Or we could accept the fact that he doesn't live in america and that the 'n-word' has difference meanings depending on location. For example, it simply isn't that big a deal where I live. It's a nasty word, but that's all.
I think you're wrong. People in poverty have always had kids. Financial insecurity doesn't preclude kids. We are seeing this trend in mostly Western countries where people are told that they should wait until they are financially secure before having kids. During that time the wife's fertility drops substantially and they end up have a couple of kids late. This will continue as long as there is the message, "wait until you're financially secure until you have kids." Unfortunately there are real problems with having kids late. Further, it doesn't need to stop - immigration (which I have no problem with) will take the place. But there are consequences to that - demographic changes and a change in cultural values.
Coming late to the discussion here, but I'd like to talk about Adobe Audition. It does not use knobs. Here are my thoughts:
I came late to the recording game. To clarify, I am an amateur recorder. That said, I have a fairly complete rack at home, and it has lots of knobs. Like, heaps! And when I am adjusting attacks/delays/etc the knobs are fine.
Switching to Audition, if I apply something like a compressor, each value has a slider and an editable number at the end. It is excellent - I can fine tune the values, write them down if I need to. I have never felt hampered by the lack of knobs and would hate it if they went that way. 'Attack' means something, and it doesn't matter whether you use a knob or a slider to enter it. On a rack, a knob uses way less space than a slider, but is also less accurate. Why would I possibly want that on a computer?
So there IS software that doesn't do this. That said, anytime you switch to VST plugins it is like switching to shareware hour in the 1990s.
This is really good news for the research community. Full coverage ill mean amazing gains in learning not only how diseases propogate, but also the effect of scheduling, and the real risks involved with vaccinating. This could be a big nail in the lid of the anti-vax movement. Not to mention that France's children will be saved from a lot of nasty diseases.
I know you're reading this. Could you please, please, please flick the switch that lets me install Windows 10 on my Lumia 530 before you turn out the lights.
This is actually still really bad news for consumers. Both browsers are designed to lock you into an ecosystem. In Chrome's case it is Google's advertising ecosystem; Edge is designed to keep you dependant on Microsoft tech. What is really needed is a move to Firefox and (yes) Opera. A diversification of browsers is good for compatibility and standards compliance and liberates users from monopolistic corporation whose motivations are unclear and convoluted.
That's stupid. You're comparing Apple iphone production installs to Android installations. That is not an apples-to-apples comparison. For your claim to be correct you'd have to do an Android-to-iOS installations comparison, and that would include tablets. And if that is the case, you'd also have to include embedded Android systems.
Comparisons only work if you use two similar items. In this case the author is comparing the market actualisation of two phones. What you're suggesting is comparing the market actualisation of the iphone with the Android install base. If that were the case, Sony, LG, Microsoft, etc caould all be said to have no market share and/or influence.
Regardless of your religious views, this is an excellent (and readable) example of seasoned academics taking a poor writer to task. The God Delusion was very popular, but incredibly poorly thought out and written.
When I was doing my Masters dissertation I switched. A LOT of tabs meant my computer was slowing down. Opera has been a dream. In addition, Australia records net activity so the built in VPN is nice. The plugins are all available too (90%).
> Regards the BT/WiFi adapters, many, many laptops I've seen have combo chipsets that use the same, tiny antenna for both BT and WiFi, using both together causes severe reduction in range for both if it doesn't lock up the driver/chip altogether.
Do you do that much? Have your BT and Wireless operating concurrently? Because the antenna can't operate both at the same time - the system will alternate timeshare the two.
> Some others skimp on the technology altogether and still sell 802.11b or n chipsets, low res camera's or even some non-standard display resolution like 1200x1050.
Which is my point - you're then not doing an apples to apples comparison.
I think you're wrong. To suggest that the average mac is bleeding edge is crap. Let's assume there is a 4 year upgrade cycle on the average home computer. That would mean that 25% are new, 25% are one year old, 25% are three years old, and 25% are four years old.
So at least 50% are out of date. And this is generous - there are always people with macs years out of date. My forecast relies on everyone updating every four years.
But we can also critically assess some of the other crap you posted. For example, I would agree with the statement that a lot of PC sales are technology that are a generation out of date. But I would contest that once you equalise for price. If you want to go to the effort of disproving me go for it, but a quick peruse of Dell's website shows that only sell PCs with 6th and 7th gen processors in their home range - you can't get older. This is equivalent to the iMac range.
Further, maybe because you're a fanboi, you seem to think that the WiFi card is a high end peice of equipment that will drastically effect user experience. I would suggest that's absolute crap, and that maybe you should look to something like the graphics card, for which Apple is renowned for lagging behind in terms of technology. Then again, maybe that's why macs are cheaper. Which they're not.
The analogy is poor. Yes, the average apple is better than the average PC. It is also $1500 more expensive. If you blow the same amount then the PC will provide slightly better hardware.
What's missing from the the analogy then? Software? This is more a personal choice then - there is nothing that one can do that the other can't (excluding a few special pieces of software on either side).
I guess the other thing missing is the operator. You're right - many Porsche users would never dream of switching to a non-Porsche product. What does this say about those people? They're satisfied. They're less critical. They care about value for money less. They care about having a high quality car more.

It's called Arab States. It is very boring. It is related to my PhD, as I wouldn't read it otherwise.
Alternate facts. Nice.

I use Bing because it makes competition in the market place. For advanced searches I still use Google, but that's just because my google-fu is better.
As a researcher in this specific area, this is... unhelpful. :(

Does anyone know if Opera was used in battery saver mode?
Could we edit the title to at least include his name - credit where it is due.
Wasn't the original Jaguar a pretty high spec machine?

Seriously. Please feel free to interpret this in light of your own beliefs to avoid arguments.
Does it come with free VPN too? Because your internet history is saved by your ISP under law in Australia.
You shouldn't need to use an extension. That's part of the point.

> That "quaint" method is still the only method to actually receive high-quality copies of movies and TV shows.
Not anymore.
You're hilarious. I've specifically stated, repeatedly, that you can't compare cheap PCs to Apples. You even state you're talking about sub-$1000 PCs.
Well if you want to do it your way then you're right. If you compare a calculator to a Laptop then yes, it's worse.
But if you want to compare an Apple to a PC with similar specs then you'll just have to live with being wrong.
