, the $9 Billion that just went missing that was supposed to be spent on rebuilding Iraq, the lies about the reasons to invade Iraq, the torture of innocent prisoners, and the military contracts for inferior armor.
If President Clinton can be impeached for an affair, what makes Bush immune from impeachment for lying and spying?
He claims that increasingly, "we're all geeks" -- even if a lot of people don't care to admit it.
I remember when a geek was a guy who was extremely intelligent, read books, didn't dress well or had the latest fashions, never had a good haircut/hygiene, was not good at sports and never made out with girls.
If we are all indeed 'geeks' than the word geek doesn't mean anything. Or maybe we're just all nerds trying to be geeks?
1. Sounds sad to say, but in this day and age, you can't trust anybody just because what they say sounds intelligent or correct. Rather, you have to read about file and password security, computer protection, sharing data, and staying up to date with the latest trends and advances from reliable sources. Verify that what you are being told is true, preferrably from a knowledgeable human being.
2. Take a class in basic computing, using email, the internet, installing software and hardware and general computer maintenance. You can learn a lot from a knowledgeable instructor, and chances are you will have notes and books of what you have learned for future reference.
3. Read slashdot.com, cnet.com, search wikipedia and many other informative sites like this one.
Google ads sandwiched by pay-to-play music and infotainment talk radio, sounds like a bad business model to me. But since they have tons of money to spend, what do they have to lose?
PS anything that says 'targeted' immediately brings up privacy concerns.
But what we really want to know is does this 'smart elevator' prevent the annoying jackass from hitting all the floor buttons at the same time?
If so, this truly would be a wonderful invention.
Robert K. Merton listed five causes of unanticipated consequences:
(I have applied them to Sony's decision to use rootkits)
1. Ignorance (It is impossible for Sony to anticipate everything.)
2. Error (Incomplete analysis of the rootkit problem, or following habits that worked in the past but may not apply to the current situation.)
3. Immediate interest in stopping a computer from copying something, may override long-term interests of sustaining their reputation as honest and trustworthy.
4. Basic values of trusting your customers may require or prohibit certain actions like installing a rootkit, even if the long-term result might be unfavorable. (These long-term consequences may eventually cause changes in those same basic values.)
5. Installing malware on people's computers is always a self-defeating prophesy (Fear of some consequence drives people to find solutions before the problem occurs, thus the non-occurrence of the problem is unanticipated.)
This may be a bit off topic, but I remember that the Bell South brand telephones were of the absolute WORST quality of all manufacturers.
They were cheaply made, rattled when moved, and broke fairly quickly as I recall.
Maybe their poor quality can say something about their overall business practices. Maybe not.
Ben Franklin, oh how we need people like him today.
Some great quotes from Poor Richard's Almanack:
Drive thy Business, or it will drive thee.
He that falls in love with himself will have no rivals.
Setting too good an example is a kind of slander seldom forgiven.
Experience keeps a dear school, yet fools will learn in no other.
Write with the learned, pronounce with the vulgar.
Necessity never made a good bargain.
Three may keep a secret, if two of them are dead.
Dost thou love life? Then do not squander time; for that's the stuff life is made of.
If your Riches are yours, why don't you take them with you to t'other World?
A good conscience is a continual Christmas.
God heals, and the doctor takes the fee.
Early to bed and early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise.
Laws too gentle are seldom obeyed; too severe, seldom executed.
If you'd know the value of money, go and borrow some.

more often than not, big teams have slowly and expensively labored to produce overly complex web applications whose usability was near nil on behalf of clients with at best vague goals.
We need to immediately have a meeting to discuss reducing complexity, increasing usability and clarifying our goals.
A friend of mine told me once how badly their office was run.
The biggest problem, in his opinion, was the number of meetings that they had in order to discuss the projects they were working on. Frustration built up among employees due to not having enough time to actually do the work, as well as the number of times that he was interrupted in the middle of doing something productive - simply to go to another pointless meeting.
In his opinion, these meetings caused just as many problems as they tried to solve, and ironically, they would sometimes generate more meetings to discuss how far they were along in meeting their original deadlines.
I would tell you more about it, but I have a meeting to attend.

Sure, it could be wrong...something as theoretical can always be wrong. I think the observations that man can make from Earth most likely are bent or distorted by the massive size of the galaxy and the distances between them. Something so huge is hard to measure or calculate definitively.
I would say it is a hidden program that transmits your personal data that you neither want or need, yet the company who makes it wants it to secretly further their own interests and profit.

If the answers are yes, I would say it is Spyware.
Its funny how my post was modified as a Troll, yet this post is Insightful?
I don't understand how this rating system works, apparently.
Again, I am a confirmed Independent.
LOL Im a Troll....well I will just say that after all the scandals in this country, I am a confirmed INDEPENDENT.
And believe me, I would say the exact same things if this happened under a Democratic Presidential Administration.
UK News did a story on this last year.
;)
After reading it, I just shook out my keyboard over a garbage can. I think that took care of all the germs

'future action in patent policy to create an EU-wide patent system can take account of stakeholders needs.'
What? I don't seem to understand this quote.
I guess that correct grammar has already been patented by the Grammar Nazis.

Don't you see it? It's right next to the ANY key.
If anyone really expected them to provide not-the-best-benchmark-results, can I have some of what you're smoking ?
Sorry, the only thing we are smoking are the same Intel iMacs, and boy does it taste like chip.

Can you flip off someone in Japanese? Give them the OK sign? Give them a stop with the full palm?
It would be interesting to know how these motions translate, if at all.
That is why it is hypothetical.

Is this a sign of intelligence? Or is it a sign of the instant-gratification age?
You must read what is on the page to judge how good or bad it is, in my opinion.
Q: How exactly does Quaero translate: "Google is the best internet search engine ever made."
Inquiring minds want to know.
Check out http://www.quaero.com/ - its a marketing company from Charlotte, North Carolina.

'Don't be evil' would apply here.
Is Open Source software used primarily to profit? or for fun? Or both?
