Cancer Cured By HIV

The more interesting part of this story is how they got the cells to proliferate and detect (with high specificity) cancer cells. The HIV portion of the story is just sensationalism.
No where in the article was it reported that HIV was injected into a patient. They used the retroviral nature of HIV to insert genes into white blood cells in vitro and then injected these modified cells back into the patient.
Also, by definition, state laws legislated by state legislatures cannot be unconstitutional. IIRC, the constitution says Congress can't make laws the place any restrictions on interstate commerce. The states are free to do whatever the fuck they want.
Yeah they can, for an example see Brown v. Entertainment Merchants Association where the California State Legislature passed AB 1179 in 2005 and was subsequently deemed unconstitutional by the Supreme Court last month.
I have my B.A in biology and my M.S. in microbiology. I see a lot of people here saying biology majors don't understand enough math, but from my perspective I can't figure out where it would fit into the curriculum. For my bachelor's I had a semester of calculus and a semester of statistics. What many people don't realize is a biology major is typically 1 or 2 courses away from a minor in chemistry, I personally had 5 semesters of chemistry. A couple of semesters of physics are typically required also. This is all before you even start to add in general studies courses and then core course work which covers everything from ecology, evolution, microbiology, cell biology, molecular biology, anatomy and physiology, and biochemistry just to name a few. From my experience many biologists are weak in microbiology and ecology because those course are often skipped. How can you argue for more math when the breadth of the biological disciplines aren't even covered.
Actually, If I remember correctly... Didn't GeoHot just "jailbreak" the system and then turn it over and let the community to its own devices? I think he even advocated against using his methods to enable piracy.
Chrono Trigger is a really bad example of the point you are trying to make. Today it does seem like a rudimentary game, but when it was released in 1995 it was anything but. The game was released by the biggest RPG maker in the world at the time and was made by a "Dream Team" of developers, including Akira Toriyama (creator of Dragonball Z). The graphics, gameplay, music, and multiple endings all went way over the top of what was expected in a game. This game was designed, ground up, to be a blockbuster...and it was.
Agreed, I'm finishing up my undergrad in Biology with a minor in Microbiology this semester. I'm becoming more and more educated, and the further I dig into biology the less I believe macro-evolution.
Macro evolution on the other hand seems to have its merits and would appear to be a theory that in the future will become a law.
I assume you mean microevolution and not macroevolution.
I don't see why education=macroevolution. Many ID proponents are highly educated. For example Dr. Michael Behe has a Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania, Phillip Johnson went to Harvard and studied at Law at the University of Chicago and went head to head in numerous debates with the highly respected Stephen J. Gould, Dr. William Dempski has a Ph.D. in mathematics from the University of Chicago among other degrees in psychology and statistics and has held numerous post-doc fellowships including one from the National Science foundation. These people are highly educated, I would assume much more than many "evolutionist" and have earned the right to be taken seriously when they form their opinions.
While the article it self was an interesting read, you've got to be kidding me if you believe everything you read, see, hear (if its on TV it must be true!). If you have any intelligence to you at all you have already seen previews (and to a lesser extent, I think, reviews) for what they are. Seriously, have other people never noticed this before. I've seen it tons of times. A writer playing an early build of game and writing an amazing preview of it and then the same writer hates the game when it comes out.
In my mind this is no different from any other type of journalism. I personally take it all with a grain of salt and just try to pick out the facts. So this article is really not very revolutionary to me. People need to practice a bit of self responsibility when partaking of the media. Even the most biased coverage of a game can still have some information to gleam from it. I like most of the video game media because at least they expose me to games, since I can't afford to buy and try out every single game that sounds fun. If you read multiple reviews and use a bit of discernment its easy to find out what is really going on with a game. We can't always have the truth spoon fed to us.
I for one am glad that they are considering this. I don't particularly care why it is being considered, although there are channels that I have blocked on my reciever because I don't agree with the subject matter, that new channel Logo comes to mind. Regardless, I might as well have blocked.75 of all the other channels that I have access to because I don't actually watch them. Lifetime...nope, Speed....nope, AMC Movie channel....nope, but I still pay for these. It just happens to irk me more when I pay for channels that I don't agree with their subject matter, just so I can watch channels that I do like. I have said this for a long time, currently I am paying 60+ dollars a month for 100+ channels. That is ~60 cents for each channel, I would gladly pay five times that for each channel if I only had to pay for the 10 or so channels that I do watch.
"This is a sad day. We're becoming a laughingstock of not only the nation, but of the world, and I hate that," said board member Janet Waugh.
Well, I'm laughing at you Janet Waugh. I thought we learned this leason a long time ago. Don't worry about what everyone else thinks, stand up for what is right. Why should we evaluate an idea based on it merits or failures in logic, lets just attack it ad hominem. I hear this so often, you are stupid if you even consider Intelligent Design. Well, guess what, I actually have read about it and looked into from the people who believe it and now I believe it too.
Quit acting like you are in high school and read about stuff. I used to think that computers were dumb because everyone else thought so. Who cares what other people think.
The theory of evolution lacks integrity. You can't prove whether or not something occured via evolution. If you are unsure how evolution of something occured, that doesn't mean it didn't occur (according to the theory) but that we just haven't figured it out. That seems like a fallacy to me.
Secondly the original story (by hemos) shows ignorance towards the theory of ID. ID just says that information has to orginate from information. So the Vatican is in line with ID, they acknowledge that information (various organismal genomes) didn't originate randomly but that it orginated with a designer, hence intelligent design. Furthermore ID allows room for evolution. If the world was designed at one point and left to its own devices, then it displays intelligent design. That is regardless of to what extent have evolution may or may not occured.
definitely looks like they ripped off the gamecube controller, however it makes sense cuz the gamecube controller has to be one of the most comfotable controllers to date.

These bacteria were cyanobacteria from the genus Gloeocapsa, which to my knowledge are non-spore forming.

For the love of Pete, its Halobacterium salinarum. Can we please use latin binomials properly.
I wonder with the size reduction and everything if it will still play gameboy advance games.
