Based on the fact that you can buy a programmable radio-on-a-chip for about $1 complete with chip mounted antenna, it won't be because of the transmitters. The cost comes from the fact that it is a specialized, proprietary device that isn't manufactured in massive quantities.

Exactly right. If you want to do a lot of massively parallel calculations, design a CPU to do it. Don't ship tons of data back and forth on slow[er than than the memory to CPU] bus.
General purpose graphical processing unit. If only there were some kind of unit that would process instructions centrally, it could be used for all sorts of things! We could call it... hmmm... a central processing unit? Naw, that just doesn't have enough zazz.
Seriously, this is about as silly as trying to sell "physics acceleration cards". I don't want general processing to have to be stuck going through a PCI bus. Yuck.
Or better yet, without Net Neutrality the ISPs can say "The Internet is a scary place. Them is some nice packets you got there. It would be a shame if anything were to happen to them. Lucky that Vinnie and I are here for you. If yous pays us a small "protection fee" we will ensure nothing untoward happens to your packets on the way to our customer."
Paging Mister RICO. Mister RICO you are needed to bitch slap some greedy corporate whores.
Yeah, but the exit path for the air is pretty small. Maybe 40 square inches. (A 120mm fan hole is about 17 square inches). No way there is as much air movement as he claims without an audible "whoosh". My guess is his estimate is on the optimistic side.
WOW patches... god damn sucks that my ISP tries to hamstring torrent traffic. I get 10-15 kB/s on a 3 megabit cable modem when patching. I usually wait until someone hosts the patch, then download it via HTTP.
Here's a thought: If this bridge is SO vital to the area, slap a special assessment on the property it serves. $X per acre of land. Then the people who benefit from the bridge are the ones who pay for it.
I've also got a serious collection of 2-6GB harddrives kicking around, now, so I've been using them for swap. It's really pointless to have a 4GB partition for data, so I just use the entire 6GB drive for swap on some machines.
One problem I see with that is those old hard drives are as slow as molasses in January, both in access time and throughput compared to a modern drive. So if you do end up swapping you're punishing yourself even more.
I think you may want to get your building wiring checked, or maybe you got a bad package, something isn't right. If one failed in a few weeks I would have at least tried returning it. In 4 years I have yet to have one fail on me.
Ok, I think PAX sounds like awesome fun, wish could have made it. All of the articles really make the event seem like a really great thing. But one quote from one of the multitude of articles stuck in my craw a little.
As a journalist it's very easy to get jaded, and after more than half a decade of writing about games professionally
More than half of a whole decade!? I guess it sounds much longer than "5 years" somehow? Honestly, someone is taking themselves a little too seriously.
I'm sorry, but I can't change the fact that your country has a popular (and apparently well used) asshole. Also, if I am indeed "dickless" as claimed by you, how could I be a threat to your country's anal sphincter? "Odious twat" indeed.
Why not go have another pint and keep muttering "George Boole" to yourself over and over again in the corner of the pub...
You can't buy timecards with ISK. You buy timecards with real money. You can then sell the timecard for ISK (CCP allows this). So you can only sell the ISK to people who want it. You can't "pump and dump" it into instant cash.
CCP does NOT condone selling ISK on eBay, and if they saw an auction go up and a large amount of ISK change hands, they could well step in and make sure both parties go home crying.

I couldn't do a headshot at 100 yards just by tapping a mouse button
:)
A atock AK trigger has a much heavier pull than a mouse button. With enough practice you get used to it. Or find a good gunsmith.

Only in the DRM case there is no oil.
In a sane world that would be all the more reason the landowners should shoulder the cost of the bridge.
Here's a thought: If this bridge is SO vital to the area, slap a special assessment on the property it serves. $X per acre of land. Then the people who benefit from the bridge are the ones who pay for it.
Naaaawwww, that'd never work.

WinXP Pro: Luser. why are you running the Windows ME of the 21st century?
Because I'm a gamer and some software these days unfortunately requires XP (Armored Core for BF2 for example). Do I like it? No. Am I using it? Yes.

I've been using these "next gen" CFLs for going on 4 years now. They're a lot more expensive than an incandescent bulb, but they last a lot longer.

HP depends heavily on the sale of ink to make profit after sometimes selling their printers at a loss in order to lock in the ink resale
So they are using lawery to enforce a broken business model. Why does that sound familiar?
Can I have your stuff?
BackCompat? What is this, 1984? Your crimethink is doubleplusungood.
WAR IS PEACE
FREEDOM IS SLAVERY
IGNORANCE IS STRENGTH
And c'mon. It's Gameplay that counts anyway :P
:)
But gameplay doesn't sell hardware. You've got a lot to learn about the modern gaming industry.
Although now that I think about it, I'd probably buy an "AI Coprocessor" if it meant better AI in games...
Because saying "system" or "model" or even "computer" doesn't sound business-y enough. "Computer" = Old and busted. "SKU" = Teh new hawtness.

If by "security" you mean "digital content restrictions", then yes. This has nothing to do with security.

But you still maintain the pedestal shouldn't include "Perpetual Motion Quackery"? Your line of reasoning is not apparent to me.
