I remember hearing a long while back that MS would make the MSO2k7 toolkit available for free (beer), under one condition: you cannot use it to make a competing product to MSO.
Good idea, until someone finds a hole in the software that handles the big red button. Apple actually did something like this a while back for system updates. There was a "programmer button" on the back you had to press in order to install the update.
So instead of buying from a kamikaze bomber, you want to support a guy that will stand on a carrier and proclaim "Mission Accomplished" over and over again?
Not that any of the three haven't had their own evil stretch. Nintendo was a convicted monopolist at one point, after all.
Did they say they were running standard PowerPC Linux on the PS3? In theory, what would stop us (besides Apple's legal dept.) putting the PowerPC Mac OSX on it?
My biggest problem with the PS3 isin't the $600 price tag. It isin't the forced Blu-ray player. It's the SixAxis. From what I've read, the SixAxis sounds like what happened when Sony looked at the DualShock and figured out you couldn't put any more buttons on it. It just acts like another analog stick (Resistance, Project8, Warhawk), or more buttons (Madden, Resistance). All it seems to do is just make games MORE complex. And no, I'm not a total Nintendo fanboy (playing outrun2 on xbox 1 right now, addicted)
Nintendo said they knew about snaking before it shipped. Snaking isin't any different from rocket jumping or shock combos in shooters. Anyways, if you're playing with people in (gasp) real life, like I usually do (It's more fun to see your opponents in person), you can just agree to not snake if you don't like it
From the article: "On whether there's another idea today that is as powerful as the idea of the personal computer in the 1970s: 'If I knew medicine like I do computers, I would like to be able to control the [human] immune system, to fight against the onset of disease on a world level"
Think of what would have happened if he did. Norton sucks enough on a $500 piece of (comparatively) disposable hardware, just think on a one-of-a-kind human body.
I thought 1080i (576 lines) was less than 720p (720 lines). Wouldn't that mean that your set couldn't handle 720p anyway? Still not an excuse to dump you down to 480p without a choice
This one with a CS student: I was discussing different OS's and he is steadfast in his beliefs (even after showing facts otherwise) that: -Windows XP is based off of DOS (It's actually loosely based on the OS/2 NT project) -Mac OSX is based off Mac OS 9, and sucks (actually NeXT) -Palm OS looks like no desktop OS, and therfore sucks -Unix is crap and... -Linux is rooted in DOS
He didn't mention F/LOSS anywhere. He just used this as a way to push his own plans on how we (the sheeple) will pay for his software. Nothing to see here. Move along......and duck. Incoming chair, with fucking killing power, made by Developers, Developers, Developers.
Try this: Reset your iPod (either action+menu, or play+menu, depends on model) While resetting, hold action+back, and throw it in disk mode. Use your favorite disk management tool (Computer Management in Windows, Disk Utility on OSX, and you probably know if you're on Linux), and blast off all partitions on your iPod, then put a new FAT32 partition on it. Use the iPod utility (or iTunes, if you have iTunes7) to restore the iPod software If that doesn't work, you're probably screwed.
Be glad we're in Jefferson County. We have the scan-tron ballots still. Someone in Oldham County told me that they were infected by Diebold, unfortunately.

Qt, Gtk+, Swing, Tk, wxWidgets, VCL, etc.

Why play a clone of MarioKart when you can play the real thing?
(Note: I suggest the DS version)
No, Google transcends time. They have always existed. :-)

But it only shows 540 (got my #s mixed up).

What sort of dead? I had one giving me an endless reboot loop, but you can still revive it if you know how.
Sorry, but Longhorn server will be able to run a bare-bones UI - a blank desktop with a command prompt. Come back next week.
Better yet, when will we have a video card that actually runs Linux? I'm sure it's possible, even if we couldn't do much with it.
Nov 15. I've made sure to remind myself to skip class :)
But the Internet isin't a truck you dump stuff on, it's a series of tubes!

First, they came for the Brazillians, but I did not speak up, for I was not of Brazil. ...fill in the rest yourself
Funny, but RTFT (Read The Friendly Topic), please!
- Sixth, ???
- Seventh. Profit!
So they are trying to steal the multimedia device and Tickle Me Elmo business strategy? This is nothing new.
Note I said "multimedia device", not "game console". You know which two I'm referring to.
