Hmmm. Not sure what you call "small" but Apple's sales last year were $14B with profits of over a billion. They may very well hit $20B in sales this year. Nokia had sales of E10B, with profits of just over E1B.
"...it is not entirely accurate calling Fessenden Canadian."
Do you have any evidence that he officially renounced his Canadian citizenship and became a citizen of either the U.S. or Bermuda? If not then it is entirely appropriate to call him Canadian. Canada is also where he was born, spent his formative years and where he received his early college training in both Ontario and Quebec. That pretty much adds up to him being Canadian. It doesn't matter where he lived and worked. You might want him to be American because you probably believe that it would increase the value of the stuff left behind in your basement, but it doesn't look as if you can accurately make that claim.
"Its you silly English people who name us "the dutch", and our country either "The Netherlands" or even worse "Holland". We name ourselves (as a country) "Nederland", which is inhabited by "nederlanders".
Well, technically, it's the Kingdom of the Netherlands. What if you actually reside in North or South Holland, two of the twelve provinces which still hold 37% of the population? Both terms "Holland" and "Dutch" originated in the Netherlands, so you really have nobody to blame but yourselves for people calling you that.
Those potential hires being investigated should also do their own investigating to be certain that they can trust the corporate gumshoes poking around in their private lives. After all, who's to say that the magnifying glass turned the other way won't uncover some untrustworthy employer?
This makes a lot more sense than trying to create another console. Simply doing more to facilitate game developers for the Mac would be enough. They don't need to create a new platform.
Hey don't get testy pal. If you don't want people to demand clarification of things you write and terms you use, then don't use terms that are open to interpretation because they have multiple meanings.
So are you saying that professionals don't use MacPro products, only prosumers do? Or are you calling all professionals who use Mac products prosumers and therefore trivializing their work?
Thank you. Apparently there is no shortage of bright ideas from well-meaning people which will make it easier for the police to collect taxes.
We've had velocity taxes for decades. Now some people on this board support the idea of get-tough policy on Vehicular Proximity Tax collection. What's next? A Jalopy Tax for any vehicle over ten years old? Or how about an Operator Vestimentary Tax for those who aren't up to code with what they wear while driving? We already have a Remote Communication Conversation Tax in some states, so why not a Vehicular Enclosure Air Quality Tax for those who smoke while driving? Or a Conveyance Collation Tax for those who snack while on the move? There is no end to the all the imaginative ways we could tax ourselves. Think of the possibilities!
"...so any unauthorized copy is a dead-end once it gets to the ipod"
Well not exactly. It is possible to sync the ipod to iTunes then rip a cid of any track, at which point you can do whatever you want with it. It is also possible to freely extract the songs off the iPod, or share them via browser with anyone.
"Basically my point is that right now, sadly every platform sucks in some way. And OSX/Mac is not different."
Agreed. 100% true. Apple has had ALL KINDS of problems with BOTH hardware and software. They are FAR from perfect. However, and unless you already have a hate-on for all things Apple (illogical or otherwise), some Apple products are the right products for tens of millions of people and growing. Just keep in persepective when you buy any PC. Nothing is 100% problem free 100% of the time.
It's not racism -- PCs aren't people -- it's bias, but I'm with you. The whole argument is tiresome and really quite pointless. Get what does the job and forget the platform bigotry.
There are MANY examples of proprietary software in the world. Apple can set ANY rules they wish. There is NOTHING anticompetitive about it. Your analogy is misplaced. People can simply choose to use another OS if they want to purchase a PC. If they purchase a Mac they can numerous OSs if they choose. However OS X is only made to run on a Mac. Apple doesn't make it to run on anything else. They are under no obligation to do so. If your argument were true then every single piece of software in the world would have to run on any piece of hardware and any OS. That's just a ridiculous argument, and would stifle development as costs skyrocket.
"You can buy a Mac, then take the included copy of OS X and install it on a PC."
Well you can TRY and install it on a PC. It probably won't work (yet). You may not, according to the license agreement however, install it on anything other than a Mac.
"Software License Agreement for Mac OS X:
2. A. This license allows you to install, use and run one (1) copy of the Apple Software on a single Apple computer at a time. You agree not to install, use or run the Apple Software on any non-Apple-labeled computer, or to enable others to do so."
"...a small company like Apple...."

"So there."
So are you saying that professionals don't use MacPro products, only prosumers do? Or are you calling all professionals who use Mac products prosumers and therefore trivializing their work?
"If it's tightly coupled with Mac OS, it will flop"
The iPod started on the Mac only. It was a (modest) success before the Windows version was ever introduced.

Probably prematurely.
She was in a movie! http://www.ellenfeiss.net/index.php
So which is it? You can't BOTH be right. Either large parts of Mac OS are closed source, or most of Mac OS is open source. Which is it?
"Doug Morris" sounds like an all-american name to me.

Everquest for Mac is doing very well thank you very much. It's a small but very enthusiastic community.

"There's only one place you can go to buy a PC to run OS X."
Sorry, but you set yourself up for this:
Places to go to buy a PC to run OS X:
Apple
CDW
Small Dog
Macconnection
MacMall
MacZone
Powermax
J&R Computerworld
CompUSA
ClubMac
and many others.
Perhaps you should have said "There is only one manufacturer of PCs which run OS X."
It's not racism -- PCs aren't people -- it's bias, but I'm with you. The whole argument is tiresome and really quite pointless. Get what does the job and forget the platform bigotry.
Uh, it would probably be the other way around if anything, but this is just another dubious rumor.

Unless you're a law-abiding permanent resident. If you're in the country illegally you have the most privacy.

Geez man, change our diet, your sweat is toxic.
He told you, albeit awkwardly, that he is running IE7 in Windows, which is running inside of the application Parallels, which is running on OS X.
"Sometimes I think /. has a glaring anti-Firefox agenda."
If this were true wouldn't they actually post a negative story about Firefox instead of NOT posting it?
