2. Mine still works. The only source I found is some guy who says he got the landing page you get when you use Verizon's app. Anyone actually get this warning using any of the non Verizon apps?
Have you bought a Windows machine from Dell in the past year or two? They have gotten surprising lean on the "craplets." Traditionally I always would reinstall the OS when I got a new machine but the last two didn't have much shareware or pre-installs. Nothing I had to remove. All I remember is CD Burning, Google Desktop, DVD Player, A dell support tool, and some bloated Touch pad drivers. Dell stopped putting trial anti virus scanners on it and I can't find any trial games. You need to watch fewer Mac commercials and stop buying Acer.
The article doesn't say that Stringer said that. They just throw the holiday release date out there as if it was fact. I am sick of stupid rumors and horrible summaries.
Does that mean I shouldn't have homeowners insurance since houses are readily available at a convenient price? It is the same thing on a different scale.
I understand that it much of this does seem like the next progression and expected progress, but that doesn't make it less interesting. The next progression for cars is supposed to be better gas mileage and flying. I'll still be excited when that happens even though we all expected it by the year 2000...
I haven't seen anyone mention one thing yet: Oracle XE.
This is a free database with most of Oracle's enterprise functionality. It will hold giant amounts of data, it has full XML support, and it will run on a developer's machine if needed.
I agree with you that any abuse of the information is definitely a problem. I also think that analyzing and prosecuting a person for a crime they didn't commit is wrong. But that is not what happened. Someone is not flagged as a potential terrorist for making a call to Germany. This is not a case of people being accused of future crimes. What happened is phone calls are monitored in an effort to find and monitor terrorists. This is not a witch hunt. It is a terrorist hunt. They are real. They do exist. They have caused great harm to many people. We need to work hard to find them because they are working hard to hurt us.
What bothers me is the same group of people who say that the war on Iraq was started on faulty inteligence and that 9/11 could have been prevented are now complaining that our inteligence agencies should not be collecting intelligence except in very specific ways. I think they need to pick a side and stop grasping at straws.
What freedom have you lost? You can still make the phone call. You can still talk about whatever you want. You can publically bash our President. I think you have plenty of freedom.
I agree with the above. I think that the NSA should be able to collect all of the information they want. It isn't hurting me if the have transcripts of every phone call I make as long as they are using it for national security.
The comment isn't flamebait just because you don't agree with it or it has a conservative point-of-view.
I didn't get an answer so I downloaded it and it has all of the xml database support. Very cool. There are no other databases out there that have such great XML support and performance.
I found that managing Oracle's databases is pretty easy. There console is nice and everything is easy to find and intuitively placed. Can you elaborate on what you don't like?
All I heard was, "I'm annoying, then white noise."
Seriously, the article summary should read:
This is too hard, this is too easy, Goldilocks only wants lukewarm porridge.
As much as I don't like MS, You need to update your ways to bash them. They have resolved most crashing problems in there latest software. Try something like standards compliance, trapping you into using their software, or a complete lack of scalability.
Oracle has Tars, the most evil, tedious thing ever. It makes it take at least a half an hour to ask any question or to report a Mission Critical error. They also have meta-link which has the worst search engine known to man. Other than that, there support is great.
1. After clicking through a few links I found the original story:

"The Man has requested a read receipt, would you like to send that now?"
Do they mean install the same patches that made machines unusable a few months ago? http://news.zdnet.com/2100-1009_22-6062026.html I'll hold off for a month.
Generalizations are always true.
It isn't all java. Look at this list: http://projects.apache.org/indexes/languagecategor y.html/

Are you trying to make my workplace ban my iPod? Cut it the hell out.

is it really wise to change the logo to something that has no inherent brand identification, and to drop the incredibly recognizable 'Pentium'?"
Sure it is. The first thing I think of is the original Pentium when I hear the word Pentium. Without the 4 after it, it inheritly sounds slow.

Shut up Randy, I said it right to his face. I swear to god I did.

Will this version containt XDB? So far Oracle has had the only XML database worth two poops.

Isn't Oracle afraid that it could catch the GPL bug? One wrong key and they will have to open their entire empire of code to everyone.

I just downloaded the beta and it has 1. A nag screen, 2. An exit nag screen. I say stick with the ones that are actually free.
