sounds like the original poster hasn't actually used an itanic. they suck balls. big hairy moose balls.
One of the biggest problems: You have to re-write your code to get decent speeds. People have code that is quite speedy on i386, macppc, sparc, mips, etc, but is dog slow on the itanic (both the itanic, and the itanic2).
another problem: they have fast giggleboops, but they aren't really fast. a friend of mine works for an animation movie studio, and intel gave them a 32-machine cluster to try out for the render farm. so my friend put the itanic cluster against a 32-machine cluster of what they were currently using: 3 year old alphas. The alphas were 1.7 times faster. Even after an intel engineer came in to tune their machines, and massage the code.
nope, never seen one. when I graduated highschool they gave me a piece of paper that said "come back in august for your actual diploma", but I never returned.
I know Windows decently, Mac and Unix quite well. I've been asked to several interviews specificly because I can do two of them (Normaly they want Mac or Unix (so far not both), and a little bit of Windows as well).
I'm not certified in anything. I choose to actually know the subject than to have a pretty piece of paper. Besides, I have a colour printer for when they do care about pretty papers.
I am one of those california village-grown fools, and it pisses me off. Everything useful I have had to teach myself, which sadly includes trying to figure out the basic backstory for shit.
I know I'm not as smart as I should be, but I don't know what I'm unaware of:/. Hows that for a shitty oxymoron. *grumpy*
If there aren't drivers for my OS, I won't buy their hardware. Period. They just lost a sale from me. I personally know 20 people that do the same. And thats just people I know in person. Thats not counting the hundreds of people I have talked about this with online.
I'm not saying they should release it out to the general public, but allow developers to read the docs and write the code for it. We don't want them to write the code for us, or to be 1st level support. Hell, the only time we'd talk to them after getting the docs, is to report a bug.
when my little sister was 3, I saw her go to the imac, eject the music cd that mom had in there, put it back in the case, get her favorite game out, put it in the drive, and start playing. She even held the cd correctly (by the edges, with no grubby hands on the actual media).
After that, we taught her to ask permission before touching the computer.
Ok, here's another one: why are people really happy when they receive big income tax refunds, knowing full well that they've lost a year's worth of potential interest on their money that they could have had if they had filled out their W-4 differently? Look, the government isn't giving you money -- they are giving you your own money back after drawing interest on it! Ok, I'll stop ranting now...
I'll tell you why I'm happy about that. I suck at dealing with money. I know this. I try to put money away, but I always end up spending it on something. Doesn't matter what, it gets spent. So I just file S/0, which guarentees that I get a refund in April. I put that money away, and by June, I have spent it on something. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a new laptop to configure.
Theo himself runs OpenBSD on SPARC. You are practically guarenteed to always have a working OpenBSD on SPARC, because if it breaks, the breaker has to deal with Theo;)
why should AIX give a shit about LSB? *Linux* Standard Base, AIX is not Linux. Sanely written programs compile on AIX, Linux, BSD, HPUX, Solaris, and pretty much all of the other POSIX systems out there.
TFA seems to be promoting incompetence and laziness in programming, which is the exact opposite direction they should be going.
at which point you show them the clause in the employment contract that says "our computers are only avaliable for you to do actual work on", then go to slashdot and post about it.
not to be a dick, but I have never had to do that with my openbsd box. it has always worked out of the box for me. sure, I had to do a little bit of research to figure out the correct settings for my XF86Config (it was a laptop, and I had to find Modelines), but other than that, it all Just Worked.
Also, any time I load openbsd on a desktop with a regular monitor, X works w/o any configuration needed.
you seem to believe that linux does what the documentation says. its so cute to see the naive.
haha, you poor bastard. its a sailboat.

didn't make the saving throw, I don't belive the story.
Why would NetBSD care?
This is OpenBSD.

the kiddies will all have a mouse-gesture to go to the first tab automagically. and they'll probably have something to obfuscate the page titles.

Problem Solved.
(Its funny. Laugh.)

nah, its always 55F-60F. Or so.
snow forms at 32 degrees. duh!
Dude, you're in Canada. Open the window.
Now you just have to figure out how to keep the snow off of the carpet.
Move to San Francisco.
Today it hit 70F, and the news stations are talking about "the heatwave of 2005".

only $2/gallon? The place by my house is $2.79/gallon.

I'm using firefox but I don't see 'em. probably because flash and java don't exist for my platform (openbsd on macppc). :)
yes, javascript is turned on, but I turned off the popup annoyances.
try typing in the same ipv6 address a few hundred times. I have my range memorized.
